Return of the Antagonistic Lady Boss

Chapter 434: Chapter 408: Doesn’t Count as Lying

Before the salamander left, at Lone Wolf’s grave, he hugged Qian and cried, repeatedly mentioning the same name, Hu Meijing. She took Lone Wolf’s insurance money and married another man, a heartless woman who never once looked back at Lone Wolf.

Previously, Qian had a long conversation with the salamander at Lone Wolf’s grave before he was about to leave.

The iron-blooded tough guy salamander, when mentioning this past, shed tears of sadness, but more so, of anger at the heartless woman named Hu Meijing.

When brothers ask for nothing, does even the request for a single tear become a luxury?

Qian promised she would make this woman pay the price. She took half of Lone Wolf’s insurance money but didn’t fulfill what a widow should have done, causing a great psychological shadow for those brothers. The things the salamander did to Qian naturally made her hold Hu Meijing accountable.

Qian had previously thought about settling accounts with the woman named Hu Meijing. The salamander provided her with some information, and as long as she let Zheng Xu search, they could definitely find her. But she had been too busy recently, with the engagement and then school starting, and hadn’t managed to look into this matter. Unexpectedly, she encountered a woman with the same name.

Since she promised the salamander, she would definitely get this matter done. Although she wouldn’t destroy Hu Meijing’s life, she could still teach her a lesson.

Because she was occupied with this matter, upon hearing the teacher’s goddaughter also had this name on the phone, Qian was slightly distracted.

The teacher’s eldest son was Lone Wolf. It wouldn’t make sense for the teacher to acknowledge such a heartless woman as his goddaughter, and the teacher is someone with strong logic and clear-cut love and hate, so Qian concluded it was just the same name.

The world isn’t that small; how could such a coincidence exist?

The patient Qian was treating, Chu Xuan, answered the phone. She arranged to meet him the next day for treatment at his home.

The treatment went smoothly. Mania has many classifications, and as Qian anticipated, Chu Xuan’s was one of the mildest. He is excessively energetic, sleeps only 3 hours a day, yet feels he has endless energy. He feels very cheerful and sunny but feels very depressed when he calms down. He likes to buy things he doesn’t need and gifts them, only to regret after but stubbornly won’t admit his regret.

He hasn’t reached the level of manic depression and will recover with some guidance and medication.

During the treatment, Qian also observed Hu Meijing, the patient’s relative sharing the name with the heartless woman, feeling she was a comparatively gentle woman. She is a kindergarten teacher, has a good character, and is completely unlike the heartless woman the salamander talked about. To confirm, during Chu Xuan’s treatment, she administered a psychological test to Hu Meijing, revealed a normal woman with a slightly introverted and repressive personality, unlikely to do such things.

So Qian was even more convinced that it was just the same name.

After the last treatment was completed, there was only one day left until Xiaoqiang was coming.

Hu Meijing saw Qian out of the house, gratefully saying to her, ”Thank you, Mr Chen. He’s gotten much better now and doesn’t buy random stuff anymore. Recently, he scared me so much by always buying things we don’t need and gifting them randomly. He keeps saying he’s bright and sunny, but I see him very lonely when he is alone.”

”It’s alright, this is a typical manic symptom. His condition isn’t serious, not reaching the level of two souls. I’ve treated cases that split to two souls, which are hard to treat.”

”Two souls...” Hu Meijing paused, tilting her head slightly puzzled.

”That’s just my metaphor, mania has two stages, extreme confidence and exuberance, feeling particularly sunny. Their catchphrase is I’m an optimist, but feel very lonely and discouraged when alone. Over time, it’s like having two souls, only by unifying them is the illness cured. But your case isn’t at the level of two souls.”

The topic of two souls seemed to touch something in Hu Meijing’s mind, flashing quickly.

”Mr Chen, at your young age you know so much, truly admirable.” Hu Meijing withdrew her thoughts, admiringly said to Qian.

”Your godmother is more skilled than I am.” Qian humbly replied.

”Godmother is very good to me, comes to see me every month.”

Qian observed the expressions showing a close relationship when Hu Meijing spoke of the teacher. With the teacher’s odd temperament, how could he recognize such a mundane woman as his godchild?

”Excuse my asking, how did you and my teacher meet?” Qian’s teacher in her mind was the modern version of being invincible, solitary, rarely seeing others catching her eye.

”There was a period I was hospitalized, then met godmother. We got along well, she took care of my work and life. She even helped find a job for my husband—By the way, Mr Chen, do we need to reduce medication?”

”Psychiatric drugs typically require extended use, even though his symptoms have improved, medication should continue for some time, definitely don’t reduce on your own.”

Many believe medication stimulating the brain is harmful, stopping as soon as there’s improvement, but that’s actually the most dangerous.

While chatting with Hu Meijing, Qian’s phone rang, she excused herself and took the call.

”Mei, are you busy?”

”Alright.”

”I’ll be there on time tomorrow, need to pick you up from school?”

”Sure.” Qian felt good hearing his voice.

”Uh... driving to see maple leaves? Will your relatives go too?”

His deliberately serious tone clearly entered Qian’s ear, her cheeks warmed.

This rascal, has he been waiting long to find a chance to ask her this?

”Relatives still in hometown, we can... ’drive’. ”

They conversed in their private colorful code, making Qian’s face hot but still acting calm.

”It’s a deal.”

After hanging up, Qian steadied herself, just when she wanted to advise Hu Meijing further, she saw Hu Meijing looking at her with admiration.

”Was that your fiancé?”

”Yes, my husband-to-be.”

”That’s great, but why talk about seeing maple leaves, there’s none in this season?” Hu Meijing asked puzzledly.

Qian’s face warmed, this was embarrassingly awkward.

Of course, she couldn’t explain these lovers’ little quirks to others, so she calmly shifted the topic.

”He’s not from here, hasn’t been to many places, I’ll take him to see around.”

To that place, indeed he hasn’t been...

That’s not considered lying, right?
