Return of the Antagonistic Lady Boss

Chapter 137: Chapter 137: Headache Sensation (1,000+ Monthly Ticket Update)

What to wear on the first visit to your boyfriend’s home is a real issue.

If Yu Minglang’s family were nouveau riche, dressing stylishly but seeking low-key sophistication would prevent them from looking down on you. If they were poor, dressing casually would be fine to avoid pressuring the family. Yu Minglang’s family is more complicated; they have been affluent for generations. Dressing too pretentiously won’t work, nor will dressing too plainly.

Even though Yu Minglang keeps emphasizing that she looks just fine, Qian trusts him as much as she’d trust a ghost. A bad first impression, no matter how much effort is made afterward, won’t help.

He took her to the city’s mall to find a mid-sized brand for outfit matching.

While she tried on clothes, Yu Minglang sat in the boutique store, wearing a typical bored shopping face. When Qian asked which outfit looked nice, he nodded; to him, it was all about the same. Most men are like this.

Seeing his expression of suffering, she didn’t force it and decided on her own.

She finally chose a green knitted cardigan paired with a white top and black trousers. It was both intellectual and ladylike, not overly youthful yet reeked of cultured charm. The buttons were pearls, with details well-executed, enhancing Qian’s intellectual aura without being too mature or staid.

If she’d paired it with a tight skirt and black tights, it would have been a different style.

Qian concluded that reportedly, his father was a very proper man, so he certainly wouldn’t favor wearing skirts in this season; choosing something proper was better.

Qian changed into her outfit and asked him.

”How is it?”

Yu Minglang’s eyes lit up, and he turned to ask the sales clerk.

”Do you have a men’s version in similar colors?”

”Yes, sir, please this way.”

Qian rolled her eyes; was he trying to wear a couple’s outfit with her?

Dating a man in his twenties versus his thirties is definitely different, even if they are the same person.

In his last life, Yu Minglang never flaunted his love so constantly; he was still young.

When Yu Minglang emerged in a green shirt and black trousers, his long legs made the outfit look especially stylish.

”Stay still.” Qian squatted down to tuck his trousers inside his ankle boots. Yu Minglang watched her squatting to arrange his trousers, feeling a sense he couldn’t quite express.

Actually, his girl was rather considerate.

Qian stood up, stepped back two paces, glanced around, and nodded.

”Ring it up.”

Yu Minglang particularly loved wearing tactical boots; as long as it wasn’t a formal occasion, he’d wear black, desert-colored ones, high-tops in winter, low-tops in spring, summer, fall. His long legs paired with skinny pants looked very cool.

She seriously suspected this guy was the type of eccentric who bought several pairs of identical color and style shoes just to rotate them. Judging by the cleanliness of his shoes, owning only one pair would not be so spotless.

The two of them walked together in matching outfits, looking perfectly paired; he tall and she petite. Even the sales clerks complimented them, saying they looked better than models.

As they left, Yu Minglang cursed.

”This stupid pair of pants, I’ll wear it only once; won’t wear it again.”

Qian looked at him, puzzled, ”Why?”

He still looked quite handsome, a real catch.

”...I won’t tell you.” These tight-fitting pants have no stretch, the fabric is thick and stiff, slightly compressing underneath...

Asian fit, the key area is really tight, while it might be fine for others, it’s truly uncomfortable on Yu Minglang.

Risking his discomfort to wear couple’s clothing with his girlfriend, he really went all out.

Qian looked at him quizzically; with the hand not on the steering wheel, he held her hand. Wearing matching outfits felt great, so his discomfort could be temporarily ignored.

”Sing a song for me like the one you shouted at school before.”

”I have a little donkey I never ride~”

”Be serious!”

”One day I felt like riding it to the market~”

”...” Yu Minglang gloomily watched her; Qian made a gesture as if holding a whip and pretended to lash the driving ”little donkey.”

Yu Minglang gritted his teeth, thinking, ”when you’re older, I’ll let you ’ride’ all you want!”

His parents live in the city’s finest district, with a five-story house. There are guards at the gate; entry and exit require passes. Neighbors greet each other, all respected figures in the city.

Yu Minglang’s parents live close to Yu Minglang’s own place, within a few minutes’ walk. After buying clothes, Yu Minglang parked the car in the lot, then strolled through the community, holding her hand visibly flauntfully.

Yu Minglang carrying a fruit basket in one hand and holding Qian’s hand in the other, deliberately took a long route from the parking lot toward his home, feeling numerous stares targeting them. Upon seeing someone he knew, Yu Minglang stopped to greet them.

”Mr. Wang, taking a bird stroll?”

”You’re back, young man. Who’s this girl?”

”My girlfriend, Qian. Say hello to Mr. Wang!”

”Hello, Mr. Wang!”

The above exchange repeated at least ten times in a few minutes, just with different names.

While keeping a polite smile, Qian quietly asked Yu Minglang.

”Does your neighborhood not allow cars to drive to the buildings?”

She felt like she was tricked by this jerk.

”Of course, see, all the uncles and elders are quite old; driving inside isn’t good for the air.”

As if debunking his words, a Jeep sped by.

Qian looked at him and he was still making excuses.

”Probably something urgent, doesn’t count.”

Just after he finished speaking, within two minutes, a car horn shrieked behind them, Yu Minglang turned around to see a civilian-plated Cadillac honking.

The driver leaned out and said, ”Youngest, where’s your car?”

Qian looked at the driver: around forty, slightly resembling Yu Minglang but much heavier and shorter, grinning like a pudgy Buddha.

”Brother, why expose me? I’m trying to show my girlfriend around.”

Seeing things had reached this stage, Yu Minglang simply admitted, holding Qian’s hand, ”This is our big brother; the passenger is sister-in-law whom you’ve met.”

”Hello, brother and sister-in-law!” Qian greeted them, smilingly pinching Yu Minglang’s waist.

Sister-in-law was the doctor who treated Qian’s mom before, not wearing her lab coat today, her glittering eyes fixating on Qian and Yu Minglang holding hands, smiling even more warmly.

”Get in, we’ll take you home together.”

”No need, I’m showing Qian around, getting familiar with the area.”

Big brother stepped on the gas and drove off.

As they left, words drifted from the car window.

”Our home’s just behind the parking lot; youngest strolling all around, aren’t you tired...”
