Divine Emperor of Death

Chapter 5100 Drinking Wine Under Impersonation

City Lord Kain didnʼt know about the Corrupted Celestial Venom Tribe that existed in this realm.

Apparently, they were secluded, accessible only to a select few poison apothecaries and alchemists, until the desolate era seemed to force them out.

Still, City Lord Kain did his homework and managed to learn about most major powers in the Six-Headed Hydra Upper Realm, including big shots in the High-Level Primarch Stage and influential young masters in the Empyrean Stage. Neither could be easily offended.

For example, the crown prince of the Abyssal Radiance Empireʼs status was so high that even the well-off members of the Hexadra Clan had to give respect to him.

Why? He heard the Abyssal Radiance Empire also shared half the bloodline of the Six-Headed Hydra. Hence, they could be said to be branches of the same clan, but one was a clan power with a Patriarch- the Realm Master, and the other was an empire with an Emperor.

The intricacies were hard to understand, so City Lord Kain didnʼt bother about it, and neither did Davis.

Regardless, these two powers shared a common ancestry and werenʼt really at each otherʼs throats, although they were competitive.

City Lord Davis stood up and respectfully cupped his hands, ”Ah, I really wasnʼt aware I was dealing with such influential people. Forgive my previous rudeness. I am Kain Waterland, also known as the City Lord of the Eighth Bastion City. I wonʼt be serving the Hundred Bloom Vitality Nectar, so forget it.”

”…”

Have they met anyone being rude right after saying they wonʼt be rude?

”Haha,” Saint Riyal Mendez chuckled, ”No need, no need. That was a gift to City Lord Kain. You should enjoy it with your spouses if you know what I mean.”

”Saint understands me well.”

City Lord Davis took the cup of wine that a maid poured and extended the gesture to them.

The fragrance of aged spirit wine instantly spread through the hall. It carried a mellow aroma mixed with faint spiritual herbs and lingering fire essence, clearly an expensive brew that had been preserved for many years.

”Hoho, isnʼt this our Galefire Fairy Essence Wine?” Galehorn Kingdomʼs King looked intrigued.

City Lord Davis smiled warmly, ”Indeed. This bottle was specially obtained from the Galehorn Kingdomʼs Royal Treasury. Even I was reluctant to drink it. Since we have guests today, it is only fitting that someone from the source enjoys it first.”

”Good, good.” Galehorn Kingdomʼs King extended the cup in a warm gesture.

The City Lordʼs entourage also took the cup of wine in front of them, and all drank together.

A fiery taste filled their mouths before it turned mellow like a fairy kissing them, making them suck in a cold breath. A feeling of intoxication came over them before it disappeared, leaving their mouths with a fresh aftertaste.

”How lovely…” Saint Riyal Mendez praised.

Davis also nodded.

Whether he liked wine or not, he was City Lord Kain at the moment, so he should act like it as much as he could. He must say that the wine wasnʼt bad, as it tasted extremely good, but it was precisely why it was so good that he must stay away from it. As a man with many wives, he possible couldnʼt lose his reason by getting drunk and risking it all.

”Itʼs always lovely, reminds me of old flames…” The Galehorn Kingdomʼs King shook her head with a sigh, appearing to have escaped to his own world.

The others also seemingly wanted to say something, but were in their own thoughts.

Davis didnʼt expect everyone to act profoundly after getting slightly drunk. In any case, he prompted them.

”Saint Riyal, you have unexpectedly shown up with a big entourage. There must be a reason I am not aware of.”

”Yes,” Saint Riyal Mendez nodded, ”Naturally, I have established a loose alliance with the Abyssal Radiance Empire and the other major powers here, so I want a place that I could call my foothold. Itʼs a minor part of the reason why Iʼm going around the Bastion Cities and asking the City Lords for support. I wonder if City Lord Kain is willing to support us in this endeavor?”

City Lord Davis leaned back and put his leg over the other, ”Of course. Take, take all the land you want in my city.”

”Really?” Saint Riyal Mendez raised his brows, ”Do you mean the outer city districts?”

”No, Iʼm willing to offer half the core city districts to you as long as you can afford taxes after the first thousand years.”

”…”

For a moment, the hall turned silent in disbelief.

Half the core city districts? No taxes for a thousand years? Did this City Lord know what he was saying?

Although the cities were under the control of the City Lords, the one who was truly in control was the Hexadra Clan. If they said no, who could change it?

Besides, the Primarchs from the other powers looked at the Saint with some doubt.

Everyone knew Saint Riyal Mendez had the backing of the Hexadra Clan, so why could he not obtain a foothold here and had come here instead by himself?

The initial answer they arrived at was that the Hexadra Clan didnʼt want Saint Riyal Mendez to grow beyond them, so they had begun suppressing him in elusive ways, so the Saint decided to move here and begin building his influence so he could one day break out from the shackles of the Hexadra Clan. This was in line with how the Hexadra Clan dealt with talented geniuses whom they couldnʼt handle or disliked.

However, this didnʼt seem like the only reason for Saint to come here, but they couldnʼt place their fingers around the reason either, as they felt like they were missing some information.

On the other hand, Davis didnʼt bother with explaining himself. Why should he bother? This wasnʼt his city anyway. Chances are that it was going to get ruined if he got exposed, so he offered them half the core city. He had even wanted to offer the entire city just to get things going faster, but it would obviously be exaggerated, so he started with a low point and went even lower.

”I see. I may not be able to keep my word on half of the core city because of interference. Alright, ten percent of the core city districts. How about it?”

”Fifty percent!” Saint Riyal Mendezʼs brows raised, ”Fifty percent sounded good…”

”Uhm, how about this?” City Lord Davis pondered, ”Twenty percent…”

”Forty… forty sounds a bit good.”

”Only a bit? Alright, how about thirty?”

”Thirty!? It canʼt go any lower, right?”

”Oh, Saint means twenty percent of the core districts is okay?”

”No, thirty is good. Thirty it is then…”

Saint Riyal Mendez said with a wry smile after going back and forth with this mean City Lord.

Why did City Lord Kain seem so different than before? He had a secret dealing with the other party before coming here, which was the reason he was being polite since he didnʼt want to offend the husband of the relationship he was going to ʼtestʼ. That went against his principles.

But in these types of matters, the husbandʼs mood always swings between reasonable and menacing despite their words, so he didnʼt bother too much about it.

He knew City Lord Kain wanted to kill him as much as he wanted to test the loyalty of his wives.

”Alright, the southwestern district is still mostly unoccupied, so that will do. Any questions?”

”Haha, as long as there is a place to grow, it is fine. I wonʼt even need to go to other cities if Iʼm being treated this handsomely here. City Lord Kain, let me toast to you for our friendship.”

”Cheers~”

Davis extended his hand with a cup of wine again, taking a gulp together with Saint Riyal Mendez.

The Primarchs in the hall laughed.

”Today is a glorious day for the Eighth Bastion City.” The Grayscale Poison Hound Clanʼs Patriarch smiled deeply.

”Indeed, the Bastion Cities will eventually become Holy Lands of the legends where the heaven and earth energy is significantly higher than in other places. Those who couldnʼt get here will never have a chance to come up in life in the Desolate Era.” Said the Abyssal Radiance Empireʼs Grand Elder in a dominant and overbearing tone.

”Holy Lands…”

The youths held their breaths as they heard of these places back when the human race was muddling in desolate eras for a long time.
