Chapter 271: Chapter 271 Ye Xiu Meets Me and Calls Me Grandpa

Bao Yadong and Xu Fengmei believed it. Although they didn’t know Ye Xiu, they had heard countless legends about him. For example, Ye Xiu had fled the country for ten years and had only recently returned to clear his name. Unless he possessed the ability to impregnate a woman from thousands of miles away, he could not possibly be Xiaobao’s father.

”I told you he wasn’t Xiaobao’s dad, but you just wouldn’t believe me,” Bao Niannian muttered.

Bao Yadong and Xu Fengmei were mortified.

”Divine Doctor Ye, well, I’m sorry, I... I didn’t realize it was you, um...” Bao Yadong hurried to apologize, but he was so nervous that he couldn’t form a complete sentence. The Bao Family was one of the four great families of Qi Yun Dao, and as its head, Bao Yadong was immensely powerful. However, facing Ye Xiu, he didn’t dare act presumptuously, especially with the patriarch’s life in Ye Xiu’s hands.

”Divine Doctor Ye, haha, I...” Xu Fengmei, her face flushed red, wanted to explain but didn’t know what to say. She was so embarrassed she wished she could find a hole to crawl into.

”Alright, alright. As long as the misunderstanding is cleared up... Good grief, all this shouting is making my head spin.” Ye Xiu waved his hand, indicating they didn’t need to apologize.

Seeing that Ye Xiu wasn’t angry, the members of the Bao Family breathed a collective sigh of relief.

”Divine Doctor Ye, my father’s life is hanging by a thread. Please, you must save him. I am willing to pay any price,” Bao Yadong pleaded, dropping to his knees in front of Ye Xiu.

Seeing this, Xu Fengmei and Bao Niannian quickly knelt as well.

”Divine Doctor Ye, I misunderstood you and offended you. Please, blame me. Punish me however you see fit, but I beg you to save my father,” Xu Fengmei repented.

”Divine Doctor Ye, please,” Bao Niannian also begged.

”Daddy, I’m begging you...” Xiaobao also knelt, earnestly mimicking the adults.

”And I’m begging you to stop calling me ’Dad’,” Ye Xiu said, a headache building. ”Ghost Doctor, get Xiaobao out of here and treat his hernia. His ’daddy’ calls are about to give me an internal injury!”

”Oh, of course!” The Ghost Doctor hurriedly carried Xiaobao away, nearly bursting into laughter. He’d known Ye Xiu for many years but had never seen him so flustered.

”All of you, get up. Fine, I’ll save him, alright? Dammit, it’s like I owed your family a debt in a past life. I’ll just hurry up and treat the old man so I can stay far away from all of you in the future.”

Grumbling under his breath, Ye Xiu walked toward the emergency room.

Seeing Ye Xiu agree to save the patriarch in such a manner, Bao Yadong, Xu Fengmei, and Bao Niannian finally relaxed.

”With Divine Doctor Ye here, Grandpa will be saved!” Bao Niannian said.

”Yes, Divine Doctor Ye’s medical skills were already miraculous ten years ago. It was said there was no disease he couldn’t cure. After a decade, his skills must be even greater. Treating a simple stroke will be no problem at all,” Xu Fengmei said, full of confidence in Ye Xiu.

”Our Bao Family is truly fortunate. With Divine Doctor Ye taking action, Dad won’t have to suffer anymore,” Bao Yadong said with a smile.

”This is all thanks to Niannian,” Xu Fengmei took the opportunity to say. ”If Niannian hadn’t met Divine Doctor Ye by a fortunate coincidence, if Xiaobao hadn’t called him ’Dad,’ and if I hadn’t misunderstood the situation, none of this would be happening today.”

”Let’s go. We’ll wait by the emergency room door,” Bao Yadong said.

The family of three had just arrived at the emergency room door when Shen Qilin walked over with a smile.

”How is Elder Bao?” he asked.

”The Ghost Doctor couldn’t cure my dad’s illness, so he went to treat Xiaobao’s hernia,” Bao Yadong replied.

