Chapter 202: Chapter 202: Now I Want to Eat

“Your nose must be playing tricks on you—do you want milk tea so badly that you’re hallucinating? How could there possibly be the smell of milk tea here!”

“Don’t deny it, I clearly smelled it! Search for it, I want to see your drawer, you must have hidden milk tea! What’s that behind you, move aside!”

“Stop it, there’s nothing! Don’t tickle me!”

The director was defeated, collapsed on the ground in despair, his will to live all but gone.

The assistant director, having seen Little Taotie and Hua Jinyan, didn’t bother with the director but transformed into a gentle big sister, squatting down and speaking in a voice as gentle as water, “Little Taotie, are you hungry? Milk tea won’t fill you up. How about sister takes you for some snacks? I’ve made some baked cookies and sachima myself, I hope you’ll like them!”

The director, who had been playing dead on the floor, perked up his ears, sprang up like a carp leaping out of water, and wanted to tag along too.

The assistant director gave a sideways glare: “You’re on a diet!”

Director: “…”

As the director watched them leave with tears in his eyes, he grumbled to himself, “When looking for a girlfriend, it’s all about finding a beautiful one, so you can have a beautiful daughter like Little Taotie. It doesn’t matter if she’s a good cook, smart, or easy to talk to!”

“Yeah! None of that matters!” he clenched his fists hard, huffing, “I’m going to pursue beautiful girls, hmph!”

…

Little Taotie’s hand was gently held by the kind assistant director sister, while Hua Jinyan was left trailing behind, silently following them.

The assistant director’s lounge was a haven of pink, with scented candles burning and a fragrance of white peach oolong filling the room.

Little Taotie felt hungrier the more she smelled it.

She had already finished her Evil Spirit Chocolate, and without it, her appetite had become alarmingly voracious—as if she could never eat her fill.

The assistant director took out several containers, opening them one by one.

Inside were little cookies with cute animal designs, small egg rolls with cream squeezed inside that were the length of fingers, snowflake pastries covered with nuts and raisins, and plain-flavored sachima without marshmallows…

Little Taotie licked her lips, feeling a bit greedy.

She didn’t reach out to take any but sat obediently to the side, her big eyes brimming with expectation as she watched the assistant director sister, as if at a single command, she could swiftly devour all the delicious food on the table!

“Stop looking at me, eat up!”

“Is this really all for me?”

“Go ahead, eat. If you like it, I’ll make some more for you!”

“Thank you, sister!”

Before eating, Little Taotie obediently put on a pair of disposable gloves—a nagging reminder from her second brother to wash hands before eating and to wear gloves if there was no place to wash, lest little bugs should grow in her stomach. Little Bug ate a lot, and if he polished off the goodies, he would become Map. She was scared to even imagine little bugs inside her stomach, let alone the thought of those bugs turning into Map.

“Are you eating?” the assistant director turned her head to ask Hua Jinyan, her voice no longer tender but carrying a flat calmness, like when she was handling official business.

Hua Jinyan: “…”

He didn’t want to eat at first, but now he did.

Hua Jinyan asked Little Taotie for a pair of disposable gloves. Her pockets were stuffed with neatly packaged individual pairs, and she generously gave him one, patting her pocket, “If you run out, ask me for more!”

Hua Jinyan nodded with a smile forming at the corner of his mouth.

Putting on the gloves, he picked up a piece of snowflake pastry, took a small bite, set it down, and gave a serious critique, “Too sweet, sticky, the raisins are sour and hard…”
