Return of the Antagonistic Lady Boss

Chapter 126: Chapter 126: Saying One Thing and Meaning Another

Interacting with Chen Xiaoqian, it’s easy to be swept along by her emotions, and she does it quietly.

”If you’ve been close with someone and suddenly lose contact, there are several scenarios. Most commonly, he feels like he holds your emotional switch in his hand without investing much in you. He finds you shallow and can’t be bothered, and that’s the beginning of boredom.”

So, whatever Yu Minglang gives her, she’s bold enough to accept. When a woman accepts a man, it starts by making him give everything, squeezing him dry. The premise is acceptance, because if you don’t accept and still take from him, that’s being a gold digger.

Shi Yu nodded in understanding, but she felt her situation wasn’t like that.

She looked at Qian expectantly, hoping she would continue.

”There’s another scenario where a man needs his space. If interactions are intense and he suddenly disappears, don’t fret. He’ll drift for ten days or half a month and then return. It’s a man’s nature; they’re like springs needing space.”

”It’s not like this either...”

”Then there’s the last scenario.”

Shi Yu felt the last scenario was what she needed to hear, gazing eagerly at Qian, but Qian didn’t continue and instead threw her an original text book.

”In future consultations regarding love life, please pay me by the hour. All the answers are in the book; go find them yourself.”

”Hey! Leaving things half-said, why be so vile!” Shi Yu felt frustrated by Qian’s dangling conversation, took the book Qian handed, flipped it open, and found it full of gibberish.

”In freshman year, what the heck is this?” She handed the book to Dong Yi.

Dong Yi’s English wasn’t as strong as Qian’s, but he could understand some simple parts.

”Loveyourself, love yourself.”

Shi Yu was puzzled; she asked about relationships and got this thing. What’s the meaning?

”Find yourself, love your most genuine self, and you will naturally attract others to love you—besides, such simple English and you don’t know it? How did you pass college entrance exams? Girl, I worry for you, what will you do about future language tests?”

After cautioning the landlord’s silly daughter, Qian silently put on her headphones, watching Criminal Psychology while listening to French beginner audiobooks, multitasking.

”How did I end up in the same dorm with a study genius? It’s too discouraging. By the way, Qian is reading books not related to your major, right?” Shi Yu chatted with Dong Yi; Qian was already in study mode, ignoring everyone.

”Yes, she reads about criminal psychology.”

”This weirdo... By the way, is the rumor true? The one where Qian took on a professional course teacher all by herself.” Within days of starting school, rumors about Qian were spreading.

”It’s true.”

”So, she was really watching other books with headphones during a major class, got called out by the teacher, and debated with the teacher all class, leaving the teacher speechless?”

Dong Yi nodded; she sat next to Qian when Qian confronted the professional course teacher.

This was Qian’s most impressive feat after becoming famous for singing a godly song at the freshman welcome party. When the teacher found her reading criminal psychology instead of the course materials, he angrily called her to answer questions.

Unexpectedly, Qian stood up and explained better than the teacher. In a past life, she was a doctorate in this major, and the teacher was just a lecturer, not even an assistant professor, so he couldn’t possibly win against Qian.

Originally intending to make it difficult for Qian, it turned into a debate between Qian and the teacher, which ultimately ended with the teacher having nothing left to say, allowing her to study whatever she wanted silently going forward.

Qian was a legend with no trace; she wore headphones in mandatory classes to self-study other books, and for non-mandatory ones, she just hung out in the library, skipping class.

Known as the top genius in Science College, but reportedly, she studied humanities in high school. The psychology major accepts both arts and sciences aspirants. Normally, arts students aren’t at an advantage, but Qian went on to break records.

Indeed, university is a place where legends are born.

”The world of geniuses is too dangerous. I’ll just roll back and continue being a study bum.”

Shi Yu pulled out a Taiwan romance novel from under her pillow; it’s easy to tell a genius from a study bum by the books they read.

Qian didn’t intend to waste her college years. Although she already mastered her major, there was more to learn beyond it.

When she enrolled, she considered whether to earn money early while getting her diploma or to earnestly learn more.

Her research in her previous life was applied psychology, primarily working as a psychological consultant, engaging more with marriage and emotional counseling. In this life, she was focusing on the unfamiliar criminal psychology and developmental psychology. Developmental psychology primarily studies characteristics of human growth stages, focusing on children.

This subject she certainly needed to fill in, feeling she owed her daughter from a past life.

As for learning criminal psychology... Minglang’s image flashed in her mind, and Qian shook her head. It wasn’t for him; she just wanted to be well-equipped.

She could earn money anytime, but to calmly immerse herself in learning—which was during these college years—it was hard to come back once, and Qian didn’t want to waste her chance for self-improvement.

She finished listening to the cassette and prepared to flip it over.

She happened to hear Shi Yu asking Dong Yi.

”Hey Dong Yi, from a psychology point of view, why is the overbearing CEO in the book I’m reading so in love yet repeatedly denies it, constantly saying he would never love a woman like this? What’s the reason?”

”Double-talk generally falls into three categories: self-protection, consideration for others, or lingering doubts; women’s double-talk often aims to affirm a man’s intent or sincerity.”

Dong Yi happened to read that part and said it directly.

Qian froze.

Shi, who typically referred to himself as an ”idiot,” nodded to himself, ”So, if a woman says she’s not doing it for him, she actually is, like in those movies when the woman says ’no,’ it means ’yes’!”

Right after saying so, a cushion landed on his face. Shi Yu looked up bewildered to see study genius Qian standing calmly before him, ”Watching too many love motion pictures is bad, eat some fruit to cool down.”

As Qian turned to go wash her hands, Shi Yu wondered, ”Is Qian hot? Why does her face look a bit red?”

Qian washed her hands twice before getting some of the heat off her face, and she hadn’t even dried the water off when Shi Yu called her.

”Qian, the phone from home for you!”

It was Jia Xiufang calling, and as soon as Qian picked up, she heard Jia Xiufang crying.

”Qian’er, what do we do? Your brother called today saying he can’t handle it anymore; people there keep scolding him. Should we let him come back?”

Qian adjusted her glasses.

”Sure, let him come back.”

Jia Xiufang sighed with relief, just about to hang up when Qian’s next words made her choke up.
