Abandoned Woman Busy Farming

Chapter 2430: Chapter 2431: The Set Trap

Bai Ruozhu rubbed her temples wearily, seemingly unaware of anything amiss, her eyes slowly closed, and she unexpectedly fell asleep on the chair.

Shadows moved toward the room, surprisingly numbering four, and who knows how many were hidden in the dark.

From cautious shadows to swiftly darting toward Bai Ruozhu, a dagger’s shadow stabbed toward her.

With a bang, the shadow seemed to hit an invisible barrier, and a light emanated from Bai Ruozhu’s body.

In the next second, her eyes suddenly opened, and she thrust a dagger fiercely toward a shadow on the ground.

Then figures rushed into the yard, Jiang Yichun was the first to reach Bai Ruozhu’s side.

He stared in amazement at Bai Ruozhu, who had a dagger stuck in the ground, from which black-red blood gushed out.

”I’m fine; go kill those shadows, don’t let a single one escape!” Bai Ruozhu said swiftly.

Jiang Yichun didn’t dare delay and rushed towards a nearby shadow, stabbing fiercely with a sword.

His sword was longer and thrust with great force, and a gush of blood surged out.

”Use the array control, quickly intercept them. Hmph, do ghosts bleed?” Bai Ruozhu’s face bore a ruthless expression; these people were either here to kill her or Master Puru tonight, they must not be spared!

Since capturing them alive is too difficult and interrogation is unlikely, it’s better to kill them cleanly.

Gao Zhou, Tang Feng, and Qiu Zhi all took action, while Yuan Licheng controlled the array. The shadows found themselves restricted, unable to move as quickly as usual. They immediately realized the problem was with Yuan Licheng, and they converged to attack him.

Qiu Zhi’s fire talisman had already flown and directly burned the ground, ”Stop pretending, come out!”

A suppressed scream sounded, the shadow seemed to be burned, struggling painfully underground but unable to break through.

Bai Ruozhu pulled out her dagger and rushed to Yuan Licheng, blocking a shadow attacking him from behind.

”They’re ruthless, I feel itchy, come and save me!” Yuan Licheng said ”on me,” but his eyes were glancing toward his lower body.

He was sitting cross-legged on the ground, seemingly his buttocks were attacked. But he must stabilize the array without moving his body.

Bai Ruozhu hurriedly made a seal with her fingers, casting a magic defense technique on him, followed by releasing Furball to check if any bugs were biting Yuan Licheng.

”It’s not bugs, it’s ghostly qi!” Qiu Zhi’s eyes lit up, seemingly finally finding his chance to shine.

He held up the peach wood sword and suddenly stabbed towards Yuan Licheng.

”Ow!” Yuan Licheng shrieked, ”Qiu Zhi, damn you, don’t stab randomly, you wanna fight me!”

Bai Ruozhu’s lip twitched, was Qiu Zhi trying to kill ghosts or kill people, or was he aiming to make Yuan Licheng’s lineage extinct.

Qiu Zhi hastily withdrew his hand, saying with a face full of shame, ”Sorry, sorry, I was too hasty in killing ghosts.”

He didn’t dare use the peach wood sword anymore, instead plastered talisman papers onto Yuan Licheng.

Soon, two black lumps fell from Yuan Licheng’s body.

This time, Qiu Zhi boldly chopped at them with the peach wood sword, cutting the two black lumps into four pieces.

Elsewhere, everyone combined to injure six shadows, unclear if they were dead or wounded, but some genuinely lay motionless underground.

However, a few shadows still managed to escape; although Bai Ruozhu felt regretful, she did not care too much; intercepting a few shadow ninjas unexpectedly was a huge victory already.

Today’s incident happened too abruptly, with an eerie taste, Bai Ruozhu and the others couldn’t afford to be completely unprepared.

Hence, Bai Ruozhu secretly signaled Yuan Licheng at the posthouse to quietly set up arrays nearby specifically targeting shadow ninjas.

Initially, Gao Zhou was unaware of the plan; Bai Ruozhu took the chance to have Jiang Yichun accompany Gao Zhou for rest, quietly telling him the plan, while making it seem as though she was really left alone.

Later, Jiang Yichun informed Tang Feng and Qiu Zhi, but to avoid alerting the enemy, none of them could approach Master Puru’s room.

Until the defensive array on Bai Ruozhu was triggered, Yuan Licheng outside immediately rushed into the array to control the great formation, while others came in and encircled the shadow ninjas.

All this was conducted in secret, not even informing Sa Tian and Xinye, fearing any leaks of information.

”Let’s see what these guys really are.” Bai Ruozhu was intrigued; she could finally see the true face of the shadow ninjas.

Suddenly, footsteps echoed from outside, a voice shouted, ”Lord Xinye, quickly look, it’s them who set the fire in the temple, they’re trying to harm Master Puru.”

The man spoke in Fusang Language, but Bai Ruozhu had a strong learning ability, having memorized quite a few words, and upon hearing talks of fire and Puru, she had roughly guessed his meaning.

”Someone just saw Qiu Zhi using a fire talisman, so they say we started the fire.” Bai Ruozhu quickly explained to the others.

At this moment, the informant had already brought Xinye and a group of soldiers rushing in.

”What happened? Did your people start a fire?” Xinye noticed bits of burned paper ash on the ground, revealing a trace of doubt in his eyes.

Bai Ruozhu glared at Qiu Zhi, this guy, of all talismans, why use a fire talisman, especially during such a sensitive period.

Qiu Zhi was about to cry, aggrievedly saying, ”I’m a Daoist, isn’t using talismans normal?”

”He’s similar to your Fusang Country’s Yin Yang Master, there were little ghosts causing trouble just now.” Bai Ruozhu explained again, pointing to the black lumps cut open on the floor.

Xinye, being worldly-wise, ”They’re black spiders, their bite causes intense itching and one becomes affected by ghostly qi. Anyone injured?”

Bai Ruozhu pointed at the embarrassed Yuan Licheng, ”He was bitten.”

”Where was he bitten?” Xinye quickly walked over.

Yuan Licheng’s face was full of embarrassment; he was sitting there rigidly, logically the array didn’t need to be maintained anymore, why wasn’t he getting up?

Everyone looked at him, his face turned more embarrassed, ”Why are you all staring, I’ve been hit in the a**!”

Jiang Yichun glared at him fiercely, couldn’t he be more discreet, Bai Ruozhu was still here after all.

”Sir, that little ghost might be raised by them, I really saw them setting a fire burning something; you must investigate them thoroughly!” The reporting soldier shouted loudly.

Meanwhile, Sa Tian rushed over, due to the haste, his clothes were not properly worn.

”What did he say?” Bai Ruozhu looked at Sa Tian.

Sa Tian looked astonished but still honestly translated.

Before Bai Ruozhu could speak, someone pointed at Yuan Licheng and said, ”Who is he? He wasn’t among their earlier people, there must be something wrong!”
