Abandoned Woman Busy Farming

Chapter 2045: Chapter 2044: Never Live in Pain

Bai Yihong was stunned for a moment. When did he become unwell? Wasn’t he fine?

Lin Pinger reacted quickly, pinching him secretly, and he showed a bitter expression, ”It’s as Ruozhu said.”

Jiao Yunyun became worried, ”Hong’er, I see Ruozhu’s medical skills are quite good. You should let her treat you well. You are in your prime and cannot afford to have any ailments.”

”My father’s illness lies within his heart, it needs heart medicine. As long as grandma is in good health, only then can his heart ailment be relieved,” Bai Ruozhu said hastily. She was afraid that Jiao Yunyun would think her wishes fulfilled and lose the will to continue living.

Jiao Yunyun quickly said, ”I will take good care of myself, don’t worry about me.”

Jiao Ling smiled gratefully at Bai Ruozhu, and Bai Ruozhu pointed at the dishes and said, ”Everyone, eat quickly. Today, it’s light fare, tomorrow we’ll make something better.”

Everyone picked up their chopsticks, Jiao Yunyun looked at this one and that one, feeling deeply moved. It was rare to have so many loved ones around her.

Unexpectedly, Bi Tao came in from outside holding a basket and, seeing the table full of vegetarian dishes, immediately said, ”Sister Ruozhu claims to cook deliciously, but it looks quite ordinary, don’t you even know how to cook meat dishes?”

She then showed a look of surprise, ”Is it rare for you to afford to eat meat normally?” Finishing her sentence, she covered her mouth as if she had accidentally revealed some secret.

Bai Ruozhu found it amusing. Without even understanding her family’s situation, she wanted to undermine her. Where had her previous cleverness gone?

”I just don’t eat meat regularly, and the kitchen didn’t prepare any. What’s it got to do with Ruozhu?” Jiao Yunyun said somewhat angrily.

Bi Tao cursed herself inwardly for misspeaking and hurriedly smiled apologetically, ”Granny, I misunderstood. These are fresh fruits my mother asked me to bring over.”

As she spoke, she placed the basket on the table beside them. Bai Ruozhu glanced at it—it contained oranges, peaches, and other fruits.

”Sit down and eat with us, don’t just stand there,” Jiao Ling said with a smile to her.

Bi Tao was inwardly disdainful; she didn’t want to eat this table of vegetarian dishes at all—there wasn’t a bit of oil. However, she didn’t want to upset Jiao Ling, as her mother had mentioned that Jiao Ling had inherited the true teachings of the Master in Mechanical Technique, and if Bi Tao could be accepted as Jiao Ling’s disciple, she’d surely become an expert of her generation.

She had to put on a happy face, sit next to Jiao Ling, and pick up chopsticks to taste the food.

This time she was somewhat stunned. Clearly, it was just green veggies; why did it taste different from what she usually ate? And what was this sauce?

Bai Ruozhu glanced at her reaction, secretly curling her lips. She had added her specially concocted sauce, always kept in her Space, to the green veggies—it was, of course, something good.

And what’s wrong with vegetarian fare? Many temples are famous for their vegetarian feasts. Bi Tao really was inexperienced.

”Ruozhu’s cooking is indeed delicious. Even if it’s the same vegetables, her dishes taste different,” Jiao Yunyun happily praised.

Jiao Ling laughed and said, ”Ruozhu’s medical skills and culinary skills are indeed superb, only she’s not learning Mechanical Technique very fast—too clumsy.”

Originally, Bi Tao’s heart hurt, afraid Jiao Ling would accept Bai Ruozhu as a disciple and have no energy left to take in another. But fortunately, Jiao Ling said Bai Ruozhu was too clumsy.

However, Jiao Ling’s next words left her heart half-cold.

”Luckily, she can have children. Her Dengdeng is still young, but he has great talent in Mechanical Technique. I’ve already taken him as my disciple.”

Hearing this, Bi Tao said aggrievedly, ”Wasn’t Aunt going to take me as a disciple too?”

Jiao Ling showed a troubled expression, ”I’m limited in energy. Now that I’ve taken Little Dengdeng as a disciple and have to mentor Ruozhu, I really can’t spread my energy more. Otherwise, you can just come to me if you have any questions, but you still need to find a better master.”

”I...” Bi Tao was almost in tears. Asking questions isn’t the same as being a disciple, right? You can inform a passerby, but would you teach your true skills to anyone outside your disciples?

”Alright, let’s eat first, and I’ll talk with your mother later,” Jiao Ling hurriedly gave Bi Tao a chopstick of food to divert the topic.

Bi Tao nodded aggrievedly, obediently not pursuing the issue further, which made Jiao Ling feel a bit guilty, as her senior had mentioned wanting Bi Tao to be her disciple before.

Fen Jiu soon returned, bringing some cooked dishes and rice wine, making the meal much more sumptuous, and everyone raised their cups in celebration.

After the meal, Jiao Yunyun, exhausted, was sent back to sleep immediately. Jiao Ling and Bai Yihong stayed beside her, not daring to leave, afraid that the moment they left, their mother might never wake again.

Bai Ruozhu whispered to the two, ”Grandma’s eye ailment is very serious, her tears contain blood, and she has residual poison in her body. Has no one been able to detoxify her all these years?”

”There’s never been a way to cure it, just like Elder Su’s leg poison, which is also incurable,” Jiao Ling said.

Bai Ruozhu secretly blamed the Jiuli doctors for their insufficient medical skills, but on second thought, without the ”Poison Classic,” she wouldn’t know how to detoxify either. After all, ”Poison Classic” wasn’t something just anyone could see. Nowadays, exceptional doctors are more focused on studying diseases than poison skills.

”How did grandma get poisoned?” Bai Ruozhu asked.

”After mother gave birth back then, she was found poisoned. It was suspected to be done at the Bai Family. Mother was also worried I was poisoned, too, but after an examination by the family’s doctor, it turned out I was fine,” Jiao Ling said.

Bai Ruozhu nodded, not asking further.

”Ruozhu, is mother’s illness easy to treat?” Bai Yihong asked nervously, fearing to hear bad news.

”It can be treated, but heart ailments are hard to heal,” Bai Ruozhu answered truthfully.

Jiao Ling’s eyes reddened, ”Mother often sits in the Peach Forest, unable to let go of what’s in her heart. I heard that she and that person met in the Peach Forest back then. She said that Peach Forest wasn’t as beautiful as the one at home, and they argued over it, so...”

Bai Ruozhu patted her aunt’s shoulder, ”It’s okay, we’ll slowly guide her.”

The two remained to accompany Jiao Yunyun, while Bai Ruozhu left the room to spend some time with her mother and others, but she constantly felt uneasy in her heart due to the vivid memory of the scene with Jiao Yunyun.

Why should a woman remain lonely and sad for a lifetime due to a love wound? Why can a man marry another and have children in the name of the family lineage? If Achun dared to betray her, she definitely wouldn’t dwell in pain forever. Instead, she would find a man good to both her and Dengdeng and remarry, and in the future, live better than Achun!

She thought this angrily, then found it amusing; what did this have to do with her and Achun anyway?

Subsequently, she lulled the three children to their afternoon nap but couldn’t fall asleep herself. So, she left the small building and walked towards the Peach Blossom Forest.

Her embroidered shoes stepped on a ground full of petals, with many also landing on her body. She felt a peace in her heart, her entire being becoming tranquil. No wonder grandma liked to stay here.

She walked past several peach trees and suddenly saw a pale figure in the distance. The breeze blew by, his clothes fluttered as if he were about to drift away with the wind.
