Abandoned Woman Busy Farming

Chapter 2431: Chapter 2432: Hidden Crisis

Yuan Licheng came in quietly and never showed up until now, making him a suspicious person.

Bai Ruozhu’s face darkened, pointing to the shadows on the ground and said, ”General Xinye, someone just attempted an assassination, and if you dig up the earth now, you’ll see the person.”

It was only then that people noticed the shadows on the ground, and Xinye’s face changed instantly, ”Shadow Ninjas?”

Jiang Yichun snorted coldly and moved to shield Bai Ruozhu. He didn’t want Xinye to keep staring at his woman.

”You’ll know once you dig them up, won’t you?” Jiang Yichun said coldly.

The soldier who reported the news earlier was also quite frightened, ”I-I didn’t see any shadow, I thought they were going to harm Master Puru.”

Xinye saw the several shadows and immediately ordered his men to dig with a solemn expression.

The Shadow Ninjas dying here did him no good, but he couldn’t resist digging to see, as he had never seen a Shadow Ninja, and many people couldn’t even guess if they were human or ghost.

”Impossible, how could you possibly kill the Shadow Ninjas? You can’t even catch them!” a samurai couldn’t help but say.

Tang Feng glanced over and said disdainfully, ”We set up an array; they couldn’t move like usual.”

Sa Tian quickly translated, and those Fusang people showed incredulous expressions, wondering which array was so formidable that they had never heard of it.

The people Xinye arranged were already digging at the nearest shadow, and after a few digs, they indeed unearthed a ninja in black clothes from the soil.

The ninja’s chest had a gaping hole from a sword, still bleeding.

Xinye squatted down and tore off his face mask, revealing a bloodless, corpse-like face.

Though the person was dead, it wouldn’t normally turn so pale so quickly, indicating that this was his natural complexion.

Moreover, there were scars across that pale face, which seemed to be many years old and blended seamlessly with the rest of the skin.

Another shadow was dug out from over there, and it too had stopped breathing. Likewise, there was a bloodless, pale face full of old scars.

”These people probably had their faces destroyed since childhood, and the wounds might be over ten years old.” Gao Zhou couldn’t help but say.

Most of the Fusang people couldn’t understand, but Sa Tian did, and said somewhat sympathetically, ”These Shadow Ninjas are pitiful too, with no identity, no face, merely killing machines.”

”When you’re being killed by them, you won’t find them pitiful at all.” Jiang Yichun said coldly.

Xinye was also in a bad mood. With so many Shadow Ninjas dead, the Emperor likely wouldn’t let this slide easily, right?

However, he was responsible for guarding this place, so even if he encountered them head-on, he couldn’t allow the Shadow Ninjas to kill the people here.

One by one, the shadows were being dug out, and Bai Ruozhu had already basically determined in her heart that they were not phantom shadows but practiced some underground hiding technique, moving beneath the ground.

But because this underground technique had flaws, they would vaguely reveal a human shape, looking like shadows.

These ninjas lived in the shadows and even spent most of their time underground practicing the hiding technique, so they were sun-deprived and their skin appeared corpse-like grayish-white.

She casually tore off a person’s headscarf and indeed revealed grayish-white hair.

”Why white hair?” Xinye couldn’t help but ask, vaguely feeling the woman before him could explain it all.

Bai Ruozhu said flatly, ”Deprived of sunlight for years.”

Xinye was still somewhat surprised, wanting to ask more, but was stopped by a fierce glare from Jiang Yichun beside him, and the words got stuck in his mouth.

Suddenly, a shadow jumped up, rushing swiftly toward the inner chamber.

A Shadow Ninja wasn’t dead yet!

At this time, Yuan Licheng’s array had already stopped, and since the Shadow Ninja emerged from the ground, no one had time to stop him!

”Protect the Master!” Gao Zhou shouted anxiously and darted off, but even though he was the nearest, he still couldn’t make it.

Xinye’s eyes widened, and suddenly a figure appeared by Master Puru’s bedside, unexpectedly a knife-wielding Xinye.

Before everyone could react, the Shadow Ninja’s knife had already struck down, and immediately there was a bang, and ”Xinye” turned into a piece of wood.

Puppet Technique! Although merely used for survival, it indeed bought time.

But Gao Zhou’s distance was still not enough, and the Shadow Ninja’s knife was viciously slashing toward Master Puru’s neck.

”No!” Sa Tian cried out in agony. Why did they want to kill the Master? Why wouldn’t they spare him even after being burnt like this?

With a crisp clang, no blood splashed as expected; the Shadow Ninja’s knife hit an invisible barrier and was bounced away.

By this time, Gao Zhou had arrived, and he struck the Shadow Ninja with a palm.

The Shadow Ninja was already seriously injured, and with his full attack aimed to kill, he hadn’t defended himself, so he was directly hit flying by Gao Zhou’s palm.

”Keep him alive!” Bai Ruozhu shouted, and Jiang Yichun had already arrived, swiftly pressing the acupoints of the Shadow Ninja.

Seeing the sudden danger averted, everyone sighed in great relief, and Sa Tian rushed to Master Puru’s side, seeing him sleeping peacefully, and joyfully knelt and cried.

Xinye’s face still showed shock. ”What just happened?”

”I arranged a magic technique, but it can only block one attack,” Bai Ruozhu said. Before, she had been sitting cross-legged by the bed cultivating essence, not out of boredom, but secretly setting up a magic defense for Master Puru, but it consumed a lot of essence, so she sat cross-legged to absorb and recover essence.

Fortunately, the essence here was incredibly absorbable; she later could assist Yuan Licheng a bit.

”Magic technique?” Xinye was somewhat intrigued.

”Just like your ninjutsu,” Bai Ruozhu answered.

Jiang Yichun was already very unhappy, pulling her to his side, ”You’ve been exhausted for half the day, rest for a while, and I’ll handle the rest.”

Bai Ruozhu vaguely sensed Jiang Yichun didn’t want her talking to Xinye anymore, finding it funny but also feeling her man was quite adorable when being jealous sometimes.

Of course, she wouldn’t upset her man by dealing with unrelated people.

Xinye quickly dismissed the idea of speaking with Bai Ruozhu, walked to Master Puru’s bedside, reached out to examine, but felt nothing.

Indeed, as she said, it could only block once.

Due to the appearance of the Shadow Ninjas, things turned strange, and those who previously accused and questioned Bai Ruozhu and the others fell silent.

Xinye, looking at the several corpses on the ground, suddenly felt a headache. Presenting them before the Emperor was evidently provocative. But he couldn’t handle it on his own, right?

Fortunately, one was kept alive. He thought for a while, then immediately sent people to inform Luzhi and General Chisong, and then had others retreat to stand guard outside.
