Facing an Ancient God for a Year

Chapter 2108: Chapter 2103: Seeking Answers

Just now, I experienced the feeling of being amidst ruins on the Other Shore, and in the blink of an eye, I’ve tasted the opposite here in the Leytin Ruins.

When I traveled with the witch back then, my comment on this place was a silent dead realm bathed in warm sunlight.

It seemed sunny, but was actually enduring the ravages of vast, twisting forces.

But now it’s clearly different, the surroundings are even more gloomy, looking around fills one with added depression.

It’s as if the mist that once lingered on the outskirts of Leytin has finally poured in here.

Fu Qian naturally wouldn’t think this is merely a change in climate.

”The previous commotion was indeed a bit loud, though the situation isn’t as exaggerated.

”It’s not the influence from the stars, but merely a reaction from a lingering power in this world, I even know who it is.”

The reliability of the knight is truly comforting, but after confirmation from the witch, it also indicates the situation isn’t so dire.

”Get rid of it?”

However, Fu Qian’s suggestion remains straightforward and ruthless.

”The death of such things tends to attract attention, although this place may have no value to the former destroyers.”

The witch’s reaction was equally exaggerated, pondering not about the ability to eliminate the problem but the subsequent hidden dangers.

”Then kill it and raise it as a puppet? This way, there’s a chance of avoiding more trouble later.”

Fu Qian indicates it’s not a hindrance, confirming whether the witch has some inhumane means.

”That’s not a major issue, handling it this way is indeed better, just in time while you’re free...”

The witch quickly agreed with Fu Qian’s viewpoint, and a bloody plan swiftly took shape.

”But there’s no hurry, let’s take care of the main task first.”

As she spoke, she was already pulling Fu Qian, heading towards a painting they had worked on together.

...

”It still looks more pleasing here.”

In the blink of an eye, they were already in the former Church of the Dark Moon.

Even though the visibility was worse than outside, Fu Qian, who had visited for an audience many times, had no hesitation in giving praise as he walked.

As for why the witch, despite being able to freely control the landing spot, chose not to directly locate to the studio but instead added a detour through the hall—Fu Qian’s gaze fell on a corner of the opulent seat, staring at an obviously malfunctioning pocket watch.

”Remember?”

Considering the knight’s inspiration was all lost, the witch who had proactively brought him in had already loosened her grip, signaling towards Fu Qian’s discovery.

”Remember, it was brought back here by you? Not too bad.”

Facing the smiling witch, Fu Qian nodded, naturally recognizing it as the ”Baroness.”

During the first time arriving in this world on a task, the Baroness stole this pocket watch to consume the blood inside for increased success rate in action.

And because of the near-death state at the end, a thread of will fused with the pocket watch, causing it to awaken with certain human-like traits when Leytin reappeared from history after the ”Nightmare.”

Unfortunately, soon after Leytin fell back as part of the painting, the final fate of the pocket watch was being picked up by the witch, who placed it here.

The ups and downs truly could write a tome akin to the Tale of Stones—though the watch already lacked words, replaced by still undried bloodstains.

Fu Qian walked to the seat, pondering seriously over whether this situation counts as time and circumstances altering.

”Let’s go, First Apostle of the Dark Moon.”

The witch seemed uninterested in offering further introductions, nor in taking up the pocket watch, smiling as she signaled for continuation.

...

”Does it look familiar here?”

Taking the familiar route, in the blink of an eye, the two had already arrived at the hidden studio, then smoothly entered Leytin’s painting world.

This time the witch positioned them with precision, as their reappearance found them within another round hall.

The scene outside the window revealed this to be the top of a rather tall building.

”Of course, I once displayed a vampire’s heart here.”

Watching the witch step forward and sit on the seat facing the entrance, Fu Qian naturally pointed beside her.

Indeed, it was the pinnacle of the Western Cathedral of the Celestial Sphere Cult, the former noble gathering place for the Vampire Clan.

Unfortunately, not only were those favored ones gone, but even the layout had changed—

Most of the seats surrounding the circle were cleared, except for the obvious main seat beneath the witch, leaving only one beside it.

And as Fu Qian answered, he had already sat at the position of extreme favor.

”Is it Saphar? You’ve actually done a good deed for the Bloodline Clan.

”Otherwise, when such problems occurred with the Stars Association, their reaction might not have been as rational as now.”

After escaping, the witch apparently detailed the knight’s hurricane rescue experience, swiftly mentioning a name.

”It can be imagined, given that one’s personality couldn’t endure such a fall, so who’s actually leading them now?”

With a slight nod, Fu Qian worthily accepted the Pontiff’s praise.

...

It’s indeed not difficult to deduce, as they were originally a bunch of prideful individuals. If they still retained the most proud leader, encountering sudden changes almost certainly leads to extreme actions.

The consequent effects, apart from ensuring the complete fall of these old relics from a prior dynasty, almost certainly wouldn’t yield other outcomes.

Fortunately, before the Dark Moon era arrived, the extreme leader fell first, even assisted by the Dark Moon’s First Apostle, which hugely hit their self-esteem.

”Most are hiding in shadows, truly distancing themselves from the populace like legends say, though some are already adapting to the new circumstances.”

The witch clearly kept an eye on the current state of the Bloodline Clan.

”After all, with a long experience of the Stars Association’s favor, it’s easier to gain insights when abandoning prejudices. Now the one with substantial weight when speaking is a tall woman, you should remember?”

”Bally?”

Having specifically visited at night, Fu Qian easily thought of someone fitting the description.

”Correct... want to know what they’ve realized?”

The witch seemed somewhat pleased with how well the knight recalled matters here, offering a mischievous smile next moment.

”Very curious.”

Fu Qian was naturally enthusiastic.

”Look... what appearance does First Apostle Herbert of the Dark Moon have?”

The witch had already raised both hands, made a special gesture, and muttered words simultaneously.

[Tall and valiant, wearing ornate armor, enveloped by coldness and moonlight]

A brilliant flash swept past the surroundings, and the next moment, text appeared on the wall beside responding to her question.

Quite an intriguing situation... Just saying, it won’t merely be about visiting old acquaintances, is this securing the Baroness a position within the Dark Moon Law?

Answerer? Respondent?

Faced with this peculiar scene, Fu Qian wasn’t unable to comprehend but still marveled at the Pontiff’s imagination.
