Return of the Antagonistic Lady Boss

Chapter 304: Chapter 282: I Have Something to Ask You (Birthday + Update)

Qian listened as Yu Minglang recounted the whole series of events, and immediately felt at a loss for words.

If only she had changed the bedsheets before leaving the hospital.

Such a misunderstanding makes any explanation awkward.

”You might as well tell her the truth; if you don’t explain clearly, Auntie will definitely dislike you for a long time.”

”I feel like I can’t explain it clearly...” Yu Minglang muttered.

Qian thought about it, piecing things together, and quickly drew a conclusion.

”Yu Xiaoqiang, do you want to marry me?”

If Yu Minglang really wanted to explain, there was a way to resolve this issue, but he chose to keep silent, which was worth pondering.

”I think you’re not done with college yet; getting married might not be convenient for you.”

After this incident, Yu Minglang really wanted to secure a stable relationship status for himself; he was afraid Mei might randomly break up with him again, and he felt like she’s the one for him and wanted to settle down. Moreover, he feared any rumors in the future might be bad for Qian, so it seemed easier to just formalize their relationship.

”Since you know, why ask me?” Qian was now frustrated about why he hadn’t formally proposed; how could he have his family pressure her?

”I think we can get engaged first.”

This was the solution Yu Minglang came up with after much thought.

After all, Mei was his, and he had committed to this woman for life. He was also focused on building his career while Mei had her studies. Getting married too early could interfere with her education, but engagement was different.

Yu Minglang no longer wanted to be someone who could be kicked out by others at any moment; although engagement wasn’t legally binding, at least it gave him some comfort.

”Oh, you think it’s okay, then go get engaged to yourself, since you’ve agreed to it.”

After Qian finished speaking, she hung up the phone.

Absolutely infuriating!

Can’t he say something nice?

If he hasn’t eaten pork, he’s at least seen pigs run, right?

Proposing to a girl, do you think it’s okay, but have you asked others?

After the call was cut off by Qian, Yu Minglang wasn’t discouraged but persistently called back.

”Mei, I can’t engage myself; I want to get engaged to you. We’re very suitable together, we’ve known each other for quite some time, don’t you think we’re a good match?”

”Suitable.”

”So, we should get engaged. My mom and brother plan to visit your home tomorrow to talk to Auntie, do I need to prepare anything?”

”Do whatever you want; I’m too lazy to care!”

Seeing that he couldn’t get to the point, Qian hung up the phone again and screamed silently at the mirror.

Damn man, he almost made her aunt flo’s visit overwhelming!

Actually, if she considers things logically, Yu Xiaoqiang isn’t a chauvinistic man; he respects Qian on many issues. He acted today out of urgency, although he occasionally acts a bit foolishly. Qian knows that he is considerate in his actions, just that sometimes his perspective might be a bit quirky.

Take today’s issue, for example: a man with this kind of personality saying something improper isn’t that strange. If Qian were more rational, she could completely ignore it; his desire to propose is quite sincere, it’s just his way of expressing it that’s the problem.

But for major life events, she can’t be rational.

This is seriously a case of the more mixed up, the more ruined. In his previous life, when he proposed to her, he at least bought a ring and even knelt down.

But now, he casually mentions bringing his family over tomorrow; this is too casual.

Yu Minglang got hung up on twice in a row, sensing that she seemed angry. But he didn’t know why she was angry.

He pondered for a full 3 minutes before calling again, becoming very cautious.

”Mei, do you think there’s something I need to change?”

”You don’t need to change; everything you’re doing is right. If you’re wrong, then the world must be wrong.” Qian turned on speaker phone and rubbed shower gel all over herself, covered in bubbles.

Thinking about Yu Minglang’s careful and cautious demeanor on the other end of the call made her both angry and amused.

Isn’t a sniper supposed to hit the target with one shot?

How silly has he become, after so many tries? She hadn’t shut the phone off nor refused to answer his calls, just giving him time to think about the reason, yet he still failed to address the key issue.

”Mei, have I made you angry?” Yu Minglang found it difficult to gain any valuable information from her calm tone.

”You guess?”

She was now even too tired to be angry.

A man who doesn’t know how to propose — what else does she need to say?

Qian rarely acted coquettish; she just felt that Yu Minglang should be the one to make the first move, and then she would smoothly agree. However, since he didn’t say anything, she didn’t want to hint at it; hinting felt too frustrating.

”Then, what kind of engagement ring do you like? How about getting a diamond one?”

Girls love this topic, he thought to himself, feeling proud.

She hung up again without giving him an answer, as the sound of beeping came from the other end.

Women are indeed complicated creatures, Yu Minglang thought as he frowned, clutching the beeping phone. He felt like Mei was angry, but why was she angry?

Does she not want to get engaged to him?

It shouldn’t be; he clearly felt after the rescue that her attitude towards him had changed, especially when she wore the bracelet and mentioned she wouldn’t take it off, ever.

Isn’t that a promise of a lifetime?

Yu Minglang wanted to call again; he brought up the number, and as soon as it connected, he hung up before Qian had time to answer.

No, this time he must succeed; he needs to be careful and find someone to ask for advice.

During this time, Qian also did some reflecting.

She wondered if she was asking too much of a man who had a relationship deficit and emotional hygiene; maybe he’s been unable to figure it out.

How about if he calls again, she lightly hints at it?

If he wants to get engaged, at least there should be a proposal process!

She didn’t care about the engagement rituals or bride price, but he couldn’t just ask nothing, not even animals know to bring some flowers or build a nest in mating rituals.

Is this guy trying to skip this step?

No way!

But Yu Xiaoqiang actually didn’t call again, leaving Chen Xiaomei feeling frustrated.

If she were to analyze this from her professional perspective, she’d think it was a coquettish girl encountering a dull man, each taking a step back; she should directly tell him that he needs to propose for her to agree.

However, dismissing professionalism and viewing the issue from a girl’s emotional perspective, getting engaged without a proposal feels imperfect.

Psychologists are rational with everyone except when dealing with their own lovers; they become too emotional.

Meanwhile, Yu Xiaoqiang made the call to his childhood friend Hai Zhao.

”Bro, do you have time to go out and have a drink? I have something to ask you.” When seeking advice from a love guru, there’s no way this could go wrong.

At this moment, Chen Xiaomei and Yu Xiaoqiang were unaware that while they were sweetly playing out affectionate acts with emotionally sweet little troubles, a plot was quietly brewing.
