Facing an Ancient God for a Year

Chapter 2119: Chapter 2114: Sea of Origin

”I actually quite like it.”

Although Fu Qian described the Fire of Madness as being forced into this manual form, the Witch seemed to appreciate his creativity.

”Additionally, if it controls the destruction of ’self,’ that would be very interesting — try it on that stone monument.”

But she only briefly expressed her aesthetic view and quickly returned to business, signaling Fu Qian to use the fire to burn something else.

Oh?

Although the request was a bit peculiar, Fu Qian immediately complied.

The Witch indicated a stone monument of the same size as the one on the giant’s back earlier, except a piece was missing from the top.

After a glance, Fu Qian lifted the golden flame flower in his hand and blew gently.

The latter immediately scattered like a dandelion with a puff of air, yet remained cohesive along the way.

Floating and drifting down accurately onto the target, the golden arc of light finally exploded with a roar.

A surprising scene occurred — on the surface and even within what appeared to be a lifeless stone monument, an indescribable distortion rapidly appeared—

Yet it could still be described; it was much like the invisible worm from before.

Even after a brief struggle, it completely dissolved into nothingness.

”Not only does it truly possess the concept of a creature, but it’s also on a spiritual level.”

Observing the now vacant position of the stone monument, Fu Qian casually reached a conclusion.

Additionally, it was evident that the effect was limited solely to the monument itself, without affecting the surroundings whatsoever.

Such precise control once again highlighted that the monument was an ”individual.”

”I think so too; even if its nature is classified as a dream, some rules must still be followed. They aren’t just converted from living creatures; they’re even in a very special form.”

The Witch quickly explained her intention for having Fu Qian conduct this test.

”The reason I had you do this is because I sensed the influence that flame brings, not just on that worm, but the entire Nightmare responds to it uniquely.”

”I estimate you don’t even need a high ranking; with this method, you could easily cause the dream to collapse.”

An attack not only against the Ghost Worm but the entire Nightmare?

”So the origin of this Nightmare is related to the concept of the Spirit World and even the self?”

Faced with the Witch’s remarks, Fu Qian nodded slightly and effortlessly made a guess.

...

Rewards often appear in unexpected ways.

What was originally intended as a way for the Witch to observe her situation turned out to first reveal a glimpse into the nature of the Nightmare.

Based on the information previously gathered, the barrier of this world shattered, leading to Doomsday at least several hundred years ago.

Yet, the ”Nightmares” that have persisted until now, even if not as vast or stable as Rielertin, surely aren’t simple in origin.

So now it appears, this one is especially related to the Spirit World—or rather, the Mental World.

Considering the word ”self,” Fu Qian quickly thought of a concept, something he had recently encountered.

In the Bookstore World, there is an aggregation of will—possibly from intelligent life—that even made Su Gao feel comfortingly warm in the Mental World.

And it is even connected to many Extraordinary locations, including the Unseen Hillock and the Burial Ground of Gods... so what about this world?

Regardless, there must be intelligent life, right? And it’s evident that everyone also dreams.

”I had similar thoughts just now, but the Spirit World depends on how it’s defined.”

Fu Qian’s conjecture brought the Witch into deep contemplation.

”Although in my understanding, extraordinary abilities in the mental realm are not uncommon in this world, and the Superior Beings often use dreams to achieve certain influences, the boundaries of this concept aren’t clear overall.”

”So what lies in the depths of the dream?”

In response to the Witch’s statement, Fu Qian instantly posed a condition.

”From birth until now, have you ever attempted to traverse a dream and thereby touch some special Extraordinary places?”

...

In any case, this person should still have experienced more years than I have.

Seeing the Witch frown slightly, seemingly lost in memories, Fu Qian didn’t disturb her.

Decisively stopping his voice, he continued walking over the red sand.

Unsurprisingly, the Witch followed, maintaining the noble posture of having the Knight pave the way ahead.

So was that worm rolling around here?

Soon, the winding path approached its end, and as Fu Qian first entered a new space, the first thing he saw was the undulating red sand.

Though it’s a standard hexagonal hall, the floor was uneven, with one side higher than the other.

The ramp emerging from the lowest point of the floor ended at the lowest position, while the hall’s only exit was a door on the opposite wall, at the highest point, easily creating an atmosphere of continued ascent.

Yet at this moment, the disparity was smoothed out significantly by the thick red sand.

Almost half the hall was covered, with numerous stone monuments buried so deep that only traces remained visible, clearly indicating their considerable depth.

”No, I carefully thought about your question earlier. On one hand, I’m not skilled in dream-related fields, but I have utilized some things to traverse them, though I haven’t encountered anything too special, at most some hidden Extraordinary creatures.”

And during Fu Qian’s observation, the Witch who caught up had apparently finished her recollection.

”A black sea then? The spirit coupled together in a special way.”

Despite the slightly pessimistic news, Fu Qian didn’t mind and continued to confirm.

”No.”

The Witch continued to shake her head.

”The depths of the dream are indeed bizarre, and even human thoughts intersect in various abstract ways, but there’s no sea... whether in the World Within the Painting or the recent recreation of Leytin.”

...

Is there no sea anywhere?

Could it be that my physique, rejected by the Mental World, has reached this conceptual level?

I had initially wondered if there might be a chance to borrow the Witch’s strength to attempt walking within the mental ocean of this world, yet now it appears I can’t even find it?

Faced with the Witch’s statement, Fu Qian was filled with emotion.

”The reason I asked is because in the world just now, I encountered that thing more than once.”

Of course, this didn’t stop him from casually describing his multiple second-class citizen experiences and the conclusions he had tested.

”Understood, so you’re also searching for the sea?”

Following a bout of generous sharing, even before the Witch could comment, a rather sharp voice suddenly rang out from above.

Looking up, he saw a face identical to the giant’s before, gazing down from above.
