Facing an Ancient God for a Year

Chapter 2131: Chapter 2126: 1-008

Mrs. Harper referred to him as ”that young man,” rather than something like the Seventh Apostle.

At such a point in time, one can still sense some subtlety.

As the subject of discussion, Fu Qian naturally didn’t mind it at all, yet found the old lady’s wording intriguing.

”I don’t know, he seems rather quiet, speaks little of his affairs... After disappearing for a while and returning, he became even more silent, though certainly more polite.”

Faced with the Witch’s inquiry, Mrs. Harper’s subsequent reply once again proved this was not an illusion.

As previously understood, back when the Stars Association had wilted, some organization claimed responsibility for the death of the earliest tenant, the young man Anke.

Thus, in the accepted narrative, it was obvious that the more polite one later wasn’t the original, but the Seventh Apostle of the Great Dark Moon transformed into him, coming to save all beings.

However, Mrs. Harper’s account still clearly considered both times together.

”Oh? They shouldn’t be considered the same person, right? How can the habits be so similar?”

The Witch also clearly noticed this point, even bluntly pointing it out, the discussion growing more lively.

”The one who lived here later was said to be the Dark Moon’s most beloved Godson, wasn’t he?”

Unfortunately, she evidently had little reverence for the apostles, to the extent that her tone was overly relaxed, not ruining the conversational atmosphere, despite the wording...

”Heh, I don’t care how you view them, I’ve lived many years, seen many people.”

Indeed, Mrs. Harper’s eagerness to share was not dampened at all, casually pointing to her own eyes, not even forgetting to serve tea to the two.

”Though I don’t know what the Messenger of God should be like, I know what a person is like... I’m very certain, the young man who returned after going missing, whether more mysterious or silent, is absolutely a person.”

...

Despite being a short encounter, did he actually gain high recognition from this elder?

A human... Honestly, this had almost turned out to be a rare assessment over the many days.

Thug, Blasphemer, Morally Depraved, Destined Destroyer... Fu Qian recalled the many compliments he had received, and in reflection, somewhat understood why Mrs. Harper declined a visit.

It had been noted before that although she was advanced in age, her temper remained sharp and undiminished.

Such people tend to be more stubborn, inclined toward their own judgments in all things.

And regardless of external narratives, her perception of the Seventh Godson remained somewhat complex.

Being close certainly allows one to catch the moon first, but also easily dispels allure.

Clearly, compared to others who could easily accept the tale of the Dark Moon Apostle descending into the world, enlightening confusion and errors, Mrs. Harper’s mindset seemed more nuanced.

And disenchantment with the apostles naturally would also affect higher objects of faith.

Perhaps that is why, amidst this time when everything is thriving, she didn’t rush to a church or elsewhere, laboring in prayer for blessings.

Of course, Mrs. Harper didn’t know, in theory she had gained far greater honor—

The Dark Moon and its apostle even visited her specifically, to borrow some tea.

A human, huh?

And the Witch did not hasten to comment upon such an appraisal but rather gave Fu Qian a sidelong look with a smile, taking a sip of tea in a satisfied manner.

”So you said earlier you came because of the letter?”

At that moment, Mrs. Harper finally seemed to remember the reason the two came, asking with some doubt.

But with the context already laid out, it was apparent her mood had become much calmer.

”Indeed.”

Yet as for natural tone, Fu Qian never fell short in comparison, immediately nodding in acknowledgment.

”We’re here to express our gratitude—thank you for forwarding that letter.”

Even the next moment, he soberly lifted the porcelain cup in his hand, expressing thanks along with the hospitality.

”Thank you, was the letter written by you?”

Mrs. Harper reacted quickly indeed, briefly puzzled before suddenly realizing something, her pupils widening on the spot.

...

”To be precise, the letter passed through my hands.”

The old lady’s reaction didn’t reach the point of spilling the tea, which left Fu Qian quite pleased.

And he sincerely corrected the other party’s conjecture, treating them with sincerity.

Hmm...

Despite the surprising information, Mrs. Harper frowned in examination, her gaze shifted briefly to the Witch’s face, seemingly interpreting her as the sender and Fu Qian as running errands—but that wasn’t the focus.

”But even if that’s the case, how do you know I truly handed it over to him?”

Calming slightly, she posed a logical core question.

”Of course, he told us.”

But such a matter couldn’t possibly trouble Fu Qian, explaining calmly without changing his expression.

As he witnessed Mrs. Harper pause all her movements due to shock, he even actively took over the teacups.

”He replied to your letter... but logically, the letter should have been written to the previous Anke, right?”

Mrs. Harper quickly grasped Fu Qian’s meaning, somewhat lost in thought over his actions of pouring tea.

”This is also one of the reasons for gratitude; without you, we would lose the opportunity to communicate with the apostle in such a unique way.”

Fu Qian’s explanation remained natural.

”Moreover, in our view, he indeed seems like a human.”

Surprisingly, the Witch beside also interjected with a supplementary comment.

...

”I’m quite gratified that you came to inform me of this... letting me know there are others who share the same feeling with me.”

This time, Mrs. Harper’s silence lasted quite a while, yet eventually she took a breath, actively expressing thanks.

Often, anxiety stems from isolation, and knowing one is not the only one provides much psychological ease.

”If possible, feel free to come by at any time and visit.”

And not only leaving the identity issues of the two aside, she even proactively extended a long-term invitation.

”Sure, after all, the taste of the tea is just as he said, indeed excellent.”

Though in the rush Mrs. Harper didn’t prepare dessert, Fu Qian remained well satisfied with the tea session, agreeing readily.

Just as he mentioned to the Witch before coming, the primary intent of this visit was leisurely tea-drinking, without much purpose.

And to enjoy tea from the old lady while casually offering some guidance, it certainly counted as a courteous exchange—

Yet before the words were finished, another voice arose.

Along with it, the scene before the eyes swiftly altered.
