Return of the Antagonistic Lady Boss

Chapter 139: Chapter 139: Rapidly Boosting Favorability

”Stupid kid! Asking for a kick!” Mr. Yu indeed had the idea of scaring Qian a little.

With the previous troublesome incident with the second family, Mr. Yu felt that not just anyone should be allowed into his home. Learning from past lessons, the quality bar should be set high.

As a result, this little brat Yu Laomao came up and dismantled his dad’s stance, giving him no face at all, making Mr. Yu angry and embarrassed, and he swung a foot over.

Before joining his old unit, Yu Laomao got punched by his dad every day, and he was long used to it.

But Qian couldn’t stand watching Mr. Yu really kicking.

”Uncle, please don’t hit him.”

Qian pulled Yu Minglang to her side, and this action made everyone in the room stop smiling.

Knowing to protect Yu Laomao showed that Qian had Yu Minglang in her heart, but openly defying Mr. Yu could easily incur the stubborn old man’s disapproval. If she was disliked by Mr. Yu, the future wouldn’t be easy.

Qian smiled slightly, ”He bought new pants today, and if they get dirty, they are hard to clean...”

”Yeah, I’ll wear big shorts tomorrow and practice horse stance, Dad, kick all you want!” Yu Minglang immediately followed the rhythm.

Pfft, Mrs. Yu laughed, Mrs. Yu was relieved, and Mr. Yu sitting on the sofa gave Yu Minglang a thumbs up, ”Great, this is better eyesight than the second one.”

Mr. Yu was also amused by Qian.

This young girl is interesting. She can speak out and retract her words, knows how to use humor to lighten the mood, obviously thinking on her feet.

Qian was pulled by Mrs. Yu to sit on the sofa, with Mrs. Yu sitting beside her. Mr. Yu felt that his family had all been captured by this young girl. As the last stand of the Yu family, he couldn’t be taken down so quickly. They had just met; he had to talk some more to find out what this girl was about.

So Mr. Yu restrained his laughter and seriously asked Qian,

”Who do you have in your family, what do your parents do, what are your future plans?”

Mrs. Yu almost went over to tug his ear, ”You old fool, what are you doing, interrogating a criminal?”

Even if not just a teenage girl, even a grown man would tremble if interrogated by Mr. Yu. If he scared the girl, Mrs. Yu would surely fight him to death.

Yu Minglang was also a bit worried, ”Dad, you—”

”You shut up! Did I ask you? Sit down properly!” Mr. Yu slapped the sofa, and Yu Minglang sat obediently.

Yu Minglang knew that if he spoke up for Qian now, the stubborn old man in his family would surely look down on Qian. He made up his mind; if the old man scared Qian, he’d take her away. They could skip the meal, but he wouldn’t let the girl get scared. Later, he’d tell his mom about the old man’s stash of alcohol; if he offends his girl, no one gets off easy!

Looking over at Qian, Yu Minglang was slightly relieved. Qian appeared normal, not looking angry or scared.

”My parents just divorced, my mother takes care of me and my brother. My mother is just an ordinary small trader, but in my heart, she’s as great as any mother in the world. It’s hard for her to take care of me and my brother. In the future, I plan to open my own psychological counseling office. I will make sure with my own strength that my mother can enjoy her later years, and I’m confident I can make my mother proud without relying on anyone.”

Also speaking about her mother’s hardships, Qian’s expression was far better than that creature from the second family, thousands of times better.

The creature always cried with tears and snot, saying how hard it was for her mom to raise them, and if Mr. Yu didn’t help her mom, it would be unfair to her whole household registry. The creature was absent today, and Mrs. Yu was extremely thankful, glad she didn’t encounter her, as it was the first time Laomao brought back a girlfriend and she couldn’t let the second family spoil it.

”Are you studying psychology?” Even Mr. Yu who often watched the news knew a bit about this emerging occupation of psychologists and wondered, could this petite girl really take on such a role in the future?

”Yes.”

”Qian is a star student at BD Normal University, if she hadn’t been sick during the exam, she’d be the top scorer.” Yu Minglang began to show off again.

Mr. Yu glanced coldly, ”Did I ask you? Did I let you speak? No organization, no discipline, so sloppy!”

Qian almost wanted to laugh, now she finally understood whom Xiaoqiang’s tendency to make a big deal out of nothing resembled.

Yu Minglang spoke at the right moment, allowing Mr. Yu to gain more goodwill towards Qian, even though they had long known this girl was a top student. Seeing it firsthand was different from imagining it.

”Have you considered joining the psychological intervention team in the flying squad where the second brother works after graduation?” Mr. Yu asked.

Yu Minglang rolled his eyes, this old man was so annoying. He clearly thought highly of his girl but had to pretend to be dissatisfied.

”No,” Qian answered very decisively.

”Oh?” Mr. Yu was curious, ”Why not?”

”I won’t go because second brother is over there.”

”Are you avoiding suspicion?”

”Not at all, I believe in my strength. Even if I joined, I could shed the halo brought by second brother. I just purely don’t want to go.”

What a joke, she had no intention of joining such a place; she wanted to follow the same path as in her previous life, the path of technological wealth and authority in psychology. That’s what Qian thought, though she didn’t articulate it that way.

Her domineering explanation made everyone in the Yu family seriously consider whether this young girl was arrogant or confident.

”Explain what you mean.” Daring to speak ill of the cherished blue sky was asking to anger everyone in this room. Mr. Yu could kick her out. Mr. Yu’s wife’s slip of the tongue saying flying was not as good as doing business got her chased out by a nanny, now never received well by Wang Xiaohong.

To him, the sky held a special significance.

”The family we’re born into is not our choice. Minglang bears the halo given by your generation, seemingly born with a silver spoon. But he also faces pressure. To rid himself of this halo, he will put in more effort than others. Initially, people may view him through tinted glasses, and he’s also working hard now. But I believe his abilities will eventually surpass his family’s halo. If he can do it, so can I.”

After Qian finished speaking, the room fell silent.

Only Yu Minglang looked at her with sparkling eyes, just short of hugging Qian and giving her a kiss. A soulmate!

She didn’t avoid acknowledging Mr. Yu’s identity and was very clear and moving in her words.

Mrs. Yu proudly looked at her mother-in-law, as if to say, ”How about that, spot on! I’ve never misjudged before!”

”Since you find it good, why wouldn’t you want to come?” Mr. Yu’s old habit popped up again.

Even if Qian said she wanted to come, he wouldn’t drag relationships, but her refusal irked Mr. Yu; it was a unique belief from his era.

”Old man, that’s enough. If she said she wanted to come, you’d think she was opportunistic. She says she won’t, and you still have a problem. Why are you making such a fuss!” Mrs. Yu couldn’t listen anymore.

”It’s okay, Auntie. I can explain this question.”
