Facing an Ancient God for a Year

Chapter 2130: Chapter 2125: Mrs. Harper’s Tea Party

The Dark Moon Sect’s re-emergence, it’s obvious the Witch chose a different style than during its inception.

No longer sitting at the forefront as the Pontiff, but remaining more mysterious.

In this way, this location indeed becomes truly fitting—

Preserving the original faith structure as much as possible, at the center of this framework yet leaving no trace, it’s a rather excellent arrangement.

As it seems, the residents of Leytin also share the same feeling.

Walking with the Witch through the West District Church, almost no fear from the faith transition can be felt around.

This Sect’s former Holy Land seems even more bustling at this moment than before.

After the original legal system was shattered, everyone was essentially positioned at the same starting line in a short time.

Apart from the few whose Cultivation Heart might be shattered, many evidently come seeking the path.

And the Sect’s response seems quite ideal, forcibly maintaining a certain order amidst this era-level transformation.

Of course, besides the Witch’s mention of Amila, the Baroness integrating the new laws likely played a significant role.

A mechanism with a certain probability to respond to ”truth” is really crucial for maintaining faith.

For instance, along the way, Fu Qian has heard more than one person mention in conversation that the great Dark Moon resolved the threat in the mist outside the city, the crisis is over, Leytin has survived.

And the two walking within, indeed as the Witch said, did not spark special reactions.

Of course, there are always exceptions, not everyone is eagerly listening to the guidance of the Dark Moon, like the owner of this house ahead—

Making his way through the vibrant atmosphere, Fu Qian finally signaled the Witch to stop in front of a two-story brick building.

”Here?”

Glazed tiles and copper railings, although old and small, it naturally has an elegant style.

And the Witch’s surprise clearly did not disdain the venue, rather, she seemed to have a certain notion about this place.

”Yes, Mrs. Harper’s tea, I think it’s still pretty good.”

Fu Qian nodded, already stepping forward to knock on the door for confirmation.

Crack!

No need to knock a second time; the door was opened from the inside, an elderly woman with silver-like white hair peeped out, it was indeed the stern Mrs. Harper.

”I think the police have clearly informed that this place refuses visitation.”

This time, even more serious, she almost coldly uttered upon opening the door.

...

According to the Witch’s previous remark, this place was transformed into a pilgrimage site, hence Mrs. Harper did not need to rent out rooms to live, so she remarkably abandoned this piece of intangible cultural heritage?

A concise remark instantly helped Fu Qian understand why this place was so tranquil, and added a bit more curiosity.

Additionally, the Witch’s reaction seemed to subtly explain one thing, that she had previously visited this place as well.

”We are not here to visit.”

Although the elderly woman’s attitude was resolute, seemingly unable to bear disturbance, Fu Qian’s professional manner remained.

”Regretfully, I also do not entertain inquiries.”

Unfortunately, it seemed someone had used similar rhetoric earlier, the elderly woman’s somewhat cloudy eyes swept over, responding coldly and briskly.

”We indeed came to inquire, about a letter with no sender, madam, have you seen it?”

This time, Fu Qian did not deny his intention and gestured with his hand.

He was naturally referring to the letter delivered from the warehouse, the transferor being the person right before them.

Given the convoluted process, it was likely quite impressive.

”...Who are you?”

As expected, the elderly woman’s tough and prideful nature did not allow her to outright deny.

After a slight hesitation, she finally did not close the door but used a question to tacitly acknowledge.

”Can we discuss inside? Please trust that we mean no harm.”

Fu Qian chose to play a mysterious card, smiling gently.

”Not long ago, I just heard your tea tastes great.”

...

”Young people’s tastes, I’m increasingly unable to grasp them.”

After a brief exchange, Fu Qian and his companion were finally invited into the familiar living room.

And it seemed, Mrs. Harper indeed made tea right away, perhaps to calm her emotions.

Even when serving, she expressed skepticism towards Fu Qian’s remarks.

”Not only, sometimes I myself can’t even understand myself.”

Facing such a statement, Fu Qian remained unfazed, even taking up a cup to sip.

Indeed still a familiar feeling, no wonder people say memory has a flavor.

”Try it.”

Feeling appreciative, Fu Qian turned to signal the Witch.

”Hmm, a different taste, indeed not the same... but indeed quite good.”

Successfully enjoying tea with the Knight’s help, the Witch was quite engaged.

After a serious savoring, she finally nodded in approval.

”Glad you like it... Frankly speaking, my tastes weren’t this way when I was young, they gradually changed to the present.”

And it proved, the Witch may have interrupted the Transcendent influence of gazing upon her visage, but she easily gained more goodwill nonetheless.

Facing her praise, Mrs. Harper not only softened her gaze slightly but seemingly forgot Fu Qian had yet to answer her question, already reminiscing about youth.

The Pontiff is truly the Pontiff!

Such development left even Fu Qian feeling amazed.

Taking the topic of faith as a stepping stone, the effect was unquestionably as imagined.

Yet theoretically, upon entering, explanations ought to be somewhat given.

Under the Pontiff’s charm, this step seemingly skipped, smoothly transitioning into a delightful tea session.

”The young man living here before did somewhat resemble you, liked this flavor... but his eating habits were somewhat unhealthy, only liked sweets.”

Mrs. Harper by now demonstrated a distinct willingness to chat, sharing more.

...

Feeling despite many visitors lately, due to overly simple intentions, they instead left the elderly woman suppressed.

Empathetic to this mindset, Fu Qian sipped tea while playing the role of a good listener, reminiscent almost of a nursing home volunteer.

Such a lively domestic scene, made the intentionally low-profile Witch seem rather unconcerned.

Undoubtedly, she knew who the ”previous tenant” was, listening to the Knight’s story from such a perspective seemed intriguing.

With a sidelong glance at Fu Qian, it was almost like overhearing gossip at a break room.

”Always eating sweets? Is there a special reason for that?”

Beyond that, at the next moment, she even ventured to guess the reasons behind the Knight’s past eating habits.
