Facing an Ancient God for a Year

Chapter 2137: Chapter 2132: Confinement (6)

The voice of the conversation with Huck was slightly louder than before, enough for the counter to hear clearly.

In addition, the direction Fu Qian was looking at with his eyes really made it easy for people to be unclear about whom he was speaking to.

For example, Jane, who seemed to be expecting him to say something, obviously misunderstood something, and was as dumbstruck as a wooden chicken.

”Pink... But here, you better not expect such expenses to be reimbursed.

”Also, don’t blame me for not warning you. Rachel’s husband is strong and very sensitive.”

In contrast, Mr. Huck Sr. was the other extreme.

Faced with such a bizarre scenario, he merely glanced along Fu Qian’s line of sight and actually gave an answer.

”Then I’m not surprised—so what color flowers does Tia like?”

With a slight nod, indicating he understood the potential risks in his previous thoughts, Fu Qian really changed the question.

And during this process, his gaze was still fixed on Jane.

”Tia...”

Mr. Huck Sr. finally showed a bit of change in expression this time, seemingly not expecting Fu Qian to still actively mention the name after the previous encounter.

”She carries no risk, but unfortunately, I don’t know what her favorite color is.”

It’s hard to say how many times Huck scrutinized his partner like this, his eyes seemed full of bewilderment and surprise at the young man.

”So why not ask me what color I like?”

And in this increasingly bizarre conversation, it was waitress Jane who stiffly walked past Fu Qian, and ”incidentally” cracked a still stiffer joke.

”Don’t ask.”

Yet Fu Qian took this as a serious choice question, shaking his head.

...

Anyone faced with such a situation would probably swear very harshly.

At least before Jane could react, looking at the expressions of store manager Maggie and Mr. Huck Sr., that’s likely what they were thinking.

Such unfriendly behavior had vaguely crossed the line of a joke, nearing mockery.

”...Okay.”

However, a shocking thing happened; Jane, whose words and actions had shown bravado, after a not-so-long silence, did not impulsively grab the milk and splash it over. Instead, she lowered her head and accepted the answer quietly.

And obviously unwilling to engage in any more exchanges, the next moment she maintained her posture and slipped into the kitchen.

Seems a bit off indeed...

Yet despite this, it didn’t hinder Fu Qian from staring at the face as white as if she’d seen a ghost, silently reaching a conclusion.

Not to such a wicked extent as to stimulate a young person’s nerves as breakfast entertainment.

The stimulation was intentional, but for a valid purpose.

There was a contradiction mentioned earlier, that Jane seemed to have a minor slip-up delivering the meal, a mistake that a person in a good state should not have made.

Therefore, Fu Qian chose to apply a bit of stimulation, using nonsensical questions and the most nerve-wracking answers to find emotional flaws.

The fact proved that Jane’s state didn’t seem so good, the just now presence couldn’t be summed up by anger or loss.

With Fu Qian’s experience of causing trouble, she seemed to be frightened.

Frightened of what? Still in front of a familiar policeman?

Even though his behavior is depraved, should it not be viewed with such malice, right?

So, could it not be aimed at him but triggered a memory, perhaps recalling the person who originally would have drunk this milk?

Not irresponsibly guessing, but with comparisons.

Still recall just now at his place, when Tina reminisced how she ran there, at one point also had an expression like she’d seen a ghost.

Interesting, this desolate place is indeed not as calmer as its surface.

With a slight stimulation, successfully added a stroke of darkness to this sunny morning, Fu Qian also reaped a small reward.

Certainly, not without side effects, while Huck was silent, store manager Maggie’s look was already somewhat discontent, clearly not wishing the temporary employee to lose their enthusiasm as soon as the business opened.

However, she seemed overly worried. Jane staggered past without receiving another round of bombardment and quickly made lively sounds from the kitchen.

Crash——

The silence made it particularly piercing, clearly, some tableware was smashed.

Even the crispness of the sound didn’t quite resemble free fall but being thrown to the ground.

While the quiet quickly returns, the air still seemed to carry resonating anger.

Young people indeed are full of vigor; did she recover so quickly?

Foremost, Fu Qian’s heart maintained no panic.

Hadn’t heard that saying before, don’t beat up a customer without cause—or wait, there seems to be a cause, with provocation first.

Admitting his actions weren’t shielded by that saying, Fu Qian even heard footsteps from the kitchen.

And seemingly to enhance the atmosphere, at some point the lighting in the restaurant dimmed, as if someone pulled the newly risen Sun back under the covers.

The curtains were drawn... Through peripheral observation, Fu Qian quickly explained the change with a simpler cause.

Nonetheless, it leads to another question: Who drew the curtains?

The restaurant’s walls had three full windows, all covered with heavy curtains simultaneously, not showing a crack.

Meanwhile, sitting opposite, Mr. Huck Sr. suddenly disappeared.

Tableware and food remained, proving someone had once sat there.

However, the contents within the transparent glass exhibited a peculiar crimson sheen in the dimness; if it’s milk indeed, capillaries must’ve burst during squeezing.

As for his own, Fu Qian looked down at his front.

The previously not cold enough cup now seemed rapidly frozen under severe cold, visible with swift flocculated layers.

The source of severe cold—

”I heard it, the sound of things being smashed... Where should I clean up?”

The next moment the voice was already sounding by his side; looking up, he saw waitress Jane return with cleaning tools in hand, looking poised to tidy up.

Her tone and demeanor were entirely normal, not a trace of the previous anger was visible.

However, the chill seemingly freezing everything was emanating from her, to the extent that icy mist seemed to envelope her surroundings.

This wasn’t the most conspicuous, yet amid the fairy-like aura, Jane’s body was filled with fine cuts, even therein frozen into jade-like red.

As if the sound from the kitchen earlier was her smashing herself, only to patch up and come out now.

”Did you see it?”

In a blink, the breakfast venue recommended by Huck was already akin to a Ghost Realm, and amid the dimness, shadows drifted, Jane stood beside the table, looking down.
