Return of the Antagonistic Lady Boss

Chapter 309: Chapter 287: True Colors

Many men are very concerned about their image, enjoying the appearance of being strong in front of women. They like being relied upon by women but can’t quite accept their woman being too strong.

Once the woman is too strong, and the income gap between the genders becomes too large, it’s easy for emotional rifts to occur between the couple. Some men, while spending the money their wives earn, put on a show of being deeply distressed, sullen, and under all sorts of pressure.

The top female powerhouses Qian interacted with rarely had happy marriages, simply because many men inherently have a tendency toward male chauvinism, valuing face too much, and they can’t handle their women being too strong.

She hopes that one day, she and Yu Minglang won’t end up like that.

She wouldn’t give up her career for marriage; she had to make the counseling office even better than in her past life. She needed to give Yu Minglang a heads-up in advance.

By this time, Yu Minglang had already stood up, pulling Qian onto the sofa.

Jia Xiufang couldn’t hear what was happening inside, almost sticking to the iron gate outside the courtyard like a frog.

So, did it happen, or not?

”Mom, hurry up and let’s go, if we don’t hurry, we’ll miss the number two bus...” Chen Zilong tugged at Jia Xiufang.

Only then did Jia Xiufang leave with a heavy heart.

Qian sat on Yu Minglang’s lap, accidentally recalling the incident of her period leaking in the morning. What if it leaked again while sitting on his lap and stained his pants?

The current Qian had already deeply realized one thing: around this guy Yu Minglang, anything embarrassing is possible.

But Yu Minglang wouldn’t let her run away, keeping her on his lap. Qian was still waiting for his answer to the key question but he didn’t speak for a long time, just focusing on keeping her from leaving his lap.

”Yu Minglang, what’s your answer?”

”What answer?” Yu Minglang grabbed her hand and looked, the diamond ring on her slender middle finger shining brightly, though slightly small.

Simple, huh. He really wanted to buy her a big diamond ring, to let the whole world know she was his, but alas, she was still a student, and wearing too big a ring wasn’t convenient.

”The money issue.”

”I don’t mind, I’m happy if you earn more. If you can’t earn, my money is enough to support the family. I can, like my big brother and sister-in-law, buy you many Cartiers, and I can accept you buying me some luxury items.”

Yu Minglang spoke without arrogance or inferiority; he had thought about this before.

Mei was indeed capable of making money; given her 30,000, it only took her a few months to flip it to over 40,000, akin to his own fund management. Her profession, upon graduation, would surely be lucrative.

”If I want something, I can earn it myself. I’m asking if you can accept me earning, can you accept the idea that my money is also your money?”

This question seemed trivial, but many couples broke up because of it.

Just how important is a man’s face? Even Qian, as a psychologist, couldn’t specifically answer, only able to say that males evolving from primitive society hold face in high regard, an instinct of the male species.

They can forego life but must have face; men who live off women are the other extreme, not included here.

”I’m proud of your excellence, which also signifies my good judgment. If you’re willing to share your excellence with me, I’m also very willing to accept it. Thank you for the contribution to our future home.”

”The contribution and sense of mission of a profession can’t be measured by money, though you’re currently busy with work, dealing with a bunch of historical issues after taking over the company. But I believe you can achieve achievements no less than those of my big brother in the future. You have a tolerant heart, and I’m very happy. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to expand my ambitions.”

Qian wasn’t deliberately saying nice things to flatter Yu Minglang, that’s genuinely how she felt.

Maybe it was the deep influence Yu Xiaoqiang had on her in her past life.

She couldn’t change how others thought, after all, with the rapid economic development, values would evolve towards a money-first orientation. Though he was so rich, maybe he’d struggle to accept a career woman, but he was tolerant, without a trace of complaint.

Yu Minglang looked at her, moved, her words striking deep in his heart.

Mei’s wisdom, Mei’s beauty, Mei’s unique temperament all allowed her better choices, so Yu Minglang wasn’t very confident when proposing.

But she understood his heart so well; her every word profoundly touched his heart.

”Mei, I’m very happy to have met you.” He hugged her tightly.

What a blessing it is, to meet her in this life.

”I feel the same way, when you sought me, you knew I wasn’t a virtuous woman, and when I sought you, I knew you were a man with ambition. I’m just talking to you about the potential issues we might face in the future. Mutual understanding is the cornerstone of maintaining family stability. Yu Minglang, I understand your work, and you understand mine. Let’s not equate the value of work with money. Can we do that?”

He held her tightly.

”Absolutely. When I started a business, you waited for me, supported me mentally. If you want to advance your career in the future, I can also protect the family with you. We’ll work hard together, struggle and fight together.”

His Mei, truly a special girl, addressed potential conflicts between them in the most straightforward way. After laying out her attitude towards work, she gave him enough respect.

Even though Yu Minglang thought the same, that emotional value shouldn’t be measured by money.

But coming from Qian’s mouth, the level of emotion geometrically increased.

Seeing Yu Minglang so moved, Qian quickly took the opportunity to mention her shortcomings.

”Xiaoqiang, think it over. I can’t cook, I really can’t. After you marry me, you won’t have a hot meal; I could burn the kitchen down. I’m not joking, I’m serious. And even though I can tidy the house, if I’m too tired from work, I wouldn’t want to move. You have to be psychologically prepared for all these.”

Yu Minglang saw her speaking so seriously and thought, is it really that severe?

”As long as the food is cooked, that’s fine; taste doesn’t matter. Now that we’re engaged, there’s a few years until we marry. If you can’t eat at the cafeteria then, if my work keeps me so busy I can’t care for you, you should at least make do with a bite to eat yourself. If I’m home, I’ll cook for you. It doesn’t matter.”

Qian shook her head vigorously.

”It’s not as simple as you think. I’ll — never mind, I’ll make one for you to see, then you’ll know. Just be prepared that you might have to cook in the future at home.”

It’s time for Yu Xiaoqiang to see the real me. Qian touched her ring; after all, it’s already on, even if he regrets it, it’s too late...
