The Lovely Heiress Is Actually A God Beast

Chapter 376: Chapter 376: One Runs, One Chases Chapter 376: Chapter 376: One Runs, One Chases Little Taotie was strong and could easily pluck the fruits one by one, deftly throwing them directly into the basket.

Gu Yixing was on full “protection duty” and hadn’t picked a single tangerine, but the basket had already been filled.

Little Taotie jumped straight down from the tree, which scared Gu Yixing into a cold sweat.

Seeing her come down and now that it was safe, Gu Yixing couldn’t hold back his temper and scolded loudly, “What’s the matter with you! So disobedient, I told you to come down, and you wouldn’t listen!”

Little Taotie was startled, staring blankly at him.

After leaving the village, no one had ever been so fierce with her.

Little Taotie paused for three seconds then turned and ran away.

Gu Yixing: “…”

“Why are you running!” he chased after her, forgetting all about the tangerines.

Little Taotie was running purely out of instinct; whenever Zhang Cuilian had yelled in the past, violence would follow just a second later.

Initially, if Gu Yixing hadn’t chased her, Little Taotie might have stopped after a few steps, but when Gu Yixing suddenly caught up, she sped up and ran faster, her short legs moving quickly.

Gu Yixing: “…”

Tired!

Gave up!

Gu Yixing didn’t care about his image anymore and sat down on the ground, no longer chasing her.

Little Taotie ran a bit more, then looked back and saw Gu Yixing sitting on the ground, not pursuing anymore, so she too stopped.

She maintained her distance, not daring to approach, and sneaked glances at him.

Gu Yixing called out annoyedly, “Why did you run?”

Little Taotie replied without much confidence, “You were chasing.”

Gu Yixing: “… Fine, I’m not chasing now.”

Little Taotie responded, “Then I’m not running either.”

The young man filming behind them almost laughed out loud, his camera shook as he was holding back laughter.

He could guarantee that this scene would make the audience laugh as well; who would have thought that even a top star like Gu Yixing could have such a silly moment!

Gu Yixing gestured for Little Taotie to come over.

Little Taotie hesitantly took small steps and asked, “Are you still going to be cross with me?”

“Would I dare to be cross with you?” Gu Yixing asked wearily.

Every time he scolded her, she would run, and she could really run; who would dare to be cross with her? Chasing her halfway down the mountain had exhausted him!

“Brother Xingxing, I’m really good at climbing trees…” Little Taotie’s voice grew quieter under his gaze, whispering, “I know you were worried about me, but I also wanted to help pick the tangerines! Oh, where are the tangerines?” Suddenly remembering, she looked around.

Gu Yixing sighed, “They’re under the tangerine tree, I didn’t pick them up.”

Little Taotie ran again.

Gu Yixing: “…”

Tired, but still had to chase.

Pushing himself up, Gu Yixing resignedly followed her.

Little Taotie returned to the tangerine grove; she had run all over the village before, and even in a different village, she knew her way around. She quickly found the tangerine tree and saw the bamboo basket.

The bamboo basket filled with tangerines was quite heavy, but Little Taotie, being strong, still managed to carry it on her back.

Gu Yixing almost took the wrong path and didn’t find the tangerine tree but spotted Little Taotie approaching from a distance.

The little girl carried a big basket filled with bright tangerine-colored fruits.

Gu Yixing held his forehead and quickly went over to unload the basket, “Can’t you be a bit more self-aware as a child! Let me handle this kind of thing!”

Little Taotie giggled.

Gu Yixing carried the bamboo basket, feeling the weight on his back. It was a good thing he usually maintained his physique by lifting weights; otherwise, it would have been embarrassing, a grown man outdone by a child; that would have been awkward.

He took Little Taotie’s hand and sighed, “Let’s go back.”

Little Taotie nodded, obediently letting him lead her away.

Gu Yixing asked softly, “Did you always climb trees to pick fruit to eat before?”

“Yes, when grandfather wasn’t home, I would go out and climb trees to pick fruit to eat. The fruits were very sour and sometimes bitter.” She stuck out her little tongue as if recalling the not-so-pleasant taste, her little face scrunching up, “It’s so sour, it makes you hungrier the more you eat!”
