Medical and Martial God

Chapter 298: Chapter 298: Long Illness Turns to Demon

In reality, Xia Zhiwei and Xia Dehe had no idea that Ye Xiu was warmly shaking hands and exchanging pleasantries with every member of the Heavenly Dragon Sect present only to confirm if any of Han Jie’s accomplices were among them.

It was an easy thing to confirm. If someone were an accomplice of Han Jie, then no matter how indifferent they pretended to be in front of me, and no matter how good their acting was, their heart would still be in turmoil. And such an internal reaction can be detected in their pulse. That was the principle behind using pulse-taking as a lie detector.

”Sect Leader Xia, is everyone from the Heavenly Dragon Sect here?” Ye Xiu asked after making his rounds. He was now certain that none of Han Jie’s accomplices were present.

However, he did not see Shen Tianfang.

”Xia Xue and Tianfang aren’t here,” Xia Dehe said.

”That’s right, where did my sister go?” Xia Zhiwei only just realized that Xia Xue was absent.

”I’m right here!”

With a dark expression, Xia Xue was pushed over in her wheelchair by An Dongye. Her sudden appearance stunned Xia Zhiwei, Xia Dehe, and all the other members of the Heavenly Dragon Sect.

Xia Dehe asked, ”Xia Xue, how did you get out of Divine Doctor Ye’s car?”

”Ask him,” Xia Xue replied, positioning herself as if ready for Ye Xiu to expose her. She had already mentally prepared herself to be ostracized and berated by her family.

Seeing that Xia Zhiwei, Xia Dehe, and everyone from the Heavenly Dragon Sect were looking at him, Ye Xiu sighed and explained, ”On my way here, I saw her on the Shui Tian Lake Bridge, practicing her crawling. Don’t be fooled by her legs. She’s incredibly fast with just her hands. I thought she was some kind of genetically modified turtle that had crawled out of the lake, so I grabbed her and put her in my car...”

Xia Xue: ”???”

PFFT!

Is this Ye Xiu’s idea of revenge? Xia Xue had assumed Ye Xiu would expose her actions, never imagining he would humiliate her like this. This is unbelievable!

”Xia Xue, you truly are my granddaughter! If your legs don’t work, then use your hands! One must never bow down to fate,” Xia Dehe encouraged earnestly.

Xia Xue: ”...”

”Sister, I support you practicing how to walk on your hands,” Xia Zhiwei chimed in.

Xia Xue: ”...”

The members of the Heavenly Dragon Sect all came over one by one to offer their encouragement.

Xia Xue was on the verge of a complete breakdown. Out of all these people, did not a single one realize Ye Xiu was mocking me?

”Sect Leader Xia, I’ve examined Xia Xue’s condition, and I can treat her legs,” Ye Xiu said.

Xia Xue became anxious at his words. When did you examine me? Don’t spout such nonsense! If Shen Tianfang hears this, he’ll get the wrong idea.

But when Xia Dehe, Xia Zhiwei, and the people from the Heavenly Dragon Sect heard that Ye Xiu could heal Xia Xue, they all grew ecstatic.

”Divine Doctor Ye, are... are you telling the truth?” Xia Dehe asked, his voice trembling with excitement.

”Ye Xiu, I know you’re the Medicine King Xuanse and that your medical skills are renowned. But after my sister’s legs inexplicably lost all feeling, our grandparents and parents took her to countless famous doctors. None of them could heal her. Are you really sure you can?” Xia Zhiwei asked, her voice filled with doubt. After all, the world was full of fakes. For all she knew, Ye Xiu’s title of Medicine King Xuanse was just the product of a professional marketing team.

”Zhiwei, how can you speak to Divine Doctor Ye like that?” Xia Dehe chided her. ”Divine Doctor Ye is nationally recognized as the number one divine doctor. He isn’t one to brag. Since he said he can heal Xia Xue, he must have some confidence.”

In truth, he didn’t quite believe Ye Xiu could heal Xia Xue’s legs either. It wasn’t that he doubted Ye Xiu’s medical skills; it was just that he had despaired after taking Xia Xue to see so many specialists over the past three years.

”How about this? I’ll cure Xia Xue first, and then we’ll talk,” Ye Xiu said to Xia Dehe. ”Sect Leader Xia, please prepare a clean room. I must not be disturbed.”

Xia Xue grew frantic. ”Grandpa, I don’t want him to treat me! I... I like being in a wheelchair. I think it’s just fine...”

Nobody paid her any attention.

”Divine Doctor Ye, we’ll have to trouble you, then. Please, follow me.” Xia Dehe was in no mood for pleasantries; getting Xia Xue treated was his top priority.

”Of course.” Ye Xiu nodded and walked into the village alongside Xia Dehe.

An Dongye pushed Xia Xue’s wheelchair, following behind them. Xia Zhiwei and a large crowd of villagers trailed after, buzzing with excitement.

Xia Xue screamed and protested the entire way, but no one paid her any mind, as if they had all grown accustomed to her neuroses.

Soon, they arrived at the home of Xia Xue and Shen Tianfang.

Ye Xiu pushed Xia Xue inside, leaving everyone else in the yard.

”Ye Xiu, what... what are you going to do to me?” Xia Xue asked, growing nervous now that they were alone.

”Heh heh, take a guess!” Ye Xiu said with a sleazy laugh, deliberately trying to scare her.

With her back to him, Xia Xue couldn’t see his lecherous expression, but she could hear the depravity in his voice, and it terrified her. She began to scream desperately.

”Help! Help me...!”

”Grandpa! Mom, Dad! Little sister, help me...!”

”Help...!”

No one came.

Outside, An Dongye and the members of the Heavenly Dragon Sect didn’t believe a word she said. The Heavenly Dragon Sect members, in particular, knew her all too well. Since she was crippled three years ago, Xia Xue’s entire personality had changed. She had become prone to faint, unsettling smiles and was as gloomy as a ghost, often muttering nonsense. The village children would burst into tears if they saw her from a distance.

A prolonged illness can turn one into a demon. This saying fit Xia Xue perfectly.

”Stop shouting. No one will come to save you, even if you scream your throat raw.” Pushing her into the bedroom, Ye Xiu unceremoniously lifted her and threw her onto the bed.

”Don’t... don’t come over here! Ye Xiu, stay away!” Watching Ye Xiu approach with that lewd grin, Xia Xue yelled in a panic, ”I was wrong! I shouldn’t have helped the Shen Family deal with you! Just kill me, please don’t do *that* to me! I’m begging you! If Shen Tianfang finds out I was unfaithful to him, he’ll despise me! He’ll divorce me...”

A good woman falling for a scumbag—how true that saying was. To think that trash like Shen Tianfang was worthy of such devotion from Xia Xue. He must have had quite the way with women.

”Don’t you dare insult my husband!” Xia Xue snapped.

”Fine, fine. I won’t insult him. I’ll just insult you.”

At this, the hairs on Xia Xue’s body stood on end. Just as she was about to scream again, Ye Xiu jabbed a sleep-inducing pressure point on her body.

The bedroom fell silent.

Ye Xiu took her hand to check her pulse and gasped, ”Her legs... they were paralyzed by poison...”

「Outside!」

”Hey, what are you doing squatting over there?” Xia Zhiwei asked curiously, having spotted An Dongye crouched in a corner of the courtyard.

”Just a personal hobby, don’t mind me,” An Dongye said with a chuckle. Unaware that Leng Yue had already captured the sniper, she was afraid of standing in the open and getting her head shot off. Her current squatting position was, in contrast, quite safe.
