Medical and Martial God

Chapter 253: Chapter 253: A Once-In-A-Century Genius

”Oh?”

Shen Songshan, Shen Qilin, and all the members of the Shen Family present turned to look.

They saw Ye Xiu approaching the building, holding Shen Monong’s hand with his left and a blade in his right. He cut down anyone who blocked his path or foolishly sought death with a single stroke. He carved a path through the crowd as if they weren’t even there.

”Such terrifying Swordsmanship,” Shen Songshan exclaimed in shock.

”Terrifying? He’s just hacking wildly without any real technique. Besides, he’s only killing Martial Artists below the rank of Great Grandmaster,” Shen Shihao said dismissively.

”You don’t know a damn thing!” Shen Songshan scolded without reservation. ”In my view, when it comes to the art of the blade, Huang Quan is first, Sword God is second, and this man is third. Look, he takes down one person with a single strike, never needing a second. Each slash seems unremarkable, yet it’s instantly fatal. This is Swordsmanship cultivated to the state of Returning to the Basics, where complexity is reduced to simplicity. A genius like this comes along only once a century.”

Hearing Shen Songshan’s evaluation of Ye Xiu, all the Shen Family members were completely shocked. Shen Songshan was famous for his high standards and rarely praised anyone, yet he gave Ye Xiu such a lofty assessment.

Shen Shihao felt a pang of jealousy. He had reached the level of a War God in his early forties, yet Shen Songshan had never once praised him. Now, he was lavishing praise on an outsider.

A delighted grin spread across Shen Shijie’s face. He quickly said, ”Grandfather, that young man is quite fond of Monong. Since her engagement to Lian Zhengrong is off, why not betroth her to him?”

Hearing this, Shen Shihao grew anxious. ”Grandfather, my daughter Wanqiu is still unmarried. Why not betroth her to him instead?”

The other unmarried daughters, most born of mistresses, crowded around to volunteer themselves.

”Great-grandfather, he’s so handsome! He’s just my type.”

”Have you looked in a mirror? He and I are the perfect match, don’t you think, Great-Grandfather?”

”Great-Grandfather, it’s me, Minmin! You know I’m the most obedient...”

These daughters were well aware that they were merely tools for the Shen Family’s marriage alliances. Once they married into a powerful family, they would lose their freedom. However, if they married this genius, given how highly Shen Songshan regarded him, their own status within the Shen Family would skyrocket.

”You may all compete for his affection,” Shen Songshan said calmly. To him, exchanging one woman for an unparalleled genius was a deal with no downside. The Shen Family had plenty of women, and if they ran out, they could always produce more.

The girls were overjoyed to hear this. They had feared Shen Songshan would simply appoint someone to marry Ye Xiu, leaving them no chance. Now that he was letting them compete on their own merits, every one of them had hope.

Ye Xiu had no idea he had become the target of a group of women’s affections. He finally arrived at the base of Building 15 with Shen Monong.

”The door is locked, we can’t get in—”

Before Shen Monong could finish her sentence, she watched Ye Xiu reduce the door to pieces with a few swift slashes.

”You’re too violent,” Shen Monong chided.

Ye Xiu ignored her, letting go of her hand to enter the building first. Shen Monong quickly followed.

Once they were in the elevator, Shen Monong said, ”I’ve figured you out. You’re arrogant, you have a violent streak, and you’re a player. Unless you change these bad habits, I won’t agree to be your girlfriend.”

”Sigh,” Ye Xiu sighed. ”You’ve really taught me the meaning of ’looks can be deceiving’.”

Shen Monong’s appearance, temperament, figure, and family background were all top-tier. At first glance, one might mistake her for a sophisticated and mature woman. In reality, she was completely delusional.

She’s hopeless!

”What’s that supposed to mean? Hey, are you insulting me again, just in a roundabout way? Say something!”

Shen Monong bristled with anger, planting her hands on her hips as she unleashed a tirade at Ye Xiu. When he continued to ignore her, she fumed, ”I’m angry now, and I don’t want to be cheered up. I’m not speaking to you anymore. Hmph!”

She turned her head away, expecting him to apologize immediately.

Heh. He couldn’t be happier that she’d finally shut up.

The elevator finally reached the top floor.

Seeing that Ye Xiu still hadn’t apologized, Shen Monong grew even angrier.

The two of them stepped out onto the rooftop.

WHOOSH!

The women of the Shen Family surged forward. Before Shen Monong could even react, she was shoved back, stumbling and landing hard on the floor.

Seeing this, Shen Shijie hurried over to help his daughter up.

”Dad, what’s going on?” Shen Monong asked with a dazed, innocent expression.

”Your great-grandfather said he’s a once-in-a-century genius and has allowed all the unmarried women in the Shen Family to pursue him. Monong, you have to try your best! Whether our branch of the family can rise depends on you,” Shen Shijie said quickly.

”What?”

Shen Monong was dumbfounded. Just moments ago in the elevator, she had been playing hard to get, telling Ye Xiu she wouldn’t be his girlfriend unless he changed his flaws. Now, in the blink of an eye, every unmarried girl in the family was fighting to win him over.

What a mess! Did I really just push a precious treasure into everyone else’s arms?

Shen Monong looked at the bewildered Ye Xiu, who was now surrounded by a flock of women. Even if she wanted to, she couldn’t squeeze her way through the crowd.

”Handsome, I’m Shen Wanqiu. My father is Shen Shihao, and I’m from the Main Lineage of the Shen Family...”

”I’m Shen Jiayi! Will you be my boyfriend?”

”Are you free tonight? Don’t look away, look at me! Let’s have dinner together, okay?”

Ye Xiu stared, bewildered, at the sea of young women throwing themselves at him. He struggled to break free, but he couldn’t escape the enthusiastic crowd. He couldn’t just kill them all, could he?

”Hey, keep your hands to yourself!”

”Enough!” Shen Shihao boomed. ”You are all members of the Shen Family! Throwing yourselves at him like this is utterly disgraceful.”

At his words, the young women clinging to Ye Xiu hastily backed away, though their gazes remained fixed on him with fiery passion.

”Young man, we meet again,” Shen Shihao said, walking over with a placating smile. ”I was just playing a little joke on you earlier. I hope you won’t take it to heart.”

He was genuinely afraid Ye Xiu held a grudge. If Ye Xiu were to marry a girl from a rival faction, he would surely become an enemy.

”A little joke?” Ye Xiu snorted coldly. ”You captured me indiscriminately, forced me to take the Cartilage Elixir, and sent me to the Lian Family to die. If that’s what you call a ’little joke,’ then I suppose there are no big jokes left in this world.”

As soon as he said this, looks of displeasure crossed the faces of all the Shen Family members. They silently cursed Ye Xiu for his low emotional intelligence. Now that he was on Shen Family turf, even if he hated Shen Shihao, he should at least pretend otherwise on the surface.

”Kid, you’ve got some nerve, don’t you? How dare you talk to my father like that? You must be tired of living,” a young man fumed as he strode forward.

SLAP!

”Insolent!” Shen Shihao slapped his son across the face. ”You have no right to speak here! Apologize to this young man at once!”

The young man was left speechless.

”You are the one being presumptuous!” Shen Songshan’s voice cut through the air, cold as ice. ”While I admire this young man’s talent, he is still an outsider. If he forgives your ’little joke,’ the Shen Family is willing to befriend him, and our unmarried women will be his to choose from. But if he does not forgive you, then he is an enemy of the Shen Family. And you, Shen Shihao, to gain his forgiveness, to flatter him, you would strike your own son. Have you no shame?”
