I Just Started College, How Could I Become a Part-Time Papa?!

Chapter 138: Chapter 87: An Overwhelming Sense of Shame

Looking at Chen Yuan beside her, Jiang Wanyi felt the urge to link her arm with his.

But she quickly suppressed the thought and the impulse.

’Things are already great as they are,’ she thought. ’I should be content and not push my luck.’

”Hey, come look at this.”

The two wandered into the clothing section, where Jiang Wanyi quickened her pace and waved at Chen Yuan.

This area primarily sold bedding—like sheets and duvet covers—as well as underwear and socks.

Each category of goods was placed in a two-meter-square bin, unpackaged and available for customers to pick through freely.

Jiang Wanyi picked up a pair of small white panties printed with little yellow ducks.

”I’ve seen this style online. I wanted to buy it for her.”

”She’s not old enough for these yet. She won’t need them until she’s at least three and in preschool,” Chen Yuan said.

Sighing, she knew her daughter couldn’t wear them now, but seeing them made her want to buy them anyway.

”You’ve successfully reined me in again.”

”But the tank top is actually really cute.”

”Tank top? What tank top...”

She glanced around but didn’t see the one Chen Yuan was talking about.

However, out of the corner of her eye, she spotted a rack behind him hung with women’s lingerie.

They were all very ordinary styles, nothing special.

There were, however, a few bra tops that looked quite nice, especially a sky-blue one with a lace design. It really did look good.

’This rascal actually has pretty good taste.’

’But he’s getting bolder and bolder, daring to recommend these things to me.’

She turned and took that bra top off the rack. ”Are you talking about this one...?”

The moment the words left her mouth, Jiang Wanyi regretted it.

She saw Chen Yuan pull a small, white tank top printed with little dinosaurs from a pile of children’s underwear.

”Isn’t it cute...?”

Chen Yuan held up the little dinosaur tank top, and at the same time, he saw the bra top in Jiang Wanyi’s hand...

”Er... I think we might have had a little misunderstanding here, didn’t we?”

”This...”

Jiang Wanyi was a little embarrassed, her face flushing a lovely shade of crimson.

”The little tank top you picked is really cute. We should buy it; it’s not expensive.”

”The one you picked is really nice too...”

PFFT—

Jiang Wanyi couldn’t help but laugh, the blush still on her cheeks.

”You really think it’s nice?”

”It’s... it’s really nice...”

Seeing Chen Yuan’s flustered expression made Jiang Wanyi want to laugh even more.

’He’s so amusing.’

”What about the color?”

”This one is great...”

”So we’ll go with this one? There’s also white and black.”

”Either is fine...”

”Are you sure ’either is fine’?”

”Actually... the black one looks pretty good too.”

’This little rascal.’

”Then let’s get the black one.”

She turned and exchanged it for the black one, only to discover the black version had a hidden detail.

The blue one had ties in the back, but the black one featured a decorative open back in the shape of a butterfly.

No wonder it was 20 yuan more expensive. So that was the difference.

After picking out the bra top, Jiang Wanyi didn’t leave right away but walked over to an adjacent rack.

It was filled with men’s underwear. She felt the material, then shook her head.

”The quality isn’t great. I’ll buy you some another day when I see some with better quality.”

”You’ve already bought me so many pairs. Between those and the ones my mom bought, I have more than I can wear.”

”You probably don’t have a habit of changing them every day, do you...?”

”If I play basketball every day, I change them every day.”

”You sweat so much playing basketball. It would be disgusting if you didn’t change,” Jiang Wanyi said. ”If you don’t want to wash them, just bring them over on the weekend and I’ll do it for you. They just go in the washing machine anyway, so it’s no trouble.”

”No way. You’re not my maid. It’s amazing enough that you cook for me. How could I possibly bring my dirty clothes over for you to wash?”

”I knew you’d say no. But still, even if you don’t play basketball, you have to change every day. You need to pay attention to personal hygiene.”

”Okay!”

After buying the clothes, they wandered back to the food section.

She bought a piece of pork belly, planning to make him braised pork belly back home.

”How have you been lately? Have you felt any stomach pain?”

”I’ve been fine, for the most part. We’ll see what happens when my period comes, but I can feel it’s really much better. The chest tightness and shortness of breath are gone, too. That Seven Treasures Water you made is definitely working.”

As she spoke, Jiang Wanyi turned to look at Chen Yuan.

They were very close, only a fist’s width apart.

”Look at the corners of my eyes. Have the wrinkles faded?”

”What wrinkles? I don’t see a thing.”

”I knew it. There’s no point asking you if I want an honest answer,” Jiang Wanyi said happily. ”After giving birth, I felt like I’d suddenly aged so much. Wrinkles even appeared at the corners of my eyes. But after drinking your Seven Treasures Water, they seem to be gone. I feel like I’m young again.”

”That means your vitality and circulation have improved. Keep drinking it.”

Chen Yuan opened his recipe book and found a formula for a Health-Boosting Tea.

It might not have been as potent as Seven Treasures Water for replenishing vitality, but it also had the benefit of regulating one’s metabolism.

Given Jiang Wanyi’s current condition, this tea would be more suitable.

”Let’s switch formulas. I’ll make you something different today. While it boosts your vitality, it can also speed up your metabolism.”

”Mm, if my metabolism speeds up, it’ll be easier to lose weight.”

”You’re not fat now.”

”I’m already 122! And you still say I’m not fat!” Jiang Wanyi whispered.

”That’s not fat. There’s an old saying where I’m from: ’A woman with substance brings fortune to the entire family.’ The key is not to be too thin. In our eyes, someone who is rail-thin doesn’t have a fortunate appearance.”

Jiang Wanyi was delighted by his words. Though she couldn’t tell if he was being serious or not, the emotional boost he gave her was more than enough.

He never gave simple compliments; he always had a reason to back them up, one that made you believe his point of view.
