Facing an Ancient God for a Year

Chapter 2110: Chapter 2105: Fused Nightmare

Although we mentioned earlier that we didn’t expect the Knight to come so soon, the Witch seemed to have planned it all along, and instantly had a thought for Fu Qian’s target.

”Actually, after noticing some changes, I had already thought of taking a look.”

While further explaining, the Witch relapsed into her old habits, lounging lazily in her seat, showing signs of procrastination.

”It’s fortunate you came by; I can save some effort. Want to guess where it is?”

Even her wings were tucked in, making people genuinely feel what leisure truly meant.

Where...

”Some nightmare?”

For the question she posed, Fu Qian pondered briefly before attempting to answer.

”Oh? Why do you think that?”

The Witch asked with interest.

”You’ve said you’ve been roaming outside for many years. If there was indeed something special left somewhere, it would’ve probably been discovered long ago.”

Fu Qian shook his head.

”So apart from paying respects to the noble one outside during convenient times, there’s seemingly little left worthy of exploration in the doomsday.

”On the contrary, the suddenly reappearing Star Law and the nightmares uncovered with it are quite intriguing. If I were you, I would find time to explore them and search for something interesting within.”

After quickly providing a reason, Fu Qian did not hide his attitude.

”Indeed, it seems non-realistic worlds are more interesting.”

The Witch laughed with more satisfaction, acknowledging Fu Qian’s conjecture.

”But there’s one point that’s inaccurate; it’s not just one nightmare, but several.”

...

Oh?

The Witch’s emphasis sounded somewhat strange.

Yet, in today’s leisurely mood, she kept it mysterious, even sitting up from her seat without explaining.

”Let’s go; you’ll know soon enough. You’ve seen this before, right?”

As she spoke, something appeared in her hand.

The brain fork?

Casually taking it, Fu Qian weighed the metal artifact in his hand.

Indeed, this was once used by the Celestial Sphere Sect, serving as a tool to enter the dreams of nightmare victims for nighttime patrols.

Just insert it into the dreamer’s head to activate, simple and convenient with no side effects.

But since it’s a new era, the design has changed somewhat comparatively.

It’s become smaller, with more intricate and exquisite patterns, yet the design remains a ring with a short blade, resembling a ceremonial artifact’s assembly.

”I’ve seen it. At the time, I did nighttime duty with the Celestial Sphere Sect, though I remember this thing had to be inserted into the head?”

Playing with the brain fork, Fu Qian praised the Pontiff for his thoughtful consideration.

As previously witnessed, this tool effectively disperses nightmares, engulfing others altogether.

This automatic effect is clearly fitting for my current situation; otherwise, relying on perception to touch would indeed be troublesome.

But this way, whose head to insert it into?

”Originally yes, but not anymore.”

Gesturing not to worry, the Witch casually took the brain fork back, saying this is the improved new era version.

And as soon as she finished speaking, she already stabbed it into the back of her hand.

”Additionally, due to changes in nature, Leytin’s people no longer have nightmares, so I can only share.”

Indeed, no need for inserting into the head anymore, additionally praising the Pontiff.

Observing the pierced pale skin, Fu Qian not only appreciated but also recalled a bizarre trivia — supposedly secondary brains of octopuses grow in their tentacles.

Of course, it was merely a thought; he didn’t voice such disrespectful words.

”What are you smiling at?”

Yet, the Witch’s insight was astonishingly sharp; the next second, she scrutinized him suspiciously.

”Nothing much, just thinking if adjustments are needed on my side.”

Fu Qian assumed a serious demeanor, his attention evidently on the upcoming exploration.

”If you can manage, it would be ideal; I could save some effort... Direct entry at the current ranking would exert immense pressure on the nightmare, so better control it, similar to the previous time.”

It’s hard to say how much the Witch believed the Knight’s equivocation, but she eventually returned to the main topic.

”Alright.”

Her situation seemed entirely reasonable; a complete Abandonment King directly entering a dream was indeed quite absurd.

On the other hand, it was professional, and Fu Qian, skilled in precise tuning, was willing to revert to the initial meeting time without any issues.

Almost immediately after the Witch finished speaking, he was done.

”Very well, let’s begin.”

Given the household Knight’s flexible approach, the Witch was evidently confident all along, nodding satisfactorily, something from her body spreading directly outward, resonating through the brain fork, enshrouding the surroundings.

...

So here we are.

The status switch was exceptionally smooth; in the blink of an eye, it was no longer the peak of the West District Church.

Instead, it was an incredibly gloomy and oppressive corridor that felt familiar.

With just a few glances, Fu Qian effortlessly confirmed that he had returned to that hospital treating Boiling Blood Syndrome, the place where he first saw the brain fork and did nighttime duty with Reginald and them.

As for whether it was mere coincidence, from Fu Qian’s perspective, it wasn’t necessarily, given the Witch clearly had some control.

Turning around, he saw that the wings that had been behind her were now completely undetectable.

Her entire appearance had reverted to the style from the first meeting in the World Within the Painting, wearing a gigantic hat on her head.

It matched his current style somewhat.

”I’ve been here; not many wards, but it seems good at treating rare diseases. If I’m not mistaken, there’s a basement with a pool at the bottom.”

Facing the glance from the Witch, Fu Qian unapologetically admired, pointing forward to introduce.

Furthermore, it’s easy to discern the Witch, much like himself, actively suppressed her ranking.

Everything made perfect sense, apart from this place seeming quite small in memory, challenging its exploration value.

”No rush to go there; let’s first look outside the hospital.”

As expected, in response to Fu Qian’s remark, the Witch had no intention of visiting the patients.

Outside the hospital?

In my memory, this nightmare seemed confined to this medical institution, right?

”Have some nightmares merged together? A chain reaction from the disappearance of laws?”

Fu Qian seemed to understand the Witch’s reason for saying ’several.’

”To be precise, nearly all known nightmares.”

The Witch gave a ’congratulations on guessing right’ expression.

”They have coalesced uniquely, forming a much larger compound.

”Temporarily uncertain whether it’s good or bad for the people inside; however, as a semblance of a whole to some extent, if something truly special exists, its influence can indeed transmit more easily to other places.”