”What?” Shen Qilin’s expression changed instantly. That meant the alliance between the Shen and Bao Families was off the table!

”But the Ghost Doctor’s master has gone in,” Bao Yadong added with a smile.

What? The Ghost Doctor’s master? Ye Xiu? Shen Qilin was furious. He had pulled countless strings, but none could secure him an audience with Ye Xiu. Yet here Ye Xiu was, coming on his own to treat the Bao Family’s patriarch. It was a slap in the face.

Despite his anger, he forced a smile and said, ”I was the one who invited Divine Doctor Ye here.”

Bao Yadong replied with a dry, ”Heh... heh.”

None the wiser, Xu Fengmei asked, ”Is Elder Shen very familiar with Divine Doctor Ye?”

”Of course!” Shen Qilin boasted. ”When Ye Xiu was clearing his name a while ago, I helped him out quite a bit. He even calls me ’Grandpa Shen’ whenever he sees me.”

”Alright, I have some other matters to attend to, so I’ll take my leave. Ye Xiu will definitely cure Elder Bao. As for the alliance between the Shen and Bao Families, I’ll send a dedicated representative to your home to discuss it.” With that, he hurried away. He didn’t dare stay any longer, lest Ye Xiu come out and expose his bluff.

What Shen Qilin didn’t know was that if he had stayed, he would have learned that Ye Xiu was the one who had operated on Shen Shihao. He would have also learned that the Ghost Doctor was Ye Xiu’s disciple, which might have led him to guess that the Ghost Doctor hadn’t performed Shen Shihao’s surgery properly. But to avoid his bluff being called, he chose to leave.

Just as Shen Qilin was leaving the hospital building, he ran into Shen Sijun.

”What are you doing here?” Shen Qilin asked with disgust. He had far too many grandchildren. He liked a few but disliked most, and Shen Sijun was chief among his least favorites. There had been several times he’d barely restrained himself from beating the boy with the sole of his shoe.

”Grandpa, that guy is actually the man with Bao Niannian, and he’s the father of her son,” Shen Sijun reported, fawning and eager for praise.

”Oh?” Shen Qilin’s eyes narrowed. ”Is that true?”

Unashamed, Shen Sijun recounted his experiences from that morning in detail. He paid special attention to the part about Ye Xiu eating breakfast with Bao Niannian and her son, describing it with great precision.

”If that’s the case, an alliance between the Shen and Bao Families is impossible. In fact, the Bao Family will surely become our enemy.” Shen Qilin narrowed his eyes and said coldly, ”We need to strike first. Get rid of the Bao Family and that boy.”

”Grandpa, do you have a plan? I have one,” Shen Sijun offered ingratiatingly.

”If you have something to say, spit it out,” Shen Qilin snapped impatiently.

”I’ve noticed that Bao Yadong, Xu Fengmei, and Bao Niannian don’t have any bodyguards with them. We can easily kidnap them and use their lives to lure that boy into a trap. Then, we can wipe them all out in one fell swoop,” Shen Sijun said with a sinister laugh.

Shen Qilin’s eyes lit up. I didn’t think this worthless grandson of mine actually had a brain in his head.

He said, ”Good. I’ll leave this matter in your hands. My driver and bodyguards will be at your disposal.”

Shen Sijun was ecstatic. ”Grandpa, rest assured, I will handle this matter flawlessly.”

”Yes,” Shen Qilin acknowledged with a nod before leaving.

Shen Sijun was thrilled. Grandfather entrusted such an important task to me! And Great-Grandfather once said that whoever killed that boy would be designated as part of the Main Lineage. It seems Grandfather wants to give that position to me!

Bao Niannian and her family waited outside the emergency room. In less than twenty minutes, all the other doctors filed out. About half an hour after that, Ye Xiu and the Bao Family patriarch, Bao Longtu, emerged, talking and laughing together.

Seeing his father, Bao Longtu, glowing with health and vigor, Bao Yadong asked excitedly, ”Dad, are you alright?”
