After giving it some thought, Lu Ye realised it wasn’t surprising. He had purchased the Thousand Demon Ridge’s Battlefield Imprint from the Hall of Battle Points. Although it could only last for four hours, it had all the functions.

In a way, it was a real Thousand Demon Ridge’s Battlefield Imprint. Naturally, it could easily pass the enchantment’s inspection.

The older woman must’ve visited Thousand Demon City many times, so she directly flew forward in a particular direction. Soon enough, they landed in a courtyard, after which she turned around and said to Tong Shuyao, “I’ll start healing my injury now. You two can do your own things.”

Then, she sent a signal to Tong Shuyao with her eyes.

Knowing what the older woman meant, Tong Shuyao replied respectfully, “Yes, Martial Aunt.”

After the older woman was gone, Tong Shuyao said to Lu Ye, “Junior Brother Taibai, since it’s your first time in Thousand Demon City, why don’t I show you around?”

Lu Ye initially wanted to turn her down, but after some deliberation, he nodded instead. “Sure. Thanks, Senior Sister Tong.”

“Don’t mention it. Let’s go.”

The situation in Thousand Demon City was roughly the same as that in Grand Sky City. During this period, there were not many cultivators in the city. The number of people was within the normal range. Sometimes, they could see some Divine Ocean Realm Masters flying around.

As Tong Shuyao led Lu Ye to stroll around the city, she said, “Junior Brother Taibai, although you’re from the Peerless Continent, you’ve come to Jiu Zhou and joined Thousand Demon Ridge, after all. You have to be part of the Zhou Watch eventually. Only then can you start making contributions and earning battle points. You have to do it sooner.”

She had received the older woman’s signal earlier. Besides keeping an eye on Lu Ye, she also had to persuade him to join the Zhou Watch. Naturally, she hoped that the man would become part of the Zhou Watch and work for her Martial Aunt.

Given the older woman’s cultivation and capabilities, she could force Lu Ye to join the Zhou Watch. However, she refrained from doing that as she wanted Lu Ye to willingly agree to it.

“You have a point, Senior Sister Tong,” Lu Ye said perfunctorily while thinking that considering the situation, he didn’t have a chance to leave, which was giving him a headache.

After all, Tong Shuyao was relentlessly following him around. If Lu Ye dared to do anything suspicious, she would immediately contact the older woman.

Puzzled, he asked, “There are many brilliant cultivators in Thousand Demon Ridge. Why has your Martial Aunt chosen me?”

“Well, it’s because she can see the potential in you.” Tong Shuyao chuckled with a slightly red face. It wasn’t like she could tell Lu Ye she had begged the older woman for it.

Lu Ye thought the older woman had taken an interest in him because of his excellent performance. Unbeknownst to him, it was his handsome face that invited the trouble to him.

Although the older woman was Tong Shuyao’s Martial Aunt, they were as close as Mother and Daughter. In the tent back then, Tong Shuyao had pleaded with the older woman, who directly agreed to it.

Furthermore, Lu Ye had indeed done a great job in assisting her to fend off the enemy, and his cultivation was good enough to warrant him a place in the Zhou Watch.

Initially, she thought that Lu Ye would be grateful if she invited him to join the Zhou Watch. Much to her surprise, Lu Ye only beat around the bush, which was why she was displeased.

“I’d like to go to the Sanctum of Providence and buy some cultivation resources. Can you lead the way for me, Senior Sister Tong?” Lu Ye said.

“This way.” Tong Shuyao skipped forward with her hands behind her back. It was apparent that she was in a jovial mood. It seemed that the Real Lake Realm Masters who were killed weren’t so close to her.

Soon enough, they arrived at the Sanctum of Providence. Lu Ye pressed his hand against the Divine Opportunity Column and entered the Hall of Battle Points where he purchased a Thousand Demon Ridge’s Battlefield Imprint. Only then was he relieved.

After leaving the Sanctum of Providence, he saw Tong Shuyao waiting for him. He stepped forward and said, “Senior Sister Tong, please inform your Martial Aunt that I’m willing to join the Zhou Watch and work for her.”

He understood that since he couldn’t avoid the matter, he could only deal with it head-on. Moreover, if he looked at the matter from a different perspective, it might not be a bad thing.

If he could join the Zhou Watch of Thousand Demon Ridge, it would be easy for him to gather some information, which might become useful in the future when he least expected it.

Usually, it was extremely difficult for the Grand Sky Coalition to get some moles into Thousand Demon Ridge. Now that the chance was right before Lu Ye’s eyes, he naturally didn’t want to miss it.

“For real?” Tong Shuyao appeared elated.

Lu Ye nodded. “Yes.”

“That’s wonderful. But we’ll have to wait for two days as my Martial Aunt is recuperating. When she recovers, I’ll inform her immediately.”

On their way back, Tong Shuyao became even happier. The smile never faded from her face as she hummed a song.

Upon their return, they went to their own rooms and got some rest. For the next two days, Tong Shuyao would frequently look for Lu Ye, which made him feel helpless.

Two days later, the older woman was done with recuperation. Tong Shuyao immediately informed her that Lu Ye was willing to become a member of the Zhou Watch. Only then did the older woman’s gaze turn milder as she said to Lu Ye, “Come with me.”

Lu Ye had joined the Zhou Watch of the Grand Sky Coalition before. He had never expected that he would have to do it again months later. Furthermore, he was going to be part of Thousand Demon Ridge’s Zhou Watch.

The process was roughly the same as the previous time. First, he had to go to the Ministry of Recruitment and register his name before getting his military token. Then, the Battle Point Disc would calculate the battle points he had accumulated, which would determine his military title.

