Abandoned Woman Busy Farming

Chapter 2437: Chapter 2438: Unable to Bear to Cover Up for One’s Own

Sa Tian’s expression became even more awkward, he bowed to Bai Ruozhu, ”Lord Bai is absolutely right, I will go talk to them immediately.”

Saying that, he turned to stop the two guards catching the deer, ”This is a temple, how can you eat meat here and catch the deer inside?”

The two guards were stunned for a moment, then one said, ”This is outside the temple gates, why can’t we eat? We’ve been helping Zhaoti Temple fight fires, working hard for several days, can’t we just eat their two deer?”

Sa Tian was a civil officer, and under a warrior like General Chisong, he didn’t have much status. Moreover, the Mu Residence valued martial arts, and these warriors had nasty tempers, fearing no one as weak as Sa Tian.

”Release that deer immediately, don’t cause any more harm.” Sa Tian said.

”We are samurai, haven’t we killed enough people? What’s this nonsense about killing harm, get lost, don’t disturb us.” The guard said, shoving Sa Tian aside.

Fo Lanying rushed over, raised a hand to push away the guard holding the fawn, ”I told you to let go, didn’t you understand?”

The guards truly didn’t understand, Sa Tian angrily translated, telling them not to offend the esteemed guests from Zhongyuan.

The two guards were quite angry, one of them, in defiance, suddenly threw a flying knife at the fleeing fawn. Fo Lanying hadn’t expected someone to suddenly act, was unable to stop them, and the knife struck the fawn.

The poor fawn cried out miserably and fell to the ground, moaning in pain, its big wet eyes welling up with tears.

”You’re courting death!” Fo Lanying was so angry she slapped a palm over, the opponent immediately drew a knife in retaliation, and Yuan Licheng rushed over in an instant.

”If you dare to touch my wife, don’t blame me for killing you all here!” Yuan Licheng threw out a formation talisman, he was ready to set up an array.

The guard roasting meat instantly jumped up, each drawing their knives ready for confrontation.

The Fusang guards probably thought they had greater numbers, their expressions exceedingly arrogant, some even sent signals, seemingly calling more guards to come help.

”Stop, everyone, don’t act rashly, let’s talk it over calmly, quickly put away your knives!” Sa Tian anxiously shouted, switching between speaking in Chinese and Fusang Language, trying desperately to intervene.

Jiang Yichun coldly glared at the guard who acted, ”Teach them a lesson, beat them hard, as long as they don’t die!”

The others had long wanted to move, hearing this, they sprang into action, Fo Lanying especially stomped down hard on the one who wounded the fawn.

Bai Ruozhu quickly walked to the injured fawn, Yizi and Teng Ya, not adept at fighting, hurried over as well.

”Master, please save it, it’s just a fawn baby.” Yizi was almost breaking into tears.

Teng Ya stomped her feet angrily, ”Those people are too detestable, we already said not to eat, yet they still want to kill the fawn vent their anger, completely inhumane!”

Bai Ruozhu squatted down to examine for a moment, the fawn’s wound was deep, but hadn’t hit the internal organs, the knife stuck into its hind thigh, but damaging the artery, causing continuous blood flow.

”I’ll save it, lend me a hand.” Bai Ruozhu ordered two sentences, then quickly applied needle to stop the bleeding, the fawn perhaps sensing their kindness, didn’t struggle, only looked at them pleadingly, making it especially heart-wrenching.

The blood quickly stopped, Bai Ruozhu swiftly pulled out the dagger, the fawn cried out in pain but knew who meant well, not kicking its legs wildly.

Bai Ruozhu took needle and thread to stitch it up, she seldom cured animals, and with the deer’s fur, stitching wasn’t as smooth as with humans, so anxious she sweated upon her forehead.

Meanwhile, Jiang Yichun and the others had knocked down the group of guards.

”Was it this hand that threw the knife?” Fo Lanying stepped on the guard’s hand, he screamed in pain, cursing in Fusang Language, Fo Lanying kicked him hard in the stomach, ”Don’t let me see you again, otherwise next time I’ll cripple your vile hand!”

The guard screamed miserably, Sa Tian hurriedly coaxed, ”Please, my lords, show mercy, they are brute warriors used to fighting, please don’t stoop to their level, otherwise how can I explain to Lord Luzhi?”

Jiang Yichun’s face turned cold, ”Tell Luzhi to find me, I’m waiting for a spar with him.”

Sa Tian gasped, Luzhi was the top samurai, but why did this Lord Jiang seem so disdainful when mentioning a spar?

He suddenly felt a headache, afraid the Danliang Country envoys would be harmed, yet without expecting Lord Luzhi’s men to be knocked down, given Lord Luzhi’s temper, he wouldn’t let it end easily.

At this moment, footsteps were heard from the temple, it was Xinye and a monk hurrying over, evidently the monk discovered the fighting and quickly went to find Xinye to stop it.

But upon seeing the guards all lying on the ground, the monk was so shocked his jaw almost dropped.

”What’s happening here?” Xinye strode over, being a protective person, his face darkened immediately.

The guards bawled and complained of being beaten, evidently tattling.

Jiang Yichun provocatively glanced at Xinye, his soldiers were down, what’s the use of tattling?

Sa Tian hurriedly explained to Xinye a few sentences, he didn’t exaggerate, told things clearly as they were.

Xinye turned his head and saw the barbecue rack, and unfinished deer meat, his face fell instantly.

”Who allowed you to roast deer here?” Xinye yelled.

In an instant, all those babbling tattling guards quieted down.

”My lord, aren’t we just eating two deer? There’s so many deer the temple can’t count them, it’s the Zhongyuan people who meddle too much, this is Fusang, how can we let them rule here!” The guard who wounded the fawn complained again.

”Such nonsense, Zhaoti Temple encountered this calamity, the General sent you to protect here, yet you roasted their deer, aren’t you afraid of the General’s reprimand?” Seeing Bai Ruozhu not far away tending the deer, Xinye was inexplicably angry.

This anger wasn’t directed at Bai Ruozhu, but at those guards, especially seeing Bai Ruozhu sweating, with an anxious look, made him feel even worse.

If it were before, he wouldn’t have reprimanded them so severely, perhaps even protecting his men, but today, he couldn’t utter any words of favoritism.

Bai Ruozhu finally stitched up the fawn’s wound, Yizi helped wipe her sweat with a cloth, having just assisted, Yizi and Teng Ya were stained with deer blood, Bai Ruozhu was even more so.

”Sa Tian, notify the temple, I will take this deer back to the Posthouse to heal.” Bai Ruozhu said to Sa Tian.

Seeing the fawn able to stand again, Sa Tian grew even more respectful toward Bai Ruozhu, not realizing she could treat humans, but also heal deer.
