Facing an Ancient God for a Year

Chapter 2146: Chapter 2141: Confinement (15)

The door was heavy, but not to the point of being unmovable.

As it slowly swung open, the person behind it didn’t dodge, nor were they hit.

Even their head remained in place.

This person wasn’t wrong; abandoning childish ways can help you discover more interesting things—

Of course, it’s not some legend like a flying head; his entire body was hanging on the door.

Fu Qian, who stepped in, easily found out the secret of the head’s height.

Behind this door was a device welded on, allowing one to cling to it like a gecko.

Both hand and foot joints, as well as the waist and back, had corresponding positions.

With slight adjustment, one could easily hang on it and stick their head out to observe.

Indeed, it’s visually effective, though getting down was a bit troublesome, which left the person facing Fu Qian with no strength to resist at the moment.

”Heh... if that’s all you want to see.”

But losing face doesn’t mean losing composure. Surprisingly, Fu Qian’s openness left the person climbing down somewhat embarrassed, so Brother Tantou simply maintained his position and let out a cold snort.

”Let me guess, one morning after a drunken night, you woke up and discovered your True Self, wanting to chase a long-lost dream, then driven by this impulse, you drove to a place you’ve only heard of...”

Not only that, but after glancing down from above at Fu Qian, he continued with his speculations.

And although he claimed it was a guess, he was quite confident in his judgment.

”Don’t be surprised; I’ve seen such scenarios countless times, and for people like you, this place is quite the norm... How else would you have found your way here?”

One has to admit, it’s a logical argument, and in fact, the last sentence pierces right through to the truth.

”Everyone indeed is quite accustomed.”

Fu Qian nodded, recalling his journey here.

”Then, when you finally arrive at this place, you feel lost until a unique color stirs you, feeling as though you’ve remembered some long-forgotten memory—that’s actually how you felt years ago!”

”Childishly naïve, do you really think your artistic Talent has suddenly blossomed?”

Even though the other person indeed acknowledged his statement, Brother Tantou, still somewhat flustered by Fu Qian’s overly calm demeanor, continued his sharp, ceaseless rhetoric while finally trying to extract himself from the door.

”So what if it’s really a child?”

Beside the door, there was a stool obviously used to climb up.

Fu Qian didn’t mind, directly sitting on it, watching Brother Tantou struggle on the door.

”Are you here for those two kids?”

Yet this ungracious action paled in comparison to the shock brought by his question.

Brother Tantou, halfway down, forgot to move for a moment.

...

Mr. Huck Sr.’s idea was indeed insightful; if he had come in work clothes, cooperation might not have been so easy.

Now, not only did he trigger a conversation, but he also gained some intriguing information.

At that moment, Fu Qian didn’t hesitate to praise his partner’s foresight.

”Continue.”

Of course, this didn’t mean he needed to answer questions; instead, he gestured with his hand.

”So what exactly are you here for?”

Unfortunately, perhaps too much pressure was applied, and Brother Tantou’s thoughts seemed somewhat distorted, leading him to continue asking questions.

”You don’t even know what you’re talking about, do you?”

To this, Fu Qian responded with a gentle smile, even hooking a stool beside him with his foot and pushing it over.

”...I met them yesterday, a boy and a girl, both just in their teens.”

Brother Tantou, true to his sensitivity as an artist, instinctively averted his gaze from that smile as he attempted to answer.

”They arrived quite early. I don’t even know how they got here... and they seemed uncertain of their purpose, looking quite bewildered.

”They seemed to be in a tiff; the girl had a fiery temper, while the boy kept trying to talk to her, but she ignored him.

”After watching for a while outside, they went one after another to the place you just wanted to go...”

Are the two missing individuals having team issues?

Brother Tantou’s description was vivid, allowing Fu Qian to easily imagine the scene of the two youth awkwardly heading towards the unknown—without even knowing their destination.

And Mr. Huck Sr. was right; the youngsters indeed came to the Art Prison.

True to the high hopes placed in him, Brother Tantou provided information that seemed to push the investigation forward significantly.

”High hopes” was not an exaggeration; after all, what better way to observe the comings and goings than a performance artist hanging onto a door?

”Childish choices.”

Yet, even so, Fu Qian had no intention of giving approval; instead, he embraced Brother Tantou’s oppressive style, glanced at the low tower, and repeated the earlier appraisal.

...

”I only saw them that one time and didn’t see them come out.”

Brother Tantou, finally down from the door, was still nervously licking his lips.

This time, he had learned the lesson, refraining from asking foolish questions and instead trying to squeeze his memory.

The information he provided at the end sounded all the more crucial.

Went in and didn’t come out?

”What did they say to you?”

Fu Qian nodded slightly.

”I didn’t talk to them much—just greeted them, and the girl told me to scram.”

Brother Tantou’s instinctive denial soon shifted midway through his response.

That’s more fitting.

Although apparently the previous remarks about childishness even in adulthood didn’t apply here, they were just part of the rhetoric, after all.

How could he miss such fine customers once he’s seen them?

Though it seemed that, in the end, they were still rejected.

”No worries, you can join us this time.”

Sweeping his gaze over the various oddities, Fu Qian didn’t mind the earlier efforts to conceal, even offering reassurance for the first time since their exchange.

”...I’m not very interested in that place.”

Upon understanding his meaning, Brother Tantou clearly showed some reluctance.

Yet, before he could finish his reasoning, the mysterious figure, seemingly hungover, had already stood up and walked out.

”But... I’m about to close.”

After a moment of daze came a strong restlessness, but alas, murmuring in self-talk, the figure showed no sign of turning back.