Supposedly, his identity had to be verified when a registration was made. It wasn’t difficult to do that for cultivators in Jiu Zhou. They just had to send some messages.

Nevertheless, Li Taibai was from the Peerless Continent, and he was an independent cultivator whose identity was untraceable. It was hard for those from the Ministry of Recruitment to verify his identity. Also, with the older woman’s guarantee, the matter was put aside.

Naturally, Li Taibai, a fake identity, had never earned any battle points before. Therefore, when Lu Ye placed his Thousand Demon Ridge’s Battlefield Imprint on the Battle Point Disc, it only radiated a white glow.

Normally, he could only become a sentry, but due to the fact that he was a Real Lake Realm Master, he was given the rank of second lieutenant.

The rule was the same as that in the Grand Sky Coalition. Anyone who was a Real Lake Realm Master could become a second lieutenant at the very least. Certainly, if Lu Ye wanted to get promotions in the future, he had to accumulate more battle points.

He felt conflicted deep within as he left the Ministry of Recruitment with the older woman.

[This is ridiculous…] Now, it could be said that he had two identities. On the one hand, he was Lu Ye from the Crimson Blood Sect. On the other hand, he was Li Taibai, an independent cultivator from the Peerless Continent.

It was recorded in the Thousand Demon Ridge’s Battlefield Imprint. When Lu Ye sank his soul into it, he could see the information inside.

Name: Li Taibai

Identity: An independent cultivator from the Peerless Continent

Cultivation: Third-Order Real Lake Realm

Location: Thousand Demon City

Contribution points: 0

Battle points: 0

In the past, he had looked into the Thousand Demon Ridge’s Battlefield Imprint, but there wasn’t a record. Now that there was one, it showed that his new identity had been acknowledged by the Heavens.

“Let’s go. We’ll go to the Pass now,” the older woman said. This time, she didn’t let Lu Ye and Tong Shuyao fly. She summoned a Flight-Type Artifact and left Thousand Demon City with the two of them.

Normally, after a person joined the Zhou Watch, he would be assigned to a particular Pass by the Ministry of Appointments.

However, the older woman was a Divine Ocean Realm Master who held an important position within Thousand Demon Ridge. Naturally, it wasn’t difficult for her to get anyone from the Ministry of Appointments. As such, Lu Ye directly became her subordinate after he joined the Zhou Watch.

“I’m Lin Yue, the Pass Leader of Dark Moon Forest Pass under Clear Jade Canyon. You’ll work for me from now on. When we arrive at the Pass, I’ll grant you the title of Chief Walker. You and Yao’er have to help each other out. If there’s anything you don’t understand, you can ask her about it,” the older woman said.

It wasn’t until now that Lu Ye found out the older woman’s name. He also couldn’t believe that Chief Walker was a real title. When he learned that Yi Yi had obtained the title, he thought that Nian Yuexian had made it up. Now, he realised that there was indeed such a title.

“Thanks for taking care of me, Senior.” Lu Ye saluted her.

“Call her Madam.” Tong Shuyao tugged at the man’s sleeve.

“Thanks, Madam.” Lu Ye obliged.

Tong Shuyao then asked, “Martial Aunt, is the wicked woman still in the Desolate Plain? Will we come across her?”

Lin Yue shook her head. “She’s not there anymore. From what I’ve gathered, she has made her way out of the Desolate Plain and returned to Blue Flame Mountain Pass.”

“She really is something.” Tong Shuyao was amazed.

Lu Ye appeared calm. Previously, he had contacted Nian Yuexian and found out about her situation. Nian Yuexian asked him where he was and how he was doing, but Lu Ye couldn’t tell her the truth because he didn’t want her to be worried. He only said that he had come across an opportunity, so he would only return to Blue Flame Mountain Pass at a later time.

Nian Yuexian didn’t suspect anything. Although she was worried about Lu Ye’s safety, she couldn’t go further into the Desolate Plain. It had been smooth sailing for her as she returned to her Pass. All the hustle and bustle died down in the Desolate Plain following her departure. The flying swords that came from the Sword and Tool Sect had found new owners as well.

A Divine Ocean Realm Master could move swiftly by driving an Artifact. Although Lin Yue didn’t fully activate her power, it only took her four to six hours to arrive at Dark Moon Forest Pass after she left Thousand Demon City.

In Thousand Demon Ridge, Dark Moon Forest Pass belonged to Clear Jade Canyon, which corresponded to Heavenly Gate Canyon of the Grand Sky Coalition.

Since the two sides were across from each other, there had been countless conflicts over the years.

From afar, one could see many cultivators moving around in the city. This place was undoubtedly livelier than the dilapidated Blue Flame Mountain Pass.

Both sides had many Passes, and every Pass had a city which was normally guarded by 3,000 to 5,000 cultivators. Only Blue Flame Mountain Pass was special as the place was desolate. In the past decades, Nian Yuexian had been on her own in the Pass. Certainly, the Pass was safe thanks to her powerful cultivation.

Given her power, she had the right to be a Canyon Leader. However, she didn’t like to fight for power and had her principles, which was why she had only been guarding Blue Flame Mountain Pass.

It was thanks to Lu Ye’s arrival that the Pass seemed slightly livelier.

After they entered Dark Moon Forest Pass, a cultivator came over and reported to the older woman about what had happened in the past few days.

Tong Shuyao and Lu Ye walked behind Lin Yue as they listened attentively.

A moment later, Lin Yue waved her hand, after which the cultivator respectfully left. She then turned around and said to Tong Shuyao, “Help him settle in.”

“Yes,” Tong Shuyao replied.
