Medical and Martial God

Chapter 295: Chapter 295: Rebellion in the Nest?

”We’re screwed. We’re definitely going to die!”

An Dongye’s face turned ghastly pale. She couldn’t swim, but even if she could, her speed would be no match for the motorboats. With so many of them, each carrying a gunner, escape was impossible. Jumping into the water would mean getting riddled with bullets.

”You’ve prepared quite thoroughly,” Ye Xiu said, his voice deep as he glared coldly at Xia Xue.

”You underestimated me!” A triumphant, hideous smile spread across Xia Xue’s grim face. ”The bridge is blocked by cars, with 130 well-trained assassins and 130 guns. Below, there are 195 motorboats. Ye Xiu, let alone you—not even Huang Quan could escape this, even if he grew wings.”

Look at how cocky you are.

”Sigh, it seems I’m really going to die today,” Ye Xiu lamented. ”Could you answer a few questions for a dying man?”

”Ask away. I’ll answer at my discretion.” Xia Xue wore the expression of a cat toying with a mouse. With Ye Xiu’s life in her hands, she was in no hurry to strike. Watching him struggle in desperation filled her with glee.

”First question: we have no grievances between us, and I have no quarrel with the Heavenly Dragon Sect. Why do you want me dead?” Ye Xiu asked.

”You already know the answer to that, don’t you?” Xia Xue sneered. ”I am Shen Tianfang’s wife, which makes me part of the Shen Family. You want to destroy the Shen Family, so you are my enemy. It’s only right that I kill you.”

”Second question: how did you manage to build an intelligence network and train so many assassins without the Heavenly Dragon Sect knowing?” Ye Xiu pressed on.

This was what he truly wanted to know. How could Xia Xue, a disabled woman, build such a massive intelligence network, train so many assassins, and even secure channels for purchasing military-grade weapons, all without the Heavenly Dragon Sect’s knowledge? Ye Xiu didn’t believe a disabled person could accomplish this. She must have someone backing her. After all, the Heavenly Dragon Sect was far too poor to support such an extensive network and that many assassins.

”The intelligence network isn’t mine, nor did I train the assassins. I was merely granted the authority to use them,” Xia Xue said.

Just as I thought.

Ye Xiu continued, ”Then who built the network and trained all these assassins?”

”I cannot answer that question,” Xia Xue refused.

”Can’t you bear to see me die with lingering regrets?” Ye Xiu asked.

”Now that you mention it, I’m quite looking forward to it.” Xia Xue’s expression grew manic. ”The whole nation would envy me for getting to witness the famous Xuanse Medicine King die with his eyes wide open in regret.”

This lunatic. She’s twisted to the bone.

”It seems I’ll have to try a different approach with you,” Ye Xiu sighed in disappointment.

”Oh?” Xia Xue asked, her interest piqued. ”I’m rather curious. You’re surrounded and on the brink of death. What leverage could you possibly have to change the terms of this conversation?”

WHOOSH!

Ye Xiu vanished. The next moment, he reappeared before Xia Xue, grabbed her by the collar, and returned to his original spot in the same instant.

”How do you like this approach?” Ye Xiu asked, lifting her effortlessly by the collar.

In truth, Ye Xiu had been feigning weakness all along, giving Xia Xue the illusion that he was trapped and powerless. His goal was to coax the answers he wanted from her. But since she wouldn’t talk, he had to resort to this.

Only then did Xia Xue, An Dongye, the middle-aged woman who had been pushing the wheelchair, and the 130 black-clad, masked gunners process what had happened.

Ye Xiu had captured Xia Xue with unbelievable speed. It was so fast that no one present had seen it; it was as if he hadn’t moved at all, and Xia Xue had simply run into his grasp.

”Haha, little bro, you’re amazing!” An Dongye exclaimed, giddy with excitement. ”Capture the ringleader to capture the whole gang. Now that Xia Xue is in your hands, we’re safe!”

”You’re celebrating too soon!” Xia Xue suddenly began to convulse as if having a seizure, her head thrashing wildly. ”Living as something neither human nor ghost, I lost all attachment to this world long ago. For Shen Tianfang and the Shen Family, what does my death matter? To have you, Ye Xiu, accompany me in death would be a glorious end.”

She then let out a bloodcurdling scream, ”Everyone, listen! Shoot me and Ye Xiu! Kill us both immediately!”

An Dongye’s momentary joy instantly plunged into despair. Clenching her teeth, she prepared to take a few of them down with her.

Ye Xiu was also stunned by Xia Xue’s madness. This woman was so devoted to Shen Tianfang that she would rather die than fail to kill him.

This is definitely true love.

”Even if Miss Xia hadn’t given that order, we would have done so anyway,” the middle-aged woman pushing the wheelchair sneered. Her simple, honest demeanor vanished, replaced by a sharp, cold expression.

Ye Xiu was stunned. It seems this middle-aged woman is an undercover agent planted by the person behind the intelligence network!

”Sister Han... you... you’re one of these assassins?” Xia Xue stammered, turning to the middle-aged woman in utter disbelief.

”That’s right,” the woman known as Sister Han replied with a cold smirk.

”Why? We’re on the same side! Why do you want to kill me?” Xia Xue’s deranged state was gone, her face now a mask of pure disbelief.

”I don’t want to kill you. These are the Master’s orders,” Sister Han said coldly. ”My mission was clear: the moment you fall into Ye Xiu’s hands, I am to order that you both be shot and killed together.”

Xia Xue fell silent. Only then did she finally understand. She was nothing more than a pawn for Sister Han’s master to use against Ye Xiu—a disposable one at that.

”Miss Xia, any last words? Speak now. If not, I will give the order to fire,” Sister Han said expressionlessly, sitting casually in Xia Xue’s wheelchair.

”To save Shen Tianfang and the Shen Family, my death is a small price to pay,” Xia Xue said with resolve. ”Relay a message to Shen Tianfang for me. Tell him my love for him has never changed. And as I die, I hope he’ll stop messing around and get serious.”

”Very well, I will relay the message.” Sister Han nodded. She raised her right hand and shouted, ”Everyone, on my command—”

RATATATATA...

Before she could finish, the 100 black-clad, masked gunners with AKs surrounding Ye Xiu suddenly opened fire.

The 30 black-clad, masked gunners behind Sister Han, armed with Type 95 assault rifles, were caught completely off guard and annihilated in an instant. They all died with their eyes wide open in shock. Even in death, they couldn’t comprehend why their own people had killed them.

An Dongye, Xia Xue, and Sister Han were dumbfounded, especially An Dongye. The moment Sister Han had begun to give the order, An Dongye had already aimed her own pistol at her forehead, ready to fire.

But then, some of her own troops had opened fire on the others.

What is going on?
