Return of the Antagonistic Lady Boss

Chapter 115: Chapter 115: Whose Child Is It?

Wang Xiaohong couldn’t understand Yu Mingyi’s forbearance; to her, his constant tolerance for her seemed like weakness and incompetence.

”Your mother just looks down on me. Why can the eldest sister-in-law be an attending physician in the hospital, but she disagrees when my cousin wants to be a nurse?”

”The eldest sister-in-law has a seven-year medical master’s degree, which has nothing to do with mom. She got there entirely on her own merit. Your cousin doesn’t have the qualifications; the hospital can’t hire her.”

”Yu Mingyi, don’t give me that line! When I asked you to arrange a good job for my brother, you used the same excuse. Can’t you have a little ambition? Is it so hard to arrange something good for your own family? Look at your shameless brother—”

Hearing her talk about his brother, Yu Mingyi’s face immediately darkened. Wang Xiaohong noticed his displeasure and felt a bit scared, so she changed her tone, ”Look at Yu Minglang, how smoothly he handles things. Now the company is his, and you’re still making me drive a Santana! Your parents are so biased, saving all the good things for their youngest son! Why can’t I get a Toyota instead?”

Endless comparisons, endless arguments and suspicions. Looking back on his years of marriage, Yu Mingyi couldn’t think of a single happy moment. Yes, there was happiness—his child.

Thinking of his son sleeping in the next room, Yu Mingyi suppressed his anger and spoke with the last bit of patience.

”Laomao took over the company because of his own capabilities. Mom and Dad didn’t give him any assistance. The old man said, no one is allowed to buy Japanese cars.”

Mr. Yu is someone who doesn’t seem picky, but has very high standards. When the family wanted to buy him a car, he refused outright, claiming that only women and cars couldn’t be just settled for, and they must meet his standards. He even managed to buy a car with his own money through funds during school.

”That just means you’re incompetent! How come Yu Laomao can afford it, and you can’t buy me a car?”

”...Isn’t my salary managed by you?”

His salary is very high, with only a bit left for living expenses each month, and the rest all given to her. Over the years, he never questioned where the family’s money went, even though his wife continued to subsidize her family without a word from him.

Wang Xiaohong couldn’t answer Yu Mingyi’s question. Indeed, she subsidized her family every month but was unwilling to back down, and tears started falling down.

”When my brother died, he told you to take care of me, and this is how you treat me...”

Hearing her mention her brother, Yu Mingyi’s expression also changed.

When the instructor died, his only request was for him to marry his sister, Wang Xiaohong. Yu Mingyi was naturally detached about romantic relationships and felt it didn’t matter who he married, seeing marriage as a partnership between a man and a woman. To him, marrying anyone was the same.

And so, he married Wang Xiaohong. The family was against it at the time, but Yu Mingyi went against their wishes to marry her.

For no other reason than Wang Xiaohong’s brother, Wang Dazhi, was Yu Mingyi’s instructor, and Yu Mingyi always had extra patience and care for Wang Xiaohong.

”Everyone thinks I married well, but your family just looks glamorous and can’t help when needed. Even arranging a job, no one cares, you have power and money but won’t use them, look down on me and my family. Now, you see I’m getting older and less attractive, you’re being unclear with a female student outside.”

Wang Xiaohong became increasingly upset as she spoke, feeling terribly wronged. Her husband was like an ice block, completely unromantic, and her in-laws didn’t help her at all. Life was too hard.

”That student is a child I saved years ago, not what you think.”

”Do you think I’m stupid? A child you saved years ago, you lost contact for a long time and now she appears, haven’t you taken a liking to her?”

Yu Mingyi couldn’t imagine what was going on in her mind.

She always made simple things very complicated, constantly guessing wildly and out of thin air, and her thoughts were very scattered. In their arguments, the main point was one thing, but after her one-sided outburst, it expanded into everything.

From the beginning until now, she has disputed everything with him, with a central theme: he is the coldest and most heartless man in the world who doesn’t care about her, while she is a family-oriented woman.

Over the years, she had suspected every female nurse, female pilot around him, and even a nearly 40-year-old female shop assistant outside. Now she directed her doubts and suspicions at the girl he saved.

To such an incomprehensible woman with a bizarre train of thought, Yu Mingyi was now too tired to even explain.

He knew that if he opened his mouth, she would dig through their entire history, year by year, detailing what he had done to wrong her, remembering every detail, repeating it in every argument.

”You have disliked me since the first year we got married. I cooked onions, and you said you didn’t like them. I cried peeling onions, ran outside in the middle of the night, and you didn’t follow me after three minutes; you didn’t care whether I lived or died. I threw a tantrum and got off the car on the highway at night, and you didn’t follow me. You let me walk with a bunch of construction workers passing by...”

Thinking of these sad memories, Wang Xiaohong felt heart-wrenching pain, crying even more miserably.

She felt her husband was too outstanding and used his excellence to bully and ignore her, refusing to give her the princess-like care she wanted. Why could other wives be cared for, and she had to face an ice block?

”Next time, you can have your tantrum when I’m flying a plane and jump out when I open the cabin door.” Yu Mingyi said coldly.

He couldn’t understand why women would get mad for no reason. She made onions and asked if he liked them, he simply told the truth, and she got angry, slammed the door, and ran off, only coming back when he chased after her. Over the years, Wang Xiaohong ran off at every argument, regardless of time, place, or occasion—she would just turn and leave if things didn’t go her way.

At first, he had the patience to chase, but now he was too numb even to bother. Let her run; he’s become desensitized.

”Yu Mingyi, you’re not a human! You just want me dead, to find someone new, don’t you?” Wang Xiaohong screamed and drew her mother in.

The old lady pushed open the door, saw her daughter crying, and immediately yanked Wang Xiaohong behind her.

”Mingyi, you don’t come back home even once in a year, and when you do, you argue with Xiaohong. She has a little temper, but how has she wronged you? Raising someone else’s child for you, isn’t that enough? Can’t you just indulge her a bit?”

”I’m going to see Panpan.” Unwilling to get entangled with the two women, Yu Mingyi turned to the next room to see his son.

Turning away from the bickering mother and daughter, Yu Mingyi looked at his sleeping son, gently touching his little face with his finger. Coming home, the most comforting thing was to see this little guy.
