Abandoned Woman Busy Farming

Chapter 2411: Chapter 2412: The Mastermind Behind the Pirates

Bai Ruozhu hummed twice, ”This pearl is not that pearl, and don’t you think calling it ’Black Pearl’ sounds beautiful on the sea?”

In the end, this proposal was firmly rejected by Gao Zhou and Tang Feng, and ”Black Pearl” was named as Harmony. Bai Ruozhu almost spat out a mouthful of old blood; one black and one white, how could they come up with that?

The two ships sailed on the sea, and with the protection of Harmony, the journey was much safer.

After a few days, it rained on the sea, solving the water shortage problem, and finally, Bai Ruozhu and the others could breathe a sigh of relief.

Lingzi, seeing Bai Ruozhu teaching Wa Wei and the other girls medical skills every day, became increasingly interested and boldly asked, ”Madam, can I learn from you?”

”Sure, but you need to work hard to keep up,” Bai Ruozhu said.

Wa Wei, being a kind-hearted girl, said with a smile, ”I can also help you with extra lessons.”

Bai Ruozhu glanced at her, ”You haven’t even graduated yet and you want to take on a disciple?”

Wa Wei’s face turned red, ”I can teach her the basics, to save you from hard work, Sister Ruozhu.”

”I’m just joking, don’t be nervous. It’s good for you to help Lingzi when you have time,” Bai Ruozhu said with a smile.

The girls all laughed, and Lingzi quietly watched everyone, feeling warm inside. She thought they might not like her because she was an outsider.

After learning medical skills, Bai Ruozhu asked Lingzi to talk about Fusang. At this time, Jiang Yichun and the other men would gather too, making Lingzi a bit embarrassed, but after a few days, she felt her Chinese had improved.

”Women in Fusang can’t be involved in too much politics, so my knowledge is limited. Beyond knowing that the Mu Residence holds the power now, there’s a very formidable lord,” Lingzi said, her expression dimming a bit.

”His name is She Zongyi, and he has a very high status in Fusang.”

”She... that surname is really...” Bai Ruozhu couldn’t help but comment.

”It’s one of the older surnames in Fusang, but the She Family has been in decline. This She Zongyi was originally a farmer, but he later found the secret to raising chickens. It’s rumored he could raise a thousand chickens with one bushel of rice, but no one knows how he did it.”

Bai Ruozhu’s mouth twitched; she knew how it was done. In her past life, she liked reading about the Spring and Autumn Warring States and had read about Yidun’s story. He used to raise a thousand chickens with one bushel of rice.

She didn’t interrupt Lingzi, who continued speaking.

”Later, he raised cattle, producing the famous Kobe Beef. By then, he had transformed from a farmer into a large landowner, attracting many to seek refuge under him. He took in a large number of refugees and poor people, giving them jobs.”

”Later, he invented a method to refine salt, which was much better and cheaper than others’, so most people bought salt made by the She Family. Then he researched winemaking, and the wine he made, which was expensive, was used by the aristocrats for entertainment, even the Emperor drank the wine he offered.”

Bai Ruozhu was dumbfounded listening, ”Isn’t this Yidun?”

No, it should be Fusang’s version of Yidun, but how could it be such a coincidence?

She glanced at Gao Zhou and Tang Feng, who weren’t too surprised, clearly because they didn’t pay attention to the Spring and Autumn Warring States history and didn’t know about Yidun.

In her past life, reading about Yidun’s story, a thought occurred to her that this Yidun must have transmigrated, otherwise how could someone who originally asked Fan Li for business advice suddenly research so many things?

If ”raising a thousand chickens with one bushel” was a lucky discovery, how could the salt purification method be explained?

No, the key now is not whether Yidun transmigrated, since he isn’t a person of this era, but whether this She Zongyi transmigrated, and his behavior is exactly the same as Yidun’s, except She Zongyi brews wine, which is because there was already some winemaking technology during the Spring and Autumn Warring States.

”Can She Zongyi already control the government of Fusang, even interfere with the Emperor’s appointments?” Bai Ruozhu suddenly asked.

Lingzi was somewhat surprised but soon nodded, ”Madam, you are indeed exceptionally clever, to think of that immediately.”

Lingzi pondered for a while, biting her lip, seemingly making a decision.

”Actually, I didn’t entirely tell the truth initially. I was indeed kidnapped by She Zongyi’s men, but after escaping, I was almost caught. Out of desperation, I mixed into one of She Zongyi’s ships as a kitchen maid and accidentally discovered a secret.”

She looked at Bai Ruozhu, ”I believe you guessed it, the master behind the Black Pirate Ship is She Zongyi.”

Tang Feng exclaimed, ”He actually mastered such advanced shipbuilding technology, how old is he this year?”

”He looks about forty,” Lingzi answered.

Tang Feng, Bai Ruozhu, and Gao Zhou exchanged glances, obviously thinking She Zongyi might also have transmigrated.

”This man thought of being a pirate to amass wealth; he probably did a lot of heinous things behind the scenes. He will face retribution eventually,” Bai Ruozhu said.

Lingzi’s eyes showed hatred, ”I won’t let him off.”

After Lingzi left to rest, Bai Ruozhu called Gao Zhou and Tang Feng to her and Achun’s room to talk.

”Why do you three have such strange expressions?” Jiang Yichun noticed the three acting oddly.

Gao Zhou looked awkward in front of his son, and finally, Tang Feng spoke up, ”We suspect that She Zongyi, like us, came from a modern transmigration.”

”It’s more than that!” Bai Ruozhu said, ”During the Spring and Autumn Warring States period, there was a poor scholar named Yidun who rose to wealth in a similar way, except he didn’t brew wine. I read about his deeds before and jokingly suggested he had transmigrated. Now, She Zongyi’s actions mirror Yidun’s too closely; it’s too uncanny.”

”He also knows the Shushan Sword Technique,” Gao Zhou added, ”The Black Pirate Boss is too cowardly to have taught the pirates the Shu Mountain Sword Array.”

Bai Ruozhu nodded, ”When we get to Fusang, we need to be careful of She Zongyi, especially not let him know we took over the Black Pirate Ship.”

”It’s Harmony,” Gao Zhou emphasized.

Bai Ruozhu’s mouth twitched, ”Alright, Harmony.”

Jiang Yichun, who had been silent, looked at Gao Zhou and asked, ”Are you also from there? Why didn’t you ever mention it before?”

Gao Zhou scratched his head, a little embarrassed, and said, ”I wanted you to grow up safe and sound, and because of your mother’s disappearance, I hoped you would lead an ordinary life even more.”

Oh my, I thought I’d be able to write properly today, but when I got home, the elderly and children were playing so wildly that I couldn’t concentrate at all. It’s so annoying that I forgot my headphones; I’ll have to buy some tomorrow!
