Abandoned Woman Busy Farming

Chapter 2402: Chapter 2403: More People Missing

But the Squad Captain thought again and found it impossible. He knew Wang Shu well enough to know that, even though he was simple and honest, he couldn’t just kill someone out of the blue. Moreover, this is a deserted island; how could he escape after committing murder?

Moreover, a sailor’s income is less than a tenth of these guards’. Why would Wang Shu be tempted by money?

This doesn’t make any sense!

Jiang Yichun apparently thought of this too and hurriedly said, ”Everyone, let’s not split up. There’s something wrong with this island.”

If everything was fine, why would people disappear for no reason?

One sailor might be understandable, but the guards are mostly well-trained. If they went missing on the way back in a queue, even if they encountered danger, a shout for help should attract their comrades’ attention.

This isn’t right at all!

”Qiu Zhi, check if there’s anything unusual on this island,” Bai Ruozhu suddenly said.

She didn’t believe in ghosts before, but after finding Fang Luo, she had to believe that the villagers near the Fang Family were all wandering souls from back then.

”Yes.” Qiu Zhi responded, took out a compass at random, and checked, but shortly shook his head and said, ”There’s nothing unusual. I don’t know if the compass is more prone to malfunction at sea.”

”Send people to search again, but still in three teams. Make sure they hold hands and don’t get separated.” Jiang Yichun ordered.

The three teams set out again. Bai Ruozhu said to Jiang Yichun, ”Let’s go take a look too.”

”No way! This island is strange, you can’t risk it!” Gao Zhou immediately objected.

”If there’s really something abnormal, not investigating is even less safe,” Jiang Yichun retorted.

”Then I’ll go with Tang Feng to accompany you.” Gao Zhou said.

This time, Jiang Yichun did not object.

Duannian, sitting on one side, opened his mouth but eventually said nothing.

He had recommended this island, and now that there was a problem, he felt uncomfortable and wanted to help, but he still couldn’t walk on land and could only sit when he came ashore. He wanted to help but was powerless.

Wa Wei saw his mood and tugged his hand, saying, ”It’s going to be okay. The lady is very capable; she will figure out what’s going on.”

”I’m just worried about those two people...” Duannian said, sighing.

”There are no beasts on this island, they will be fine, don’t overthink it.” Wa Wei quickly comforted him.

Duannian sighed. He wondered when he could walk freely. People are indeed greedy; he used to think merely having legs would be enough, but once he had legs, he wanted more. He truly wasn’t content.

He smiled bitterly, continuing to quietly circulate inner strength and essence through the acupuncture points in his legs, hoping to change the condition of his legs, wishing for the day they’d cease to be mere decoration.

Bai Ruozhu and the other three set off. Jiang Yichun naturally held Bai Ruozhu’s hand, and Gao Zhou finally, reluctantly, held hands with Tang Feng.

He turned his head, seeing Bai Ruozhu smirking, and immediately said fiercely, ”Put away those rotten girl thoughts, don’t forget, I’m still your father-in-law!”

Bai Ruozhu let out two dry laughs, ”I don’t mind the Mother-in-law’s gender.”

”Bai Ruozhu!”

”Bai Ruozhu!”

Both Gao Zhou and Tang Feng burst into anger simultaneously, leaving Jiang Yichun bewildered. Why were they so agitated?

”Alright, alright, didn’t I say nothing? Don’t wrong me.” Bai Ruozhu looked innocent.

”Your smile has betrayed your dirty thoughts.” Gao Zhou said with raised eyebrows, ”I’m a straight man, a straight man!”

Tang Feng also quickly declared, ”Brother is straight too!”

Only Jiang Yichun looked bewildered, slowing down his pace with Bai Ruozhu, asking in a low voice, ”What’s a straight man? And what did my father mean by ’rotten girl’?”

”Nothing, I’ll tell you when we get back.” Bai Ruozhu chuckled softly. She thought if she told her Achun, he’d definitely lecture her on setting her values right.

Sigh, how could these men understand the small happiness of rotten girls?

Jiang Yichun tightened his grip on her hand, ”Tell me directly, or I’m going to ask my father.”

”Uh...” Fine, maybe it’s safer if I say it myself.

”It’s just in the place I used to live, some girls like to see two men holding hands, like Zhou Jue and Ji Ziran.” Bai Ruozhu decided to keep the explanation simple and direct.

Jiang Yichun’s face darkened, disgruntled, ”Zhou Jue isn’t a man.”

”Alright, in my heart, I think of him as a man,” Bai Ruozhu said.

Jiang Yichun glared at her hard, ”Don’t have such strange thoughts in the future. What rotten girl, it’s nonsense.”

Bai Ruozhu secretly pouted, murmuring softly, ”Ancient people are so old-fashioned.”

Well, those village fellows who transmigrated are also pretty old-fashioned, probably because straight men can’t accept it.

She nodded vigorously, ”I understand.”

She thought to herself, promising not to secretly laugh anymore.

Jiang Yichun assumed she was sincerely repentant and didn’t dwell on the matter further.

After talking, they both looked up only to find Gao Zhou and Tang Feng were gone!

”Are they mad at me and left on their own?” Bai Ruozhu felt a bit worried, but she thought it was unlikely since both were experts.

”They should know what they’re doing; let’s quicken our pace and look for them.” Jiang Yichun said while pulling Bai Ruozhu along to speed up. As they walked, they called out Tang Feng and Gao Zhou’s names, but received no response.

The two searched for a quarter of an hour and finally confirmed that they had lost track of them.

”Let’s go back and see if they’ve returned to the seaside.” Jiang Yichun’s brow furrowed tightly. Even his father had suddenly disappeared under his watch, which was too bizarre.

He could only hope this was just a misunderstanding, and Gao Zhou and Tang Feng had merely gone back to regroup at the seaside.

When the two rushed back to the seaside, they didn’t see Gao Zhou and Tang Feng. They had only been talking for a little while and even if Gao Zhou and Tang Feng had walked away, they wouldn’t be far; how could they not hear their calls?

At this point, the three teams returned one after another. They still hadn’t found the missing sailor and guards, nor had they encountered Gao Zhou and Tang Feng.

But fortunately, none of them went missing.

”How could this be, would the seniors run off on their own to make us worry?” Mo Beishan asked confusedly.

Gao Zhou and Tang Feng still hadn’t returned after so long, and Bai Ruozhu’s heart sank to the bottom. She regretted having thought those random thoughts; otherwise, they might not have gotten separated.

”Master, let me go search; I have signals with me, and if something happens, I can release them promptly. At least if I also disappear without a trace, you can determine where I was before I went missing.” Jianqi suddenly stepped forward, volunteering.

”No way!” Bai Ruozhu immediately objected, ”What if you can’t release the signal in time? My foster father and Tang Feng are high martial arts experts, and they didn’t make a sound before disappearing. What if you recklessly wander off and encounter danger?”
