Divine Emperor of Death

Chapter 4943  Loyal Sisters?

Zenova gazed at Davis, her eyes wide, ”The children know that Mother Natalya did something wrong, and she was still forgiven without any punishment. If they come to know that she was forgiven with just a pat on the hand, I am afraid that it will be taken advantage of in the future. Thatʼs why- my Emperor, please issue an imperial edict commanding that sister Natalya has been forgiven of all crimes.”

”…!?”

Isabella and the others were dumbfounded, but Zenova continued, her voice turning more ardent.

”No one should think of using our own laws against us, not even the next generation. The harem cannot be questioned by anyone other than you and fellow sisters. If the descendants want to be spared, only you can spare them, my Emperor, and for judging the harem, we all trust you more than anyone else. Please grant a pardon to sister Natalya~”

”…”

Silence… absolute silence remained in the garden before a thud echoed.

”Please grant a pardon to my elder sister Natalya, my Emperor~” Fiora also went down on her knees, hopeful to get Natalya out of trouble.

Following her, Isabella, Shirley, and many others followed suit, all pleading for Natalya to be spared. Even Evelynn cupped her hands towards Davis, but also insisted that Natalya make the promise first.

The others also agreed.

Naturally, Natalya promised, causing the harem to ask him to pardon her once again.

”Good! Iʼll do just that.”

Davis was utterly speechless, but he wanted Natalya out of trouble too, so he acted the part, summoned a desk, sat on a chair gloriously, brought out ink and quill, and wrote the imperial pardon decree in bold and powerful letters on an Exalt Grade beast hide. It cannot be easily destroyed even by a Mid-Level Exalt, as he imbued his soul prowess into it.

After finishing, Davis then handed this over to Evelynn, telling her to announce it publicly.

Evelynn grabbed the imperial decree and rushed out, summoning the members of the family.

”Zenova… thank you~”

Fiora appeared before Zenova and hugged her, causing Zenovaʼs lips to twitch.

However, she didnʼt say anything and nodded.

”Iʼll remember this!” Fiora hurriedly bid farewell as she ran after Evelynn.

”Youʼre amazing.” Ellia gave a thumbs up.

”Great.” Yillaʼs purple eyes gleamed with respect, ”An imperial decree… I forgot we even had that since I got blinded by family laws…”

”Phew, for a moment… I wondered what would happen, but thankfully, you were speaking for sister Natalya~” Tina patted Zenovaʼs shoulder, appearing full of approval.

”…”

Mingzhi watched this scene with a dumbfounded gaze.

ʼSo masterful… she got brownie points from nearly everyone just like that while still managing to offend Evelynn, stating the obvious that there was a person above and that we should all listen to him instead of the big sister… she isnʼt transferring power to herself but Davis… heavens… sheʼs so smart…!ʼ

Davis also gave Zenova a profound look before disappearing as he went to oversee the public announcement secretly.

He cannot be present while presenting an imperial decree of his own, or it wouldnʼt look good since it could be considered as being voiceless and helpless.

In the Davis Family, the Emperor wasnʼt a position but him and him alone, according to the law!

Mingzhi still remained as she watched the harem greet Zenova one after another before they finally left.

She quivered inwardly, ʼSheʼs so smart and cunning… I canʼt wait to compare my wits with her and crush her in her own game, but… no… no… I canʼt. Davis would be angry… I must be a good wife and a good sister~ʼ

Mingzhi controlled herself, calming herself down.

Finally, she moved to intercept her.

”Youʼre not bad…”

Mingzhi said with a faint smile, causing Zenova to look at her with a curious gaze before smiling.

”Naturally, I will not treat my sisters badly as long as theyʼre loyal.”

”Loyal to whom? You or our Emperor?” Mingzhi giggled.

”…” Zenova kept smiling.

There were still Yilla and Schleya, who were present behind her, always monitoring her.

Still, Zenova shook her head smilingly, ”To our Emperor, of course. I have not forgotten that I had been defeated, so itʼs no longer my word but his word.”

”Mhmm~” Mingzhi scanned Zenova from head to toe before nodding and turning to leave.

However, she paused and turned to look again.

”Stop trying to become number one here if thatʼs your intention. His Will is firm. He may take more wives, but never another first wife. You know how he can be protective of us. To him, Evelynn was once everything. Infringing on that sacred emotion might end up destroying yourself.”

”…”

Zenova shuddered ever so lightly while Yilla and Schleya faintly smiled. They knew this was always the case.

Zenova lightly took a breath before opening her mouth, ”I know. I donʼt have any intention to take her place since there is already a place for me in his heart. Otherwise, I wouldnʼt be alive.”

Mingzhi, Yilla, and Schleya were about to nod and advise her with sincerity, but they saw her smirk behind her crimson veil.

”But today, donʼt you think the sound of an invisible slap resounded loudly?”

”…”

Mingzhiʼs lips twitched.

Indeed, Zenova solved an issue Evelynn couldnʼt solve perfectly. Zenova not only made sure that there would be no chaos within the harem but also the entire family because of the verdict of forgiving Natalya, which they all wanted.

If Davis had just said Natalya should be forgiven forcefully, then they wouldnʼt have accepted as easily as stating that the emperor had given his decree and they should all follow it uniformly. Zenova was able to bring out the respect they had for Davis in their hearts, overcoming the love and just expectations they had for him, and use it to pardon Natalya in a single move.

It was indeed something that Evelynn wouldnʼt be able to pull because her thought process simply wasnʼt that way, since Evelynn possessed no interest in being the Empress, so much so that Isabella played it. Then again, even Isabella didnʼt think of this, so they could tell that Zenova had much experience in being the Empress, or at least had studied a lot to become one from a young age.

Nonetheless, in this way, Zenova showed that she was more capable than Evelynn in terms of leading the harem, making it an invisible slap, although Mingzhi doubted Evelynn cared since she rushed out to pardon Natalya as soon as possible.

Mingzhi giggled, ”Sure, but do you remember what we said to you when you brought Evelynn home to us?”

”…” Zenova blinked.

Mingzhi grabbed Zenovaʼs hands, looking at her with a sincere expression.

”Youʼre one of us if you could help one of us, but now that youʼre Davisʼs woman, youʼre our sister whom we will protect even if it means life and death. Thatʼs why I want to reassure you and plead with you to stop getting back at Evelynn and forgive her in your heart. We will never forsake you, as we never forsook Natalya. If you believe us and accept us, then we will all be your loyal sisters.”

”…”

Zenovaʼs face took on a troubled expression for the first time, evidently moved by the sincerity.

Someone from the harem was finally handing her a flag of peace, making her wonder if she should take it or not.
