Return of the Antagonistic Lady Boss

Chapter 306: Chapter 284: Proposing Again (Bonus for 900+ Monthly Votes)

Yu Minglang, who was still clinging, got sprayed with beer by Hai Zhao.

He disdainfully looked for a tissue to wipe, ”You don’t have something like foot-and-mouth disease that you could infect me with through droplet transmission, right?”

”Cough, cough!” Hai Zhao was still coughing.

After quite a while, he finally patted his chest.

”I almost choked to death, and if I die young, it’ll be your fault—Yu Minglang, you didn’t propose to her, yet you directly told her you’re going to her house? And you’re bringing your mom?”

This joke is definitely the best of the year!

He couldn’t handle it anymore; he had to organize his thoughts and send a broadcast text. He had to send it to each of his friends, one by one; Hai Zhao was going to laugh himself silly.

Yu Minglang watched him laugh like a lunatic, eyebrows furrowing.

”Is it really that funny?”

He was quite serious; bringing his parents over, isn’t that enough to show sincerity?

Should he bring his grandfather too? But his grandfather is so old...

Hai Zhao was pounding the table in laughter, tears streaming down his face.

”That academic goddess of yours hasn’t broken up with you?”

”How could she possibly break up with me!”

Yu Minglang couldn’t bear hearing the word ”breakup” now; it just made him anxious.

There was quite a feeling of anger and shame, making things worse.

Hai Zhao saw he was sulking, originally intending to be serious, but ended up bursting into laughter again.

”Keep acting like a fool, and I’ll punch you!” Yu Minglang shook his fist, making Hai Zhao shut up.

But his cheeks swelled up from holding back; after Hai Zhao absorbed this joke, he kindly gave Yu Minglang some advice.

”You can’t do it like this; doing it this way, be careful not to stay single for life. You need to be more sincere.”

”How is it insincere? If she weren’t a bit young and I’d like her to experience more of young life, I would have directly married her.”

This was the condition of their relationship, a promise made when they first got together.

Under the influence of Mr. Yu, the kids of the Yu Family are instilled with the theory that a man must treat his wife well—apart from Yu.

But Mr. Yu and Yu Laomao are absolute believers in this theory.

When Mr. Yu first met his elder sister-in-law, he was already a budding entrepreneur, surrounded by a bit of this and that, never buying anything for those he didn’t care about. People said he was stingy.

But after knowing his elder sister-in-law for only two weeks, he directly married her in a flash, and from then on, his buying spree was unstoppable.

Sister-in-law’s material needs weren’t high, and sometimes she would advise him against buying so much, but she couldn’t stop him. Mr. Yu always secretly bought things, and eventually, his wife became numb to it and just let him buy.

Under Mr. Yu’s example, the men of the Yu Family have adopted the belief that spending money on one’s wife is an honor, while spending on other women is a disgrace. Yu Minglang is obviously heavily influenced by this; he wanted to shield Mei under his wing when they first met, sincerely wanting to treat her well.

Marriage is the thing the men of the Yu Family value the most—Yu is the exception.

Hai Zhao was quite speechless about his righteous attitude.

”You think marriage is good for the girl, but what does she think?”

”Of course she thinks so too; why bother with a relationship if it doesn’t lead to marriage? Great people have said that any romance not aimed at marriage is abnormal, like you!”

So far, Comrade Yu Minglang feels incredibly wronged; he has a heart full of devotion while Qian has taken the moon to the ditch instead.

”Fine, you say I’m abnormal, but at least I’m the kind of man who willingly makes girls follow! Yu Minglang, you’re sincere, but you’ve been rejected, haven’t you?”

Yu Minglang slammed the table, ”Who rejected me! My Mei likes me! Just wait, I’ll call and prove it!”

He took out his phone, glanced at it, and pretended, saying.

”There’s no signal here.”

Hai Zhao nearly pulled his mouth back to his ear.

”You’re not new to my place; you know there’s no signal in my store.”

With interference in electronics stores, calls often lose signal towards the back, and Yu Minglang is clearly insecure about calling.

”Supposedly, a man who has reached your level deserves a sympathetic laugh, but now I sympathize with your academic little sister.”

Ending up with someone who doesn’t even know how to propose like Yu Minglang, how pitiful is that?

”Why sympathize with her! She’s going to marry me, and I’ll do my utmost to make sure no other woman compares to her!”

Yu Minglang still has this determination to strive.

Hai Zhao made a vomiting gesture in disgust, ”Say that to her, not to me! If you propose by saying things like this, would she hang up your call?”

”Are you saying she thinks I didn’t say something nice, so she got upset?” Yu Minglang shook his head to deny it, ”Impossible, my Mei isn’t that kind of girl; she’s really rational and mature.”

”How is this related to maturity and rationality? 99% of girls hope to be sincerely proposed to by their beloved; you’re expecting her to be the other 1%, using maturity to constrain her. Really, Yu Minglang, if you get dumped someday, I wouldn’t be surprised at all.”

Yu Minglang went ”Ah” in realization, suddenly enlightened.

So, this is why Mei hung up on him.

Yeah, think about it, it’s just like this!

If Mei was truly upset, she’d definitely remove the battery and ignore him, but she answered three times, and the last time she hung up after one ring...

Frantically reacting, Yu Minglang calmed himself by swallowing a mouthful of beer, suppressing the tension as he asked.

”So, if I didn’t say the right thing three times in a row, and the last time she hung up after just one ring, how should I handle it?”

”Simple, give her all your money.”

”Will she forgive me and not be mad then?” Most of his money is with her now; during their last argument, Mei said she earned over ten thousand from stocks, what a capable wife.

”No, it’s her solace fund; once you compensate for the emotional damage, you should just disembowel yourself. Really, one or two times might be excusable, but three or four? No woman would want you, especially someone with education, looks, brains, and capability—besides, I heard her family has money from demolition, they’re rich second-generation, Yu Minglang, what do you have besides a bit of stubbornness?”

Even Hai Zhao knows, although Yu Minglang comes from an impressive background, his father is a stubborn man almost inhuman in nature, successful in business yet providing no networking convenience for any of his children.

Without family background, Yu Minglang is just good-looking and busy with work. It’s normal for Qian not to fancy him.

Especially since he messed up four times without realizing it; even ordinary girls would be angry, let alone someone as top-tier as Qian.

Though it’s a sad story, Hai Zhao inexplicably wanted to laugh; he wasn’t intentionally being schadenfreude, but who told Yu Minglang to dig his own grave!
