Medical and Martial God

Chapter 284: Chapter 284: The Xiong Family and the Shen Family Sever Ties

Ye Xiu’s face darkened. ”I’m not boasting. Believe me, by dinnertime, those consortia will release the news.”

”It seems your ten years abroad garnered you quite a network,” Bao Longtu said, now believing him. ”If it’s as you say, countless people in the national business community will flock to us, scrambling to cooperate.”

”For now, we’re only recruiting partners from the Qi Yun Dao business community,” Ye Xiu stated.

Bao Longtu instantly understood his intention. ”To squeeze out the Shen Family?”

”Exactly!” Ye Xiu didn’t hide it. ”First, release the news. Don’t say much else.”

”Alright, I’ll take care of it,” Bao Longtu said.

After hanging up, Ye Xiu laughed.

First, he would release the news that the Shen Family was one of the culprits who framed him ten years ago. This would ensure their business allies, acquired through marriage, wouldn’t dare to openly help them. Next, he would announce his entry into the medical field. The Shen Family’s allies would definitely grow restless. To get a piece of that lucrative pie, they might even sever their alliance with the Shens.

After all, in the business world, alliances are built on nothing but profit!

Shen Songshan and Shen Qilin went to the hospital, dragged Shen Cong’an out of the operating room, and brought him to the Xiong Family residence.

Originally, Shen Qilin had wanted to take Shen Cong’an to the Xiong Family to apologize alone, but Shen Songshan was worried.

The Xiong Family was crucial to the Shen Family. After the battle with the Lian Family and the massacre by Ye Xiu and Ming Yue at the Hongtai Non-Woven Fabric Factory, the Shen Family’s strength had been decimated. They were left with only Shen Songshan and Shen Qilin, two experts who surpassed the War God realm; Shen Shihao, a War God who now lay castrated in the hospital; and a few illegitimate offspring sent to train with Ancient Martial Families or Sects since childhood. As for their allies from other Ancient Martial Families and Sects, they had suffered heavy casualties. Of their allied War Gods, only the two from the Xiong Family remained.

If the Xiong Family turned against them over Xiong Wei’s matter, it would be difficult for the Shen Family to dominate the Qi Yun Dao Ancient Martial Circle.

”No matter what harsh words Xiong Ba and Xiong Shan say later, you are not to talk back,” Shen Songshan cautioned.

”Don’t worry,” said Shen Qilin, carrying Shen Cong’an. ”Since we are here to apologize, we must look the part.”

At that moment, a funeral was being held at the Xiong Family estate. They had lost many people in the battle against the Lian Family, and on top of that, the third brother of the family, Xiong Feng, had been cleaved in two by Ye Xiu’s Dragon Sparrow Sword. An air of sorrow enveloped the entire household.

”Shen Songshan, Shen Qilin, you two still have the nerve to show your faces!” Xiong Shan roared upon seeing them.

Xiong Ba and the other members of the Xiong Family glared furiously at Shen Qilin and the unconscious Shen Cong’an. The guests who had come to pay their respects, however, wore amused expressions, as they had all heard about what happened to Xiong Wei.

”Elder Xiong, I am truly sorry about what happened to Wei. It’s all this bastard Shen Cong’an’s fault.” Shen Qilin forced himself to apologize, tossing the unconscious Shen Cong’an at Xiong Ba’s feet. ”I’ve brought the scoundrel here. Kill him or flay him, it’s at your discretion.”

”Ridiculous! Absolutely ridiculous!” Xiong Shan spat, his face twisted with rage. ”Your Shen Family is large and prosperous. You, Shen Qilin, have a whole brood of grandchildren. But I, Xiong Shan, had only one son and one grandson! Is the life of a worthless brat like Shen Cong’an supposed to compensate for my grandson Wei’s legs?

”For so many years, my Xiong Family has followed the Shen Family’s every command, clearing every obstacle in your path. We’ve lost so many people for your sake—even my own son died in battle!”

The more Xiong Shan spoke, the angrier he became, his murderous aura nearly boiling over.

He gritted his teeth and continued, ”How has your Shen Family treated us in return? Shen Cong’an played my family for fools! He used my grandson, Wei, to deal with Ye Xiu’s wife, Qin Qing. Now my son is dead, and my grandson is a cripple!

”Now the two of you bring Shen Cong’an here for me to deal with? What, you think the life of that piece of trash is worth my grandson’s legs? I think you’re here to mock and humiliate the Xiong Family!”

Hearing this, Shen Songshan’s and Shen Qilin’s hearts sank. The Xiong Family’s rage was even more intense than they had imagined. They had skipped any pleasantries and gone straight to cursing.

Shen Qilin said, ”The mistake has been made and can’t be undone. How about this: name your price, and I won’t bargain.”

”What fucking bullshit!” Xiong Shan roared. ”Don’t you dare insult my Xiong Family with your filthy money! No amount of money can bring back my son’s life or my grandson’s legs!”

Shen Songshan and Shen Qilin stood silently as they were viciously berated.

Just then, Xiong Ba spoke coldly, ”Shen Songshan, Shen Qilin, you two should leave. Considering the Shen Family has supported the Xiong Family for many years, I will not hold you responsible for what happened to Xiong Wei. However, the Xiong Family has lost too many people for your sake, so consider our debt of gratitude repaid. From this day forward, the Xiong Family and the Shen Family will sever all ties and go our separate ways.”

Shen Songshan and Shen Qilin grew anxious. The Xiong Family was really cutting them off!

Shen Songshan said, ”Brother Xiong, please calm down and listen to me. Although Shen Cong’an was at fault in the matter with Xiong Wei, the one who actually cut off his legs was Qin Qing. Furthermore, Ye Xiu killed Xiong Feng. We should direct this hatred toward Ye Xiu. We should join forces to kill him and get revenge for Xiong Feng and Xiong Wei.”

Shen Songshan no longer hoped for reconciliation. He just wanted to redirect the Xiong Family’s fury toward Ye Xiu.

This way, it might be better for the Xiong Family to sever ties with them. If the Xiong Family kills Ye Xiu, it will have nothing to do with the Shens!

”The Xiong Family will seek its own revenge on Ye Xiu for Xiong Feng and Xiong Wei. The Shen Family need not concern itself,” Xiong Ba said expressionlessly. ”Show our guests out!”

He had issued a direct order to expel them.

Hearing this, Shen Songshan felt a sense of relief. ”In that case, Qilin and I will not impose any longer. However, the incident with Xiong Wei was ultimately Shen Cong’an’s fault. Today, I will kill him before the Xiong Family as an offering to your departed kin.”

Saying this, he produced a dagger and plunged it into Shen Cong’an’s heart right in front of the Xiong Family. Then, he and Shen Qilin departed.

Looking at Shen Cong’an’s corpse, the Xiong Family members gasped.

”Shen Songshan is ruthless. He’d even kill his own family,” Xiong Wu said coldly.

”It is precisely because he’s so ruthless that he, like Shen Cong’an, has always treated our family as pawns, never with any real respect,” Xiong Ba declared, his eyes narrowed.

”Let’s put the matter of the Shen Family aside for now!” Xiong Shan said through gritted teeth. ”Big Brother, we must avenge our third brother and Wei.”

”Revenge is a certainty,” Xiong Ba replied. ”But Ye Xiu is a War God. Only the two of us together stand a chance of killing him. For now, have someone find out where Ye Xiu is staying. We can make our move after that.”

”I’ll investigate myself,” Xiong Shan said, then hurriedly left.
