Abandoned Woman Busy Farming

Chapter 2403: Chapter 2404: Facing the Storm Together

”I can carry a bag of powder that leaves marks along the way or have someone follow me at a distance,” Jianqi said. ”I’ve observed that the missing people before were either one or two; I’m afraid there won’t be any problem with more people.”

”Yichun and I were two people, and there were no problems,” Jiang Yichun said.

Jianqi insisted, ”So the Holy Doctor senior and Tang Champion walking ahead of you disappeared.”

Bai Ruozhu quickly glanced at Yizi. Indeed, Yizi’s eyes were full of worry; not only for Yizi, but Bai Ruozhu herself didn’t want Jianqi to take this risk either. However, she also dared not delay too long as four people had already gone missing, and prolonging it might worsen their situation.

”Master, let me and Jianqi go,” Yizi suddenly stood up. ”Since the Holy Doctor senior and Tang Feng held hands and disappeared, it might be better for Jianqi and I to go together. I can also set up a defensive array, at least it will keep us somewhat safe.”

Yizi wanted to face the danger with Jianqi. Bai Ruozhu initially intended to stop her, but seeing her determined gaze, Bai Ruozhu felt unable to speak.

She could understand Yizi’s feelings, just as she insisted on facing challenges together with Achun, searching for the Merfolk Island.

”No!” Jianqi immediately opposed.

Yizi looked at him sadly, ”Do you think my level in arrays is too poor, unable to help?”

”I...” That’s not what I meant.

Jianqi suddenly realized he had hurt Yizi’s feelings, but he truly didn’t want her to follow him into danger. The situation was unclear, and he didn’t know what might happen next.

”Don’t explain, if you really look down on me, I won’t say a word in the future,” Yizi’s attitude was firm, implying that if Jianqi refused her now, she wouldn’t speak to him again.

Jianqi didn’t know what to say, but he couldn’t stand idly. Additionally, Bai Ruozhu had greatly helped him, curing his persistent throat pain, giving him the Black Gold Sword and Martial Arts Secret Manual, opening up new opportunities for him.

”Alright, stop debating,” Bai Ruozhu said, ”Let’s do as Jianqi suggested, prepare the powder bag, I and Achun will follow behind you.”

The plan was settled. Soon, Jianqi prepared the powder bag, and Yizi gathered materials for setting up a defensive array. The two held hands and walked forward.

Bai Ruozhu and Jiang Yichun maintained a certain distance, holding hands and following behind.

”Angry?” Jianqi asked softly after Yizi kept a stern face in silence.

Yizi didn’t speak for a while, only held Jianqi’s hand tighter, she glanced at him indignantly, wanting to withdraw her hand, but remembering their task, she held back.

”I’ve always admired the madam, not just for her happy family but for her courage to stand beside Lord Jiang and face hardships. I know I’m not capable, didn’t learn arrays well, but I hope to be like the madam, standing by my loved one, facing all difficulties, rather than always hiding behind and being a burden.”

Yizi spoke with some emotion, her body slightly shaking.

”I was wrong; I won’t do that anymore,” Jianqi’s voice was low, yet audible to Yizi.

Yizi’s ears turned red, ”Humph, you just look down on me, thinking I’m incapable, always fearing for my safety.”

Jianqi turned back, seeing Bai Ruozhu and Jiang Yichun were quite far, quickly embraced Yizi and said softly, ”No, I was mistaken before. From now on, we’ll fight side by side, I’ll respect your opinion.”

Of course, he would strive to enhance his strength to better protect her.

Yizi’s face reddened, gently pushed him, ”Hurry up, don’t let the madam see.”

This time, Jianqi couldn’t help but chuckle, ”So, you’re not angry anymore? If you are, I’ll have to placate you until you aren’t.”

Yizi stomped anxiously. Bai Ruozhu and Jiang Yichun were following closely, if they stopped, they’d shorten the distance, wouldn’t they see them hugging?

What a shame!

”I forgive you, is that enough?” Yizi quickly said.

Jianqi then released her, held her hand and continued forward, noticing Yizi secretly peeking at him, seeing his side profile smiling.

Humph, she never realized this man could be so shameless, could he have learned it from Lord Jiang?

Not far ahead, Bai Ruozhu tugged at Jiang Yichun and whispered, ”Slow down.”

”Why?” Jiang Yichun asked puzzled.

Holding back laughter, Bai Ruozhu coughed and said, ”If too close, it might prevent discovery.”

”I wonder how my father is doing,” Jiang Yichun said worriedly.

The smile faded from Bai Ruozhu’s face, indeed, with Gao Zhou’s abilities, there should have been some activity by now.

Moreover, Tang Feng, possessing space, often managed to avoid dangers, shouldn’t have taken so long without contacting them.

They followed Jianqi and Yizi ahead, don’t want to walk around the island without discovering anything, Jianqi and Yizi remained fine, hadn’t gone missing.

Seeing Bai Ruozhu and Jiang Yichun approaching, Jianqi quickly said, ”Perhaps I should go alone.”

Yizi grew nervous, ”Maybe we missed some places, perhaps walking again?”

Bai Ruozhu considered it possible, ”Change the powder color and walk again.”

She thought a while, then took out some fluorescent powder from space, handing it to Jianqi.

Once the powder bag was ready, Jianqi and Yizi walked again. Having discovered nothing, their moods sank, walking silently, just tightly holding each other’s hands.

”What if we find no clues again?” Bai Ruozhu worried aloud.

”There’s no road to heaven,” Jiang Yichun uttered, but his face was serious, only hidden by night shadows, Bai Ruozhu couldn’t easily notice.

At that moment, Bai Ruozhu’s expression changed dramatically, ”No, they’ve disappeared!”

Jiang Yichun reacted swiftly, pulling Bai Ruozhu to run ahead. Indeed, there was no trace of the two ahead, and the fluorescent powder marked trail ended.

”They disappeared here; we mustn’t separate. Let’s search together!” Jiang Yichun said as he stomped the ground around, Bai Ruozhu was pulled along cautiously, not daring random movements. If the ground hid a trap, she might catch him if he fell.

Unfortunately, stamping around the powder’s disappearance area, Jiang Yichun found no mechanisms or concealed traps.

”What’s going on?” He asked confusedly.
