Return of the Antagonistic Lady Boss

Chapter 307: Chapter 285: Marry Him

Yu Minglang stepped out from Hai Zhao’s place, drenched in cold sweat. The breeze cleared his head instantly.

He didn’t expect the issue to be this serious. Just thinking about Qian’s angry expression made his scalp tingle.

Standing by the roadside for a long time, he decided to act swiftly, head straight to her place, and refuse to leave until she forgives him.

With only some spare change in his pocket, Yu Minglang returned home to grab some money, and fearing it might not be enough, he went to his brother’s place to borrow some more. He then went to the mall to buy a ring and to a flower shop to buy a bouquet of fiery roses. This time, he confirmed they were indeed roses.

He even compared them with carnations and found they didn’t look much different.

But women’s hearts are complex; a tiny error can lead to huge discrepancies. Yu Minglang thought his own Mei was already quite reasonable. His friends’ wives often lose their temper for no reason. His Mei wouldn’t fuss over anything unless it was a matter of principle. Hai Zhao had just told him that if he met a narrow-minded woman, they might have broken up already over what he did.

With a determined mindset, Yu Minglang headed to Qian’s place.

No matter if she beats him to a pulp, he had to make sure she forgives him. Hai Zhao also mentioned that proposals might need a few tries.

When he arrived at Qian’s place and saw her struggling to move around with a gammy leg while looking for a drink, he couldn’t even bother with the flowers anymore and rushed straight to her.

”How did you end up like this?”

His heart ached, seeing not only her twisted ankle but a blue bruise on her forehead.

Upon seeing him, Qian was so angry she hit him fiercely with her hand. Not satisfied with just hitting, she grabbed her mom’s feather duster and whacked him with it.

”You bastard! How dare you come here!”

Jia Xiufang saw that Yu Minglang didn’t dodge and forcefully snatched the feather duster from Qian, pointing at her forehead to scold her.

”You’re careless even while showering, yet you have the cheek to blame Minglang. It’s fortunate that Minglang has a good temper; any other man would have been furious!”

”Auntie, let her hit me, I’m fine. How exactly did this happen?”

He’d only been apart from her for a few hours, how did she end up looking like a wreck?

”Don’t even mention it, this girl wasn’t showering properly, was covered head to toe in bubbles, and somehow slipped in the shower. Came out with a twisted ankle and hit her forehead. Why didn’t she hit her head enough to knock some sense into it?!”

Jia Xiufang’s rant didn’t extinguish Qian’s anger. Instead, she glared at Yu Minglang with even greater hatred.

”It’s all your fault!”

”Yes, it’s all my fault, don’t be angry. If you get upset, my heart aches.”

Yu Minglang now only remembers Hai Zhao’s advice: no matter how angry Mei gets, always admit fault first.

”Don’t you dare play the innocent, pretending to be the good guy. It’s all your fault! If it weren’t for you, how could I end up this way, ah ah ah ah!” Qian vented her frustration by grabbing his hand and biting it fiercely.

Jia Xiufang quickly pulled her away, even giving her shoulder a couple of light taps out of frustration, ”You girl, are you part dog? Don’t keep bullying the honest Minglang!”

”Honest my foot! It’s all his fault!”

After her last call with Yu Minglang, Qian had been waiting for him to call again. She was smeared with layers of shower gel, while the bathroom drain at home had some blockage, causing slow drainage. As she was rinsing off the bubbles, she heard her phone ring, thinking it was him calling back, and hurried to grab it.

Unfortunately, her vision wasn’t great without glasses, and combined with shampoo in her eyes making them hard to open, she reached out, destabilized her footing, and with a crash, fell hard. Not only did she sprain her ankle, but she also hit her forehead. Fortunately for her, she managed to grab the bathtub during the fall, slightly cushioning herself; otherwise, she might have ended up with a concussion.

After such a fall, her mind was still fixated on checking her phone.

Upon opening the message, she was nearly furious to death.

Dear customer, your mobile account is overdue...

Seeing Yu Minglang, the primary culprit, daring to show up at her door now, Qian burned with rage.

Back in the village, battling cunningly with a group of miscreants, she’d never managed to hurt herself this much.

Returning home, spurred by her foolish boyfriend, she ended up stumbling in the bathroom, getting this injured. That’s mortifying to even mention!

It felt like all her good luck had been used up in the mountains, and upon returning, everything turned unlucky.

”You girl, all you do is bully the honest ones. If you keep bullying Minglang, I’ll smack you!” Jia Xiufang only made verbal threats, her hand was gentle.

Yu Minglang nodded knowingly, ”Auntie, she’s not bullying me, she’s just playing around with me.”

”Lang, you might want to get a rabies vaccine. Look at how deep she bit you!” Chen Zilong, yawning, came down from upstairs and upon seeing the huge bouquet of roses Yu Minglang brought, his eyes lit up.

”Lang, you bought so many flowers!”

”You’re so talkative!” Qian slapped Chen Zilong’s hand that was reaching for the flowers.

”I’m going grocery shopping, Minglang stays here for dinner. Chen Xiaoqian, don’t bully Minglang while I’m gone!” Jia Xiufang issued a half-hearted warning to Qian, taking her scoundrel son out the door.

These days, they ought to stock up on groceries for the New Year.

With only Qian and Yu Minglang left in the house, Yu Minglang sidled up with a cheerful smile.

”Qian, don’t be mad at me anymore. I know I was wrong.”

”What did you do wrong, it’s all my fault, my mistake! You see, even my mom sides with you, almost like you’re her actual son. I’m just her daughter from a mobile top-up promotion!”

She got hurt like this, and her mom didn’t even sympathize, only kept saying she deserved it, chastising her for not being careful at her age.

But after biting Yu Minglang a few times, even her scoundrel brother sided with him, her mom sided with him!

”It’s all the same, my mom sides with you too. She almost slaughtered me just now, really Qian! If I wasn’t quick to dodge, I’d surely be a ghost beneath her scalpel.”

”Scalpel?”

”Isn’t that right? Just because she thought I bullied you, she even took out her bone-setting tools, they shimmered with a cold sheen, the next moment she was swinging them at my face!”

”...So, Auntie mentioned the engagement matter just because of this misunderstanding?”

Qian felt warm inside; the Yu Family’s parents were kind-hearted. Even if it was just a misunderstanding, their attitude was touching.

Generally, in such matters involving the girl, there could be some tension from the boy’s parents; older generations particularly emphasized these issues. But upon returning, Mrs. Yu never even mentioned this incident, only feeling sorry for her losing weight outside.

This family seems nice; if she marries into it, there probably won’t be major conflicts.

”More or less, I didn’t bother explaining any further with her. After all, sooner or later we—uh, no, I didn’t mean that.”

Thinking of Hai Zhao’s advice, Yu Minglang grabbed the roses, intending to kneel for a proper proposal, but then...
