Divine Emperor of Death

Chapter 5323: Issue With Starlight Devouring Veins

In a few seconds, the pale face of Fairy Qiyra Darkstar returned to a rosy complexion, and the painful expression receded.

Davis still held Fairy Qiyra’s wrist as he monitored her pulse. He hadn’t had the time to absorb Saint Riyal Mendez’s Divine Technique, but he sure had the time to go through the physician arts from the basic pulse reading to the widely acclaimed advanced acupuncture arts, which greatly enhanced his skill in healing arts.

Right now, he was able to see all kinds of energy flow in Fairy Qiyra Darkstar, able to differentiate what’s innate and foreign, what’s chaotic and calm.

After minutes of silence, they nudged Davis for answers as they saw his solemn complexion.

Davis came out of his reverie and gazed at Fairy Qiyra.

She seemed to be still unconscious, making him speak with a complicated gaze.

”Due to a great lack of astral essence, Fairy Qiyra’s Starlight Devouring Veins Physique is forcefully trying to shut down her body and soul for hibernation. However, it still needs astral essence, but Fairy Qiyra isn’t taking astral essence anymore because I assume the physique has lost the ability to refine it after expending all its efforts earlier to transport us halfway across the Upper Realms. In this case, any astral energy she brings in would remain foreign and therefore would be considered excess or waste, which causes an adverse reaction, causing it to spit it out, but that is called reverse circulation, which is dangerous.”

”...”

Laphria looked so worried. She exchanged glances with Fairy Glacia before hurriedly asking, ”Then what can we do?”

Davis responded with a light smile.

”Fortunately, my life energy gave a sip of water to a parched and dried tree. I stopped her physique, her Starlight Devouring Veins, from cracking from a reverse circulation attempt when it tried to return astral energy to the stars in an attempt to connect to the stars. In other words, the stars were devouring her. Quite-”

Davis stopped himself from saying ironic as he paused and continued, ”-vicious. It’s as though the stars are alive. I wonder what kind of stars she has formed a link with. Is one of them a Divergent Star?”

He panned his gaze at the others.

Fairy Glacia Frigidveil and the others shook their heads.

How would they know the cultivation secrets of their fellow disciples? They all cultivated using different cultivation manuals anyway, and some of them could be semi-unique, like Fairy Qiyra Darkstar, who cultivated both immortal energy and astral energy.

”So we’re out of danger?” Laphria didn’t understand much but asked excitedly.

Davis pursed his lips before shaking his head.

”I only gave a sip of water, and this method wouldn’t be viable after using it a number of times. In other words, it will flare up again, and when it does, it will be difficult to stop using my life energy alone. We need to restore her ability to refine astral essence in greater amounts somehow.”

”Then senior sister Qiyra should be able to deal with it once she wakes up.”

”Hopefully.” Davis nodded before pointing at a finger, ”However, the cure itself is very simple.”

Everyone followed his gaze and saw him point at Fairy Qiyra’s powerful treasure.

They were shocked.

”It’s the broken ring.” Davis explained, ”Her cultivation is mostly suppressed, so even if her physique wants to recover from the brink of exhaustion, it couldn’t. It’s like a person is trapped under a falling boulder for a long time, but they couldn’t muster their full strength anymore because the muscles are already stretched to the limits.”

Everyone immediately understood, but Fairy Glacia noticed the issue.

”But... if we take that off, then-”

”Yes, she’d be kicked out into the great void. But if we don’t, her physique will start collapsing again.” Davis nodded with a gentle sigh.

”What can we do then?” Fairy Wix asked solemnly.

”...”

Davis went silent.

He was out of options other than to use Fallen Heaven for all-cure abilities, but if he did that, other problems would surely arise like a tidal wave. He might be quickly found by the Celestial Transcendent and the other people who were searching for him as well.

As he was still trying to think of a solution, Fairy Glacia spoke.

”Even if master was here, it’s unknown if she would be able to restore senior sister Qiyra’s health since we’re dealing with a high-grade physique. You’re expecting too much of him, junior sister.”

”I’m sorry.”

Laphria cast Davis an apologetic smile, but Davis waved his hand, indicating that it wasn’t necessary.

”I’m not a Saint level master, as I just brute-force heal with life energy and know a few unorthodox evolution techniques, but it isn’t too late to learn. We’ll have to wait until Fairy Qiyra wakes up and explains to me about her physique in detail. I will need her help if I am to find a solution for this issue.”

Fairy Glacia narrowed her eyes with a smile that wasn’t a smile, ”I’m afraid senior sister wouldn’t want you here. She’s too stubborn and cares about face. I don’t think she will cooperate.”

”True. She will tell me to leave, but I can handle it. She has berated me so many times. It’s not new.”

”In that case, I will depend on you.”

Fairy Glacia nodded, her smile turning warm.

Davis awkwardly chuckled.

He could tell Fairy Glacia wanted to punch Fairy Qiyra for hiding the strain that the astral travel had taken on her body and physique. But the fault was also theirs, so Fairy Glacia was furious at herself.

There was no easy way out. How can it be so easy to travel with many Peak Exalts, a bunch of replicas, and World Hegemon Grade Treasures in tow?

They knew it would be heavy, but had not imagined it would put Fairy Qiyra in a state like this.

It was all caused by the broken ring, the replica of the Necklace of Light and Darkness, that suppressed her cultivation base from circulating properly.

Davis stood up, cupping his hands before exiting the chamber.

He talked with Jaiyan and Karyot, informing them of a few things about the issue and what he needed from them. Then he found himself a secluded chamber and began going through Saint Riyal Mendez’s memories, going through the elite medicinal knowledge and the Divine Technique.

As for his main body, Davis seemed to have arrived at his chamber.

The doors swung open, and a woman in an elegant black-and-white luxurious robe, adorned with jade ornaments and a phoenix hairpin, walked in. She looked absolutely gorgeous as she wore makeup befitting the class of an Empress.

”Dalila...”

Davis’s brows rose. He responded with some surprise as he stood up from the bed, walking over to invite her in.
