Return of the Antagonistic Lady Boss

Chapter 117: Chapter 117: Someone Challenges the Club (Bonus for 600+ Monthly Tickets)

The supernatural girl Dong Yi isn’t close to anyone and has never been seen actively talking to others.

In dorm room 4444, not even the energetic livewire Shi Yu could warm up the atmosphere for Dong Yi.

On the first night when everyone was introducing themselves, she simply said, ”My name is Dong Yi,” and nothing more.

So, it wasn’t until a few days later that Qian realized she had gained a small shadow.

Yu Mingyi came and went in a hurry, and after he left, Dong Yi returned with red eyes and immediately asked Qian a question.

”The man who brought you here, what’s his relationship with the officer who came today?”

”Brothers.”

”What’s your relationship with the man who brought you here?”

Chen Xiaoqian wasn’t the type to answer questions just because they were asked.

Especially when it was a straightforward question without any small talk.

Coming straight to the point!

Are you that familiar with them?

But she still answered, because the person asking was Dong Yi.

Based on Qian’s observations over the past few days, Dong Yi’s behavior isn’t because she’s arrogant; there’s a more likely tendency towards reclusiveness.

Even when living in the same room, she refuses to communicate with others, which is fundamentally different from being introverted.

Perhaps it’s because of her occupational hazard as a doctor that Qian is more tolerant of people with psychological disorders.

”The man who brought me here is my boyfriend, though we’re still in the trial period.”

”Oh.”

Then, Qian gained an almost invisible sidekick.

In the cafeteria, Dong Yi silently stands beside her; back at the dorm, she silently follows Qian.

Thanks to Qian’s strong mental fortitude, or else having such a silent presence always behind her might have scared someone else.

Long after, Qian finally understood Dong Yi’s reasoning; generally, emotional bonds among people are of a few types: family ties, blood ties, geographical ties. Dong Yi was different—her emotional bond was singular: everyone around her benefactor was her core tie, deeply respecting everyone around her little uncle.

In any case, Qian inexplicably ended up with two followers.

”Qian, who’s that girl always glaring at you?”

Ever since Qian led everyone to defeat the Turtle Commander, Shi Yu’s reference to Qian upgraded from Qian girl to Qian.

Feeling that there’s a chubby girl in a pink dress always staring at you over there.

”Glaucoma plus myopia, she looks at everyone like that.” Qian was eating with Shi Yu and Dong Yi, following Shi Yu’s line of sight, it was Lin Xuanhua glaring at her.

Qian felt her face almost rivaled Yu Minglang’s tanned shade.

Even with mental preparation, after applying enough sunscreen, the tan was inevitable. The only good thing was unlike her past life, she managed to avoid peeling. But still, she wasn’t as fair as Lin Xuanhua.

Lin Xuanhua directed the Turtle Commander to create trouble for Qian, but didn’t expect Yu Minglang to be so impressive, directly dispatching his mystical ”glacial second brother” to help Qian avoid the catastrophe, snatching several choir positions from Xuanhua.

Originally, Lin Xuanhua planned to join the choir two days into the new training, but inexplicably, positions got filled. When Yu Mingyi left, he promised those positions to Qian’s group, filling all slots. Lin Xuanhua couldn’t get in and spent half a month in the scorching sun, filled with hatred whenever she looked at Qian.

”Qian, are you looking forward to the orientation performance?” The orientation would follow the new training, and Shi Yu was somewhat excited.

”Not interested.” Qian wasn’t interested in these kiddish activities and casually picked at her food.

The cafeteria food was really bad.

Thinking about having to eat this for several years made Qian uncomfortable, especially since she was clueless in the kitchen. In her past life, she mastered everything except cooking. Unlike other students who secretly cooked in their dorms, she was already worried about the meals for the coming years.

”I saw the notice board; each department has to put on a show, including freshmen. I wonder who from our Art College will be on stage. The girl with glaucoma who stares at you, I saw her heading to the student union this afternoon,” Shi Yu observed keenly.

Qian handed the shrimp from her plate to Shi Yu, ”You could consider being a paparazzo in the future; it suits you.”

The school was like a small world; nothing escaped the ears of gossip-lover Shi Xiaoyu.

Shi Yu came from a very low-key wealthy family. Qian conservatively estimated that, among the current freshmen, there wouldn’t be more than three with more wealth than Shi Touyu.

However, Shi Yu was low-key. When asked about her family business, she always replied, ”Fake medicine sellers.” She claimed that she went to college after the family sold their house. After the new training period, she wore clothes costing around a hundred bucks from Baleno and Jeanswest, and always sported sneakers, hiding her family’s wealth well.

If Qian didn’t know her past life’s details, she could have been fooled. Later, after graduation, their cohort learned about Shi Yu’s true family wealth and began asking her about the story behind selling the house for school. She, with all innocence, insisted it was true; her dad, aside from selling fake medicine, ventured into real estate that year. When she joined college, the family had just launched a new estate.

And then, she got chased and beaten, albeit jokingly, for ”beating the rich.”

”I’m just curious about her background. It’s unusual for a freshman to always be surrounded by a crowd, like stars surrounding the moon,” Shi Yu chewed on her chopsticks, eyeing the meat on Dong Yi’s plate.

Dong Yi paid no attention; she barely acknowledged Xiaoyu besides Chen Xiaoqian.

”If one day, she loses everything, how many friends will remain?” Qian thought of a song and casually remarked with a deep philosophical tone.

Fair-weather friends are of no use.

”What do you mean...” Shi Yu was puzzled.

”When the wall falls, everyone pushes. When the tree falls, the monkeys scatter.” Dong Yi, who had been silent, spoke.

Qian glanced at her; Dong Yi barely said three words a day, but whenever she spoke, it was always profound.

Dong Yi’s mental clarity was impressive. Her life was well understood. Unlike the traditionally reclusive personality with self-esteem and world-weariness, this type of character shouldn’t lead to suicide, so why did Dong Yi jump from the building a year later?

Solving this mystery was more intriguing for Qian than attending school. She, a female PhD, pretending to be a freshman was akin to a max-level warrior in top gear revisiting the novice village for nostalgia. The two roommates surrounding her were more interesting than professional courses.

Dong Yi was slightly unnerved by the inquisitive gaze from Qian, so she lowered her head and transferred all the meat from her plate to Qian’s, while Shi Yu’s gaze followed the movement of her chopsticks.

Just as Qian was about to shift the dish back to Shi Yu, someone spoke from the side.

”Chen Xiaoqian, remember to be on time for the orientation’s women’s group rehearsal at the third building tonight.”

Qian looked up; the glaucoma girl had come over.

”What women’s group rehearsal?” Shi Yu was still eyeing the meat on Qian’s plate.

”Didn’t you see the new notice on the board? Your dorm signed up for the orientation talent performance, and the final rehearsal is tonight. The stage is set for tomorrow.” Lin Xuanhua’s eyes were filled with childish malice.

She couldn’t believe this wouldn’t embarrass Chen Xiaoqian.
