Cultivating Disciples to Breakthrough

After leaving the battlefield to digest what he had managed to gain from the life and death struggle, Chu Yang didn’t take long to find a secluded space to enter seclusion. Ensuring that the area he found was safe and wouldn’t end up being easily disturbed even if another large-scale battle ended up erupting nearby. After all, this was the Eastern Central Region where wars could break out at any moment, when finding somewhere to enter seclusion, one didn’t just have to consider the ability to hide oneself from others, but also how likely it would be for a war to break out in the surrounding area.

Because of this, the normally obvious hiding spaces for wandering cultivators and those away from home in the wilderness and desolate regions wasn’t an option. For the simple reason that it was most often in these areas where wars and large-scale battles between smaller and larger power erupted. Making those areas far from safe when it came to entering a longer seclusion.

In the end, the area that had been deemed the safest to enter secluded cultivation in the Eastern Central Region was close to a major city of one of the different major powers, but not too close, as a major city would inevitably have a lot of traffic.

This did in turn make it more dangerous to enter secluded cultivation for wandering cultivators in the Eastern Central Region, but there was nothing much they could do about it even if they wanted to complain about the constant wars that seemed never ending and could erupt for seemingly no reason at a moment’s notice.

After all, at the end of the day, outside of their lack of strength when it came to preventing the constant wars, most of the wandering cultivators didn’t really want to end the constant wars. The sole reason being that the constant wars also meant countless opportunities for these wandering cultivators, either from becoming mercenaries or looting battlefields afterwards.

Even if most precious artifacts and interspatial rings would normally be taken away before these wandering cultivators could gain access to these battlefields, there would inevitably be some things that were missed and if that something happened to be the interspatial ring of a fallen Soul Ascension Realm cultivator- or in rare instances, a Dao Seed Realm cultivator, it had the potential to spark another upheaval amongst the wandering cultivators scouring through the left behind battlefield.

Of course, none of this had any real importance to Chu Yang as he wasn’t a wandering cultivator and didn’t have a need to search through the remnants of left behind battlefields for resources. Instead, the main thing he was focused on after finding a suitable place to digest his gains from the recent battle was improving his Dao of Blood. Focusing all his energy on it to try and break through to the Elementary Realm in the Dao of Blood.

Not just because doing so would feed back to his Dao of the Spear and improve that in the process, but also because he could clearly feel that the spark of inspiration he had felt after witnessing the Celestial Immortal Realm cultivator wielding the Dao of Blood was starting to fade.

This was not because his comprehension was lacking in any way, it was just because what he had witnessed was far too profound for him to grasp with his current comprehension of the Dao of Blood, let alone remember in perfect detail… And so, the knowledge he had barely grasped onto at the battlefield had already started to fade away by the time he found somewhere to enter secluded cultivation. Essentially forcing him to focus on the Dao of Blood if he wanted to have a chance at reaching the Elementary Realm.

Luckily, his quick thinking to leave the battlefield after the battle between the two Celestial Immortal Realm cultivators and the mysterious Soul Ascension Realm cultivator concluded proved to have been the right decision, as only two weeks after forcing himself into secluded cultivation, he managed to successfully break through to the Elementary Realm in the Dao of Blood. Elevating the strength of his Dao of the Spear in the process as he clearly sensed the Dao of Blood seamlessly merging with it without requiring any extra attention from him. Only a single thought and the two Daos merged seamlessly. Enhancing his overall power by another notch.

If before, his strength had been comparable to someone at the Second Tribulation of the Soul Ascension Realm. Now that his comprehension of the Dao of Blood had broken through to the Elementary Realm, his strength had reached a level comparable to the Third Tribulation of the Soul Ascension Realm, potentially even allowing him to fight against someone at the Fourth Tribulation of the Soul Ascension Realm without encountering any problems along the way.

Of course, comprehending the Dao of Blood wasn’t entirely due to his own efforts, but also had to do with the Devil Immortal Jade inside his dantian assisting him with comprehending the Dao of Blood. Lending him a crucial boost in his comprehension that allowed him to pass through the bottleneck to the Elementary Realm without much difficulty.

After stabilizing his realm following his advancement in the Dao of Blood, his comprehension of the Dao of the Spear followed shortly after.

Although his comprehension of the Dao of the Spear didn’t break through to the Small Success Realm, it at least managed to reach the Peak of the Elementary Realm. Firmly establishing his strength in the Middle Stage of the Soul Ascension Realm. Only a single step away from being able to contend with someone at the Later Stages of the Soul Ascension Realm.

As for the Peak of the Soul Ascension Realm… Chu Yang doubted that he would be able to contend against someone like before breaking through to the Intermediate Stage of the Dao Domain Lord Realm.

…

A few days earlier, while Chu Yang was still in seclusion comprehending the Dao of Blood, Xuan Hao’s two other disciples currently outside the sect found themselves in a rather troublesome situation while wandering through the old territory of the fallen Sky Empire searching for opportunities to further improve their Dao of Alchemy.

The troublesome thing in question was a massive root belonging to an unknown tree that had long since died off. Leaving behind a single massive root-

”This… What in the world is this thing? W-why does it wiggle like that…?”

”I… I don’t know…”

Or more specifically, the fact that the lone tree root was wiggling on its own randomly, causing small earthquakes to spread through the surroundings as it wiggled.

In fact, it was these small earthquakes that had drawn the attention of both Qing Yi and Chun Hua, causing them to run over to investigate. Never expecting the cause of the small earthquakes to be a massive wiggling tree root.

Now that they found themselves standing in front of this strange tree root, both of them had no idea how to react, as they could only speechlessly watch the tree root wiggling in place like there was no tomorrow.

Normally, they would have picked up the tree root to stop the damage it was causing to the surrounding environment, but someone who had arrived earlier than them, someone at the Later Stages of the Domain Lord Realm, had personally demonstrated why doing so was a bad idea, as the wiggling tree root had knocked them flying into the distance the second they had attempted to pick it up.

Not only was this lone tree root extremely strange, but it also had the power to easily knock someone at the Late Stage of the Domain Lord Realm flying with ease. Making it clear to both Qing Yi and Chun Hua that they wouldn’t be able to deal with this tree root with their current strength.

The only thing the two of them could do was join a few other cultivators who had been attracted by the small earthquakes and study the strange wiggling tree root from a distance without getting too close.

Even though they had normally not thought about doing something like that considering that they were still trying to search for opportunities to improve their Dao of Alchemy, they soon enough discovered that by studying the strange tree root, they found their understanding of the Dao of Alchemy deepening.

In other words, the strange wiggling tree root should be some kind of inheritance left behind by a powerful alchemist or some strange natural wonder deeply related to the Dao of Alchemy.

No matter what it was, it wasn’t an opportunity that Qing Yi or Chun Hua were willing to miss out on, as they both focused their full attention on comprehending the Dao of Alchemy from the strange wiggling tree root. Not caring much about their surroundings, as everyone else were similarly focused on comprehending the Dao of Alchemy or something different they might grasped from the strange wiggling tree root.
