Divine Emperor of Death

Chapter 5329: Crashing At Zenova’s

In Zenova’s luxurious palace, Evelynn sat on a chair, sipping tea.

On the other side sat Zenova, her gaze on Evelynn. There were also others, like Isabella and a few others sprawled on the sofa and other cushion surfaces. They lazed around, making themselves comfortable at her home.

Zenova couldn’t understand. Why had they all crashed here?

Was she too accommodating?

They came here and then discussed how bad it felt losing the selection, mulling and crying about it as they went to sleep together, waiting until Davis could come out. They imagined it was going to take a few days. Others such as Mingzhi, Iesha, and a few others had gone to rearrange the treasures in the Treasury while some had gone to do their own thing.

Only Evelynn and Zenova remained awake, each time taking tiny sips of tea as though to keep themselves awake amidst the drowsy and peaceful atmosphere.

They gazed at each other, reminded of the bet they had made back then before Evelynn had gone to the Six-Headed Hydra Upper Realm.

[

”I’m not convinced.”

Zenova said with a stern expression, ”I should also be heading together with him. However, I’m currently in this shape, as you can see. I absolutely cannot put myself in harm’s way for the sake of our child.”

”I understand.” Evelynn nodded, not saying much.

She could also use Zenova’s help in the Six-Headed Hydra Upper Realm, but what could they do since she had gotten pregnant? Even if Zenova wanted to escape, they were planning on imprisoning her anyway. They would never allow her to endanger the child or even kidnap the child, for that matter.

”Still, I’m not convinced.” Zenova harrumphed, ”It should be our first adventure together where we join hands with our heart and soul and overcome struggles together, deepening our bond, becoming husband and wife, Emperor and... Empress.”

She raised her hand and clenched her fist, closing her eyes with a vivid emotion on her face.

Evelynn blinked, not expecting Zenova to take this inability to heart. She was about to console her instinctively as a fellow woman who went through pregnancy, but knew such emotional words wouldn’t move Zenova.

Hence, her lips moved, her voice echoing coldly, ”We’re not going on an adventure. It’s a life and death mission.”

”Doesn’t matter, as it’s the same for me.” Zenova opened her eyes and answered as though it was a matter of fact, ”I have always headed out thinking I would die because I have always been alone.”

”...”

”...” Zenova’s gaze shimmered as she touched her belly, ”But this, wanting to protect something no matter what, even at the cost of my life. That’s a first for me.”

She smiled ever so lightly as she caressed her belly.

Evelynn also couldn’t help but smile, a bit annoyed but happy that Zenova was able to feel this emotion. Otherwise, she would be so far from being able to relate to them, and as a result, might be ostracized. After all, if she couldn’t even care for her child, who was she going to care for? Even if she said she would protect Davis, would they believe her and send her off with him?

There were countless immortal couples who went on adventures but ended up showing their true face when danger struck.

They knew for a fact that Davis wouldn’t abandon them, but what about Zenova?

Would she abandon Davis?

They’d like to believe she wouldn’t, but that was still a hazy veil for them to unravel. But if they were to question her about that, then they would have to ask every woman he had accepted as his wives that question. It was hard to figure when push came to shove if they would still lay their lives for him, but Evelynn personally believed everyone would do so since she felt Davis wouldn’t have accepted them otherwise.

Even if they wouldn’t do it in the beginning, by now, she knew as though it was fact that they would lay down their lives for him.

It was Zenova who she was unsure about. After all, she had lived alone as a Divergent without any power to back her, and survival was instinct to her. All she had were subordinates that were more comparable to slaves than loyalists. It was hard to imagine such a person would suddenly choose to sacrifice their life even if the other side was their spouse.

Unlike traditional mortal morality, Zenova exuded an immortal sense of morality and values.

Hence, Evelynn was also very curious about her as she realized she hadn’t asked something yet.

”Why did you fall for Davis, your beloved Emperor?” Her voice turned seductive as she asked in a teasing voice.

”...”

Zenova’s gaze flickered as she came out of her reverie.

She gazed at Evelynn with her black eyes that shone crimson, ”Is that even a question? Taking out the romantic aspects, I fell for him because I wholeheartedly think he’s too big of a man for me, for any of us.”

”...” Evelynn blinked.

Zenova continued after a slight pause, ”His potential in cultivation is endless if he doesn’t die, but he prefers to encumber himself with people like us, people with less potential in the myriad realms. You and I could both see where our potential ends if we weren’t with him. Am I wrong? I didn’t even know it was possible to go beyond a certain level of prowess. It should be the same for you, or do you consider yourself to be capable of reaching beyond-”

”I don’t.” Evelynn’s expression churned, ”I have told you before when you rescued me after we were evicted from the First Haven World. I wouldn’t have even dreamed of entering the Fifth Stage of the Mortal Cultivation Realm, much less accumulate to my current accomplishments. You don’t need to remind me to understand that he’s too big a person. Even if he had been born a trash at that time, his status alone as the Loret Empire’s Crown Prince would’ve gotten him thousands of women. Considering the Loret Family was decimated at that time, who would bark at him if he planned to sire thousands of children?”

Her hands quivered, her emotions surfacing from the depths, ”But what he wants is a loving and stable environment. He won’t get that in that kind of environment, especially not in the environment you’re stating where you want him to have ten thousand concubines. Furthermore, I have told him that he could have a hundred women in the harem, but if he doesn’t want that many, how is it my fault?”

She asked in a high-pitched tone, barely away from screaming at Zenova.

It was as though she had snapped a bit, making Zenova blink.
