Return of the Antagonistic Lady Boss

Chapter 119: Chapter 119: Sister-in-Law Makes a Move

”I actually have two female saints hidden around me!”

Coming out of the cafeteria, Shi Yu still hadn’t recovered from the classic battle just now.

Whether it was Dong Yi tossing that plate of food or Qian’s impressive performance afterwards, Shi Yu savored the memory. It was simply too cool.

Dong Yi still had the same expression, and Qian was composed as ever, as if she wasn’t the one who just grabbed someone’s collar and told them to scram.

”Just with your performance, I could think about it for a week—wait, Qian, you scared people off, but what about the show?” Shi Yu finally remembered the main issue.

If they don’t clear things up today, they might dodge it during tonight’s rehearsal, but tomorrow when they announce on stage, it’s not good at all if they pretend not to exist and don’t go up. How would they get through the next four years?

”Qian, since we’re freshmen, let’s crash the student council and ask them to take us off the list?”

”Each college’s student council already submitted it a long time ago. Even if you go to the school student council now, it’s too late.” Qian was familiar with this process.

In her previous life, she had been a student council manager for 2 years at this school.

She’s lazy about playing house with kids in this life.

She didn’t plan to join the student council again. On campus, the student council seemed impressive, but once you step into society, it really doesn’t count for much, at best it’s just a bit of life experience. She already had that experience in her past life, which was enough; she’s not planning to take on more this time around.

”So, someone had their eye on us and submitted us ahead of time?” Shi Yu understood.

This seemed like a big deal to her and made her angry, but looking at her two roommates—one with a blank face pretending to be air, the other calm like she’s coaxing kids to play house—Shi Yu was conflicted.

”Why not, we do a children’s song mudfish trio?”

BD Normal University isn’t too big or too small, with tens of thousands of people. There are plenty of talents who sing and dance, making it virtually impossible not to be embarrassed in this situation.

”It shows how incompetent the student council is.” Such a blunder shouldn’t happen. All it takes is smoothing out a few relationships to cause a mess, but when Qian was president, this never occurred.

”My dear Qian! How can you be so indifferent, the emergency is upon us, and you’re still looking at things from a god’s-eye view?”

Shi Yu felt that Qian seemed like a school leader in student disguise coming down to understand student matters, always looking at things from a big perspective.

”Alright, how big of a problem can it be? It’s just a program. We’ll just go back and come up with something. I’ll help you turn this situation around. If they dare make us look bad, I’ll make them look bad first.”

In Qian’s mind, as a super female boss playing house with a bunch of kids, it wasn’t very interesting. Usually, she turned a blind eye.

But this time was different; someone was eyeing Yu Minglang. If she didn’t straighten this out, she might as well change her name to ’Useless Xiaoqian’ instead of continuing to be Qian.

She couldn’t allow anyone to snore under her bed. If someone was eyeing her trial boyfriend, she had to do something about it.

”You sound so relaxed. So, what’s the plan? Just the few of us?”

”Why don’t we perform eating watermelon? I can eat three pieces of watermelon in a minute; it’s been years since I performed this trick, or we could do a pantomime...”

Shi Yu talked to herself, but no one paid her any attention.

Qian turned to Dong Yi and asked, ”Do you have a special language?”

”Mm-hmm.”

”Do you know this folk song melody?” Qian hummed a few lines.

”...” Dong Yi always responded this way to most questions.

”Second brother might not want you and me to lose face in front of so many people.”

”I can sing.”

Shi Yu’s mouth dropped open in surprise, ”My god, are you guys having a conversation?”

A miracle—someone could actually communicate with Dong Yi! It seemed Qian had the upper hand all along.

”Discovering someone’s inner code makes everything easier. That’s efficiency; take note.” Qian knocked Shi Yu’s head.

Dong Yi suddenly had a bad feeling that Chen Xiaoqian might use her little uncle to control her.

The reason a boss becomes a boss is because they use all sorts of means to find the inner code of each person they find useful and make use of it. Another way to put it: recruit useful underlings.

”Contact a band, those four-member bands who perform live outside shopping malls. Offer them 200 bucks a day for event costs and ask them if they’ll come; I’ll cover the cost.” Qian pointed at Shi Yu.

”Money is no problem. I’ll just get a few guys from my dad’s place. We can buy some water and invite them for drinks—that’s easy enough. What’s your plan?” Shi Yu almost blurted out, her dad manages plenty of people, including ones for live events, so finding a four-member band isn’t hard.

”Girl, work more, ask why less. Qian is teaching you workplace rules, got it? Hurry up, find someone.”

Qian sent Shi Yu off on the task, while she herself pulled an obviously reluctant Dong Yi to go shopping.

Knowing what kind of person can do what is something all bosses must understand. Dealing with different people requires different methods.

Shi Yu made her way to a secluded spot, looked around ensuring no one was there, then took her phone out of her pocket, first completing the task of finding the band as boss instructed. Then her eyes lit up as she calculated; her brother Qiao Zhen was probably on duty.

Dialing the phone, sure enough.

”What’s up again? Recruit training is over; there are no devil coaches to torture you anymore, right?” Qiao Zhen’s voice sounded tired.

”Bro, what’s up with you? Are you kidney-depleted?”

”Get lost! Who knows what’s wrong with the little boss lately, working us to death; we’re all tired... anyway, what is it?”

”I finally figured out why heaven arranged for me to room with Qian. Bro, I’m your undercover agent saving you from trouble; Qian has something planned. Quickly report this to your little boss, and tonight you can sleep soundly. I’m serious, be nicer to me later on. Any firsthand info on Qian, I’ll tell you. Make sure you’re the favorite in your boss’s eyes!”

”You’re the favorite!” Qiao Zhen laughed, ”So what is the sister-in-law up to...”

Seems the little boss couldn’t find time to visit Qian lately. Qian wouldn’t call him or write emails, so the little boss’s face got darker each day.

Yu Minglang told Qian she’d have to write letters and call him weekly; Qian didn’t do either. Not only did she not reply to his letters, but when he called, she’d either say a few words before hanging up or say someone was waiting to use the phone.

All in all, Yu Minglang had a belly full of anger, and now nobody at work dared to disturb him, all avoiding him entirely.

Qiao Zhen listened to Shi Yu saying sister-in-law was stirring things up and had a vague hunch that this was an opportunity to cheer up the gloomy little boss.
