Divine Emperor of Death

Chapter 4947  Couldnʼt Be Delayed

Lydia came to a slow pause before stopping completely.

Her blood ran cold as she could sense the chill spread in her body. The atmosphere felt no longer as warm as before. She first turned to look at Ancestor Dian Alstreim in the distance. He was more than a hundred meters away.

Although they spoke in a normal voice, her strong soul allowed her to hear from afar and filter through the multiple conversations simply because she was interested in gathering more information.

She didnʼt expect to land on such information that flipped her perspective and might even flip her life.

However, she was careless.

Her gaze prompted Ancestor Dian Alstreim to cast a glance at her, causing her to hurriedly turn her head away. She forced herself to walk through the crowd as her heart kept beating loudly. Even taking a single step was difficult since she felt like she was carrying a huge boulder. One misstep and she could fall and be crushed by the boulder, which could be anyoneʼs palm.

Suddenly, she hit someone, causing her pupils to dilate. She hoped that it wasnʼt Ancestor Dian Alstreim, only to look up and find that it was Arc.

”Brother…!”

Lydia instantly hugged him with her small frame, causing Arc to be taken aback before caressing her head.

”Silly little sister, donʼt go out too far. Although theyʼre all our allies, any random altercation and the shockwaves from a sudden battle can gravely injure you. Do you want them to get killed by father?”

Lydia looked up again, her eyes moist, ”Fmm, talk about yourself.”

She pouted, causing Arc to chuckle. He wasnʼt even in the first stage, a mere mortal. Fortunately, he had many protective treasures on him, so he wasnʼt worried.

”Ayo, sadly, I donʼt think our father will make a move for an overgrown ox like me. Heʼll only take revenge for little sweety-pies like you.”

Lydia giggled in response before grabbing his hand firmly and continuing to walk with him.

Arc couldnʼt tell why his little sister got scared. Was it a case of sudden shyness?

ʼBut if it is a simple case of shyness or social anxiety, what prompted Father to remind me to quickly go to her and comfort her? Although I canʼt find anything different in his behavior, his tone was strange…ʼ

Arc wondered before Fenren blocked him and tried to introduce one of his granddaughters to him, making him feel awkward. This uncle of his was truly amazing, even recommending his daughters to a cripple like him.

ʼPhew…ʼ

Davis saw that Lydiaʼs situation was under control and sighed in relief while still being concealed. However, he knew he had to address it soon since it could no longer be delayed or both parties continuing to act ignorant for the sake of maintaining the status quo.

He decided on a course of action and sent Arc a soul transmission.

”When this gathering is over, bring Lydia and Eden back to your house, discreetly saying that youʼre going to display the fruits of your multiple star-sensing perception sessions. Weʼre going to have a surprise for your sister mothers along with Ellia and perhaps a few others.”

”…” Arc didnʼt react immediately.

When Lydia wasnʼt looking, he discreetly nodded.

But inside, his mind rapidly spun, fearing that there was a conspiracy going on.

If he recalled correctly, wasnʼt Mother Ellia the one who used Lydia to give him the astral cultivation method? His mother also told him not to look too deeply into this matter, or things wouldnʼt be the same again. Could it be that there was an internal punishment that father was going to give out? But then why was Eden also called?

What role could his little brother have played?

ʼNo, Eden is a distraction… the ones who are going to be punished are either Mother Ellia or Lydia… or both…ʼ

Arc clenched his other fist, feeling a little uneasy. However, he quickly adopted a smirk.

ʼNo… father made it rather clear that he would rather bend the rules than heavily punish his wives… so nothing should happen to Mother Ellia, and Lydia canʼt be punished since sheʼs still a minor… Utmost, theyʼd be chastised… uh, father still cares for me, huh…ʼ

Arc couldnʼt conceal his smile, dazzling the other similarly aged Jadelight girl standing opposite him, while Lydia pouted, looking at the girl with a hostile gaze.

ʼWhyʼd he get uneasy and smug for…?ʼ Davis sensed Arcʼs emotions from above, ʼAh, children… not easy to look after…ʼ

He couldnʼt help but shake his head as he sighed.

Davis looked elsewhere, panning his gaze around. He wanted to go talk to them, but his presence now wasnʼt good since many wanted to talk with him. If he started taking care of state affairs, then he might not be able to return to his wives for many days.

He was afraid when Mingzhi and every department were going to bring him a shipload of scrolls for him to sign since he had not looked over them for a decade, now that he was busy dying and reincarnating, and then went on a vacation before adventuring to the secret realm.

Nonetheless, he spotted a lonely ghost in the crowd and sent her a soul transmission.

”Lady Thunderwraith, please make your way to the back of the mansion courtyard. Iʼll clear your path.”

Lady Thunderwraith shook when she heard that voice. She looked around, wanting to find where he was, but couldnʼt locate him, letting her know his strength had grown beyond measure. Still, a smile inevitably spread on her cold, ghostly face.

She followed his instructions.

On the platform, Zenova still received praises for her idea as she got to know her other sisters.

Suddenly, she also got a soul transmission from Davis, prompting her to leave.

She excused herself gracefully and left.

On the way, her gaze matched with Evelynnʼs as they stared at each other again, the latter finally revealing an approving smile.

ʼHeh, I didnʼt do it to appease you…ʼ

Zenova also smilingly broke off her gaze and walked away, making her way to the back of the mansion while still being followed by Yilla and Schleya, but the security level seemed to have dropped since they were just avatars.

Evelynn watched her leave before addressing the others to mingle in the gathering to extend their horizons.

Isabella, Shirley, and the others went to meet their families. It wasnʼt like they were barred from meeting their families since they were in the harem. There was no such law. Instead, they were too busy to go find their parents for the past decade, barely managing to indulge themselves with Davis, and spent most of their time cultivating.

Otherwise, even with resources, the rate of increase for their cultivation and law comprehension wouldnʼt have been tremendous.

In the backyard, Lady Thunderwraith was the first one to appear.

She revealed herself, appearing like a female wraith in black and white robes. She wore a purple veiled hat, covering her facial features, and her figure was nearly transparent as if it were a soulʼs body.

”Level Three Empyrean already… not bad…”

Davis also revealed himself as he descended.

”Emperor Davis~” Lady Thunderwraith cupped her hands, ”Congratulations on overcoming your tribulation. The skies at that time still haunt me to this day since I felt like I was someone who shouldnʼt exist and the heavens were going to strike me down.”

Davis nodded, intrigued, ”It was said a lot of people randomly got struck that day, with karmic sin being a major factor, but not the only determining factor. Your feeling shouldnʼt be odd, so Iʼm glad you survived.”

”…” Lady Thunderwraith went speechless.

She was only saying it to praise him, but he told her she could have also died instead.

”Did you receive the Inspirited Truesoul Reanimation Technique from Ellia?” Davis asked.
