Doctor: I Can Synthesize Infinite Entries

Chapter 4: Chapter 4: Trending

Wu Ting chose to synthesize it immediately, his heart filled with anticipation for what kind of opportunities this special entry would bring him.

For now, however, what excited him most was his Cosmetic Grade Suturing Skill (Yellow). A small demonstration of his new skill had easily won over Qin Donglai and Cheng Feng.

After the surgery, Cheng Feng, who had previously only given Wu Ting a passing nod, suddenly became much more attentive.

”Brother Ting, your suturing technique is incredible. Could you guide me through some more suturing cases in the future?”

Cheng Feng looked at Wu Ting with a humble expression, though he had already calculated his next move. ’A great man knows when to yield. My talent for research and potential in surgery are there for all to see, I just lack experience. Once I learn this technique from Wu Ting, it’ll give me another edge in securing a permanent position at the hospital.’

Wu Ting couldn’t have been happier to grant Cheng Feng’s request. If there were more surgeries, he could cooperate with him a few more times and maybe even obtain a few more entries. It was a win-win situation.

”Of course, it would be my honor.”

Seeing Wu Ting agree so readily, Cheng Feng laughed. ”Brother Ting, you’re a class act!”

While the two little foxes were scheming with one another...

...

...

The senior doctors’ group chat was also buzzing with activity.

”As soon as the hospital announced the number of residency spots this time, it really lit a fire under these young doctors. They’re all pulling out all the stops, each showing off their unique talents.”

”You’re telling me. Even the ones who were laid-back before have started grinding, practically living at the hospital now.”

”Speaking of which, among the batch of promising residents in our emergency department, while the overall standard is good, the top contenders are still Mu Xi from the internal medicine group and Cheng Feng from the surgical group.”

”How about a little wager? I just made a betting odds table, take a look. I’ll organize it. I’ll start by putting ten on Cheng Feng and ten on Mu Xi.”

”Odds: 1. Cheng Feng 1.36; 2. Mu Xi 2.20; 3. Qian Yun 9.0... Wu Ting 81.0.”

”I’m in! I actually think that Qian Yun from the internal medicine group has a shot, too. He’s very talented in research and has been working on a project recently that has award-winning potential.”

...

As the group chat heated up, Qin Donglai scrolled through the messages. He had originally been certain about Cheng Feng, but after witnessing Wu Ting’s expert-level cosmetic suturing today, a different thought had begun to form in his mind.

Of course, given his status, he couldn’t very well bet on Wu Ting in the group chat. After all, Cheng Feng was Director Huo’s personal student, and he himself was Director Huo’s trusted subordinate. It wouldn’t look good.

Qin Donglai thought for a moment. With his position in the department, it wouldn’t be difficult to arrange for Wu Ting to be the chief surgeon for a few patients who required cosmetic suturing.

...

...

With Qin Donglai funneling resources his way, Wu Ting soon got another opportunity.

The patient was a 32-year-old male who had come to the clinic eight hours after suffering a laceration to his right lower eyelid from being struck by an object, accompanied by pain and bleeding.

Because the wound was on his face and the patient was an older, single man, his family strongly requested cosmetic suturing.

Dr. Qin supervised, Wu Ting was the chief surgeon, and Cheng Feng was the first assistant.

The anesthesiologist immediately administered local anesthesia to the patient for debridement of the contused and lacerated soft tissue on the right lower eyelid and forehead, followed by a modified buried vertical mattress cosmetic suturing technique.

”Cheng Feng, watch closely. I’ll demonstrate the key points and details one more time...”

”Intraoperative exploration reveals a partial rupture of the orbicularis oculi muscle. Next, I will fully dissect the ruptured ends of the muscle and the surrounding tissue...”

”See how I handle the dermis and the various layers of tissue. This step needs to be done perfectly to achieve precise approximation later...”

”Next is the path and method of needling...”

”Pay close attention to the ’deep-to-superficial, superficial-to-deep’ needling method. Passing through the space between the dermis and subcutaneous tissue allows for precise approximation of the incision, avoids damage to the dermis at the wound edge, and by letting the suture travel a greater distance within the dermal layer, it can grasp more dermal tissue, achieving full eversion and tension reduction at the wound edge...”

...

On the operating table, Wu Ting was truly holding nothing back, selflessly passing on his experience and techniques.

Cheng Feng was deeply moved.

”Okay, Brother Ting, I’ll be sure to remember it. It’s just, your needling is still a bit fast. I might need to observe a few more times.”

”We’re in the same department, don’t be so formal with me. Didn’t we get into medicine to save lives and treat patients? If your skills improve, more patients will receive better treatment.”

”Come on, let’s continue. Watch closely. Finally, we use a small needle and fine thread to suture the epidermis...”

Wu Ting’s honorable words made Cheng Feng feel a little ashamed. ’I was the one with selfish motives, but I never expected Wu Ting to be so magnanimous.’

”Okay, Brother Ting.”

This time, Cheng Feng was genuinely and completely convinced.

Dr. Qin, watching from the side, was also a bit surprised. Most doctors had their secrets, hiding away their unique skills. Who would be like Wu Ting, so young yet so generous?

’It’s just a pity about his academic credentials. Otherwise, he’d be very promising material.’

Dr. Qin sighed internally. All he could say was that this kid, Cheng Feng, was truly blessed to have met such a beneficial friend.

Soon, the surgery was successfully completed.

’Here it comes, here it comes! As expected, my selfless teaching and cooperation made another entry drop.’

Wu Ting checked his panel:

Looking at the panel, Wu Ting was overjoyed. ’This was a massive win.’ He had merely taught Cheng Feng a suturing technique, but in return, he had gained the tangible Gift of a Top Student.

An upgrade to his aptitude was a complete transformation.

The more Wu Ting looked at Cheng Feng, the happier he felt, though he was a bit disappointed that no entry had dropped from Dr. Qin.

’It seems the entry drops are random.’

However, as long as he kept at it, he was bound to gain something eventually.

Wu Ting looked at Cheng Feng, who was diligently reviewing the procedure, and fixed his gaze on his lucky star, offering some encouragement:

”Don’t rush. There will be plenty of opportunities. For the next patient, I’ll be your first assistant, and you can give it a try.”

”You got it, Brother Ting!”

Cheng Feng’s admiration for Wu Ting’s character grew even stronger. He was so selfless, even though they were still competitors.

Over the next few days, Wu Ting took on several more patients who required special suturing, and with Wu Ting’s detailed instruction, Cheng Feng’s skills improved by leaps and bounds.

A week later, his first patient, the minor online celebrity Xue Xiang, also had her stitches removed and was discharged.

The first thing she did after getting online was to vividly recount her recent experience at City First Hospital, especially gushing about her attending physician, Dr. Wu Ting.

”Guys, you have no idea how handsome my doctor is. Of course, his professional skills are top-notch too, especially his suturing. It’s absolutely insane.”

”The two other patients in my ward, one had a wound on their forehead, the other on their eyelid. And under his skilled hands, guess what happened!”

”Not a single scar! Those two couldn’t stop praising him either!”

Afraid her fans wouldn’t believe her, Xue Xiang even posted a handsome photo of Dr. Wu Ting in his white coat during his rounds!

In the photo, Dr. Wu Ting had fair skin, well-defined features, and refined eyes...

Instantly, netizens went wild, and the topic shot up the trending charts.

Under Xue Xiang’s video, many people left comments, saying they were willing to wait in long lines for an appointment just to see Wu Ting!
