Abandoned Woman Busy Farming

Chapter 2002: Chapter 2001: Someone Was Beaten to Death

”I’ve had enough, take it away.” Jiang Yichun said coldly.

Disappointment flashed in Yue Lin’s eyes. She paused for a moment, then continued forward, ”I’ll leave it here for you, maybe eat a little bit.”

Jiang Yichun didn’t bother to argue with this woman; he’d rather chew on the dried fish his wife brought him.

Seeing him remain silent, Yue Lin thought, at least he didn’t refuse me. But she didn’t know that Jiang Yichun simply didn’t want to speak and was hoping she’d leave quickly.

”Lord Jiang, the Marshal said to take care of your health.” Yue Lin put down the tray and moved a little closer.

Jiang Yichun’s expression grew colder, ”Get out, don’t disturb me!” he shouted.

Yue Lin was startled, suddenly bursting into tears, ”Lord Jiang, I am also a female soldier going to the battlefield. I haven’t done anything wrong, how can you treat me like this?”

Jiang Yichun annoyed, rubbed his temples, ”Soldiers must obey orders, or else face military law.”

Yue Lin, a somewhat clever woman, wiped her tears and said, ”As long as you take care of your health, it’s worth it even if I face military law.”

Jiang Yichun felt nauseated, how was he not taking care of himself? This woman seemed happy talking to herself, does she not realize she’s acting foolishly?

Reluctant to argue further, he flicked his sleeve, sending a surge of inner strength that directly knocked the woman out of the tent.

”Ah...” The woman let out a shriek, alarming the guards outside.

”From now on, without my permission, don’t let any irrelevant people into the tent!” he shouted to the guards outside.

”Yes.” The two guards replied, terrified. They felt Jiang always carried an aura of coldness, even a bit of evil energy, causing them inexplicable fear.

Actually, Jiang Yichun was inherently aloof, showing a smile only to his family. Additionally, after previously absorbing evil energy, even though it’s now dispelled, his aura grew stronger than before, intimidating most people who encountered him.

After a while, the two guards felt something was amiss. The woman thrown out wasn’t moving, was she waiting for them to assist her?

Wouldn’t it be normal for her to feel embarrassed and leave?

The two exchanged glances, and one pointed at the woman, whispering, ”Why don’t you check her, otherwise letting her stay there is inappropriate.”

”Why don’t you go?” the other grumbled softly but eventually went to check.

”Miss Yue, why don’t you go back first?” The guard patted her, seeing no response; he hurriedly checked on her. ”Seems like she fainted from the fall, I’ll take her back.”

The other guard couldn’t just stand by, joined to help carry her, his hand brushing across Yue Lin’s face, suddenly stunned.

”Seems like no Qi!” he exclaimed in shock.

Both hurriedly checked Yue Lin’s breath, only to turn a shade paler.

”Gone! Lord Jiang, Miss Yue has no breath!”

Jiang Yichun, finally enjoying a moment of peace inside the tent, suddenly heard the commotion outside, feeling his temper rise. Wasn’t he aware of his own strength? He simply expelled the woman, how could she be dead?

He strode out of the tent, ”What’s with all the shouting?”

”My Lord, Miss Yue is dead!” The guards had calmed, yet still panicked. Miss Yue was Yue Shan’s daughter! Who wouldn’t know Yue Shan was recently a bandit leader, bringing along a group of fearless bandits? For his daughter to suddenly die here, this wasn’t a light matter!

Jiang Yichun frowned, reached out to check, indeed she was without breath.

He was momentarily taken aback. Though he disliked Yue Lin’s advances, he never intended to take her life; he was far from being homicidal. Quickly regaining composure, he felt something was amiss. If expelling someone with inner strength could casually cause sudden death, he could slaughter on the battlefield without the need for soldiers to risk their lives!

Moreover, Yue Lin also had some martial arts foundation; even facing the two guards outside, she wouldn’t be easily outmatched.

The word ”conspiracy” popped up. Jiang Yichun began to ponder, was it Yue Shan’s plot, sacrificing his daughter to stir a commotion? Or had a spy infiltrated, aiming to disrupt relations between Yue Shan and himself, causing chaos in the military?

Clearly, the latter seemed more plausible. If Yue Shan intended to create trouble, sacrificing a daughter after just coming over, wouldn’t that be a significant loss?

At this point, other guards noticed the situation, and the news quickly reached the Emperor and others.

”Summon Jiang Yichun here, also bring Yue Lin’s corpse, and apprehend those around Yue Lin.” Tang Yin’s voice was solemn, considering what Jiang Yichun had thought, it was evident a spy had infiltrated the army.

Once Jiang Yichun and Yue Lin’s body were brought before the Emperor, Yue Shan rushed over excitedly and in a hurry.

”Lin! Is Lin really dead?” Yue Shan, foregoing formalities, rushed to his daughter’s side and wept over her body.

”Father, calm down, little sister has always been the most filial. She wouldn’t want to see you grieving like this.” Yue Shan’s eldest son, Yue Wei, consoled him.

Glaring at Jiang Yichun, he said through clenched teeth, ”Little sister’s death cannot go unavenged!”

Yue Shan suddenly sprang up, ”Yes, Lin’s death must be avenged, I won’t fall!”

His eyes fierce, it seemed he was ready to fight Jiang Yichun.

Shen Liushan, who had arrived in time, intervened between them, ”This matter is peculiar. If it’s a deliberate provocation, failing to capture the true culprit won’t console Miss Yue’s spirit!”

Yue Shan pointed at Jiang Yichun, ”Look at him, full of killing intent. He indiscriminately attacked my daughter! I’ve never hit her, how could he decide to strike? He must have killed Lin with excessive force!”

The Emperor spoke, ”Lord Yue, I understand your feelings now, but Jiang Yichun is always prudent, would he directly kill Miss Yue? I will have this matter thoroughly investigated to ensure the true perpetrator doesn’t remain at large.”

Yue Wei, however, disagreed, ”We came halfway seeking refuge, naturally lacking His Majesty’s trust, unlike Lord Jiang being a close minister. What results can an investigation deliver?”

”Bold! I understand your grief and anger, but you shouldn’t speak of the Emperor this way,” Shen Liushan released his pressure, but softened his tone, saying, ”Why not this way, you arrange a trusted aide to investigate alongside my appointed personnel. If indeed it was Lord Jiang’s mistake, I will still apply military law.”

”Wrongful death requires a life for a life, not just military law. I hope the Marshal won’t show any favoritism then!” Yue Shan insisted firmly.

Jiang Yichun stood coldly silent; indeed clearing this matter was difficult. He insisted he hadn’t used much inner strength, definitely not enough to harm, but how to prove it?
