The Female CEO's Personal Bodyguard

Chapter 792: Chapter 792: Could I Really Be the Son of Destiny?_1

Carson Flores felt slightly awkward, he hadn’t expected Delaney Hunter to be so attentive and understand him so well.

”After I was branded with a Spiritual Imprint on Mount Kahdas, I was hunted by Tobias Singleton after leaving. If it weren’t for Adelaide Bautista teaching me an escape technique, I might already be dead at Tobias Singleton’s hands...”

Delaney Hunter’s eyes grew a shade colder, ”Do you suspect Bryant James?”

Now that things had come to this point, there was no point in hiding anything. Carson Flores nodded, ”I humiliated his cousin on Mount Kahdas, it was like barging into his home and beating someone up. He didn’t make a move, not because he didn’t care, but because he’d already set up his next play. He thought I was a goner, so there was no need for him to get involved personally.”

Delaney Hunter sneered, ”If he confronted you himself, there would be a conflict, and if you died afterward, naturally, people would suspect him. But now, he hasn’t met you at all. If you died, who would think of him?”

Carson Flores nodded, ”Exactly, that’s what I was thinking. Only someone of Tobias Singleton’s strength, and not his cousin, could have pulled this off. Besides that, I haven’t offended anyone else, I can’t think of anyone else.”

Delaney Hunter’s gaze fell on Carson Flores’s face, and she sighed, ”Your life is quite something, targeted by your mother’s suitors in the Mortal Realm, and now targeted by those who admired your father in the Cultivation Realm. You’ve never enjoyed the love of your parents, but their grudges have been thoroughly taken care of...”

Carson Flores was rendered speechless by Delaney Hunter’s comment.

It hit too close to home.

What made it worse was that it was true, that’s what made it so unbearable.

With a helpless look, Carson Flores glanced at Delaney Hunter, ”Senior Sister, what you said makes sense, but don’t you consider my feelings?”

Delaney Hunter smiled and stretched out her hands, ”Feeling bad? How about a hug, sister?”

Carson Flores looked at the somewhat teasing and sly smile on Delaney Hunter’s face, stepped forward, and walked directly in front of her, ”Sister, do you really want to hug?”

Delaney Hunter’s face flushed for a moment, but looking at Carson Flores standing before her, and seeing the teasing look in his eyes, she gritted her teeth in secrecy, and smiling sweetly she said, ”Yes, hug me. Is there a problem?”

Both of their gazes locked onto each other, sparks of defiance and determination flying between them.

Who’s afraid of whom?

Carson Flores took another step forward, reached out, and hugged Delaney Hunter, ”I’ve been bullied, and my master doesn’t care for me, Senior Sister, you have to look out for me.”

Delaney Hunter’s pretty face suddenly flushed red, for she hadn’t expected Carson Flores to actually hug her.

She didn’t know what she was feeling, but she’d just replied moment to moment, without thinking.

With anyone else, she would rather die than speak like this, let alone embrace them, and if someone so much as touched her, she might have annihilated them on the spot. But saying it to Carson Flores, somehow the words just came out easily, with no mental burden at all.

Yet being hugged by Carson Flores like this, Delaney Hunter’s body suddenly stiffened.

It was different from that previous warm hug, which was emptional, comforting, warm, human, a tranquil warmth of the heart, but this hug had turned intimate, suggestive, with a racing pulse...

”You little rascal, what do you think you are hugging?”

Carson Flores chuckled mischievously and loosened his grip slightly, ”Senior Sister, wasn’t it you who said it?”

Delaney Hunter’s face turned red, ”Don’t get cocky, you brat. I was just trying to... comfort you, don’t overdo it.”

Carson Flores raised his arms, a picture of innocence, ”Senior Sister, why are you saying one thing and doing another, saying one thing with your lips, but your heart feels another...”

Delaney Hunter’s cheeks were pink as she smacked Carson Flores hard on the chest, ”You brat, making fun of your Senior Sister, are you?”

Carson Flores grinned, withdrew his hands, and took a step back.

Delaney Hunter glared at Carson Flores and huffed, ”No respect for your elders!”

Carson Flores just smiled, but he felt rather intricate emotions.

Some feelings, after passing through certain delicate moments, begin to stand out from the rest.

The relationship between Carson Flores and Delaney Hunter was originally just that of regular senior sister and junior brother, but the two consecutive exposures had made their originally close relationship start to develop an undertone of ambiguity.

Any woman who had her body seen by a man she didn’t dislike, even rather liked, and who was also handsome, would her mindset not change?

If it didn’t, that would be really strange.

”Master is not wrong, indeed, truly successful cultivators rely on both their own efforts and their destiny. Many talents are protected by the Sect, but die for various unforeseen reasons. Even as you mentioned, those with an Innate Taoist Body, though sheltered by the Sect, many are unable to grow and die due to special circumstances...”

Delaney Hunter fixated on Carson Flores, ”Think carefully about your life’s experiences, a lot of the time it’s really down to destiny. Some with slightly worse luck perish, but others, just the opposite, come across various fortuitous encounters, every challenge turns into an opportunity, escaping death time and again.”

Carson Flores thought about it, and it seemed to make perfect sense.

He’d faced so many dangers in his life, but each time, for various reasons, he’d managed to escape harm. Like this time, if Adelaide Bautista hadn’t taught him the Ground Shrinking Technique, he very well might have died.

It was such a coincidence!

And upon further reflection, such things had occurred more than once in his life.

Could it be that he was, indeed, a Son of Destiny?
