Divine Emperor of Death

Chapter 4915  Before Entering The Sanctuary

Davis bid farewell to Saintess Lunariaʼs group and walked along the stone footpath already constructed.

Halfway, the stone path led to somewhere else- a lot of places other than the sanctuary, so they had to enter a hidden spatial tunnel, where it took them directly to the place where the sanctuary was hidden.

Davis didnʼt bring everyone to say a temporary farewell to Saintess Lunariaʼs disciples.

He only brought Evelynn, Stella, Isabella, Shirley, Illumina, Mingzhi, Fiora, and Ellia.

The rest, he had sent back earlier after the banquet, promising to visit them later. Particularly for Zenova, there was no one to look after her, so he had Yilla and Schleya stick to her for the time being as part of monitoring and also bonding.

Other than his most powerful wives, only those from the wicked path could possibly stop Zenova if she wanted to do something. They would understand her thought process more than the others.

Standing before the sanctuaryʼs entrance, Davis uttered.

”Weʼll switch to soul transmissions from now on. Stella, lock down the sanctuary when I give the signal.”

”Okay~” Stella didnʼt think about anything and answered.

Evelynn, Isabella, and Shirleyʼs brows flickered. They realized it was such a strange command to give.

”Whatʼs going on?” Evelynn asked.

”Mingzhi will explain,” Davis said solemnly.

Ellia shuddered ever so lightly.

She was well aware that after this stage, her child would either live or die. There was no in-between from what she could see.

Mingzhiʼs expression was also solemn.

She slowly recounted what she had told Fiora before, and the faces of the ones who came to know of Lydiaʼs true nature felt their hearts sink.

Evelynn and the othersʼ brows were wide with shock.

They didnʼt know a stranger had been with them all this time! Whatʼs more- right amidst their most vulnerable part- their children!

Rage and worry nearly consumed them, but when they looked at Ellia crying, their enraged emotions were as though they were drenched with a bucket of water. Having calmed a bit, they belatedly realized- Lydia was also their child.

”Please- my investigations have so far pointed out that Lydia is non-hostile.” Mingzhi claimed in a soft tone, ”I apologize for hiding this matter, but I didnʼt want to make it too big before Davis returned. I hope you can all forgive me, forgive us.”

”Itʼs my fault…” Ellia uttered, tears streaming down her face.

Davis held her close, comforting her as he caressed her head.

Evelynn and the others didnʼt know what to say, finding themselves at a loss. Their first instinct was to still go get the other children in the same class as her. They needed to get them to safety by separating them from Lydia, but with Davis here, they held their breaths and waited for his command.

With gazes on him, Davis opened his mouth, ”Worry not. Iʼm here to salvage the situation.”

With his word, Isabella and the others were able to calm down and relax a bit.

They gazed at Ellia, feeling sorry for her.

”What? Itʼs not an alarming situation. A reincarnator happened to appear in our family, but this has happened before. Did you all forget that it was me, Davis Loret?”

Davis pointed at himself with his thumb, his lips curling in amusement.

Mingzhi nearly rolled her eyes at him as she saw him make a ʼDioʼ pose that no one would understand. She hurriedly backed him up.

”Yes, I know him from his previous life and can tell he was a very good person who hated meaningless slaughter and oppression, even though he killed my father.”

”…”

Fiora turned to look at the two of them with a speechless look.

Hello? This didnʼt seem to comfort them but made them more worried instead?

However, Evelynn and the others couldnʼt help but smile. They already knew about Mingzhiʼs background and why Davis killed her father, although they didnʼt know what means he had used to do it.

On the other hand, Illumina was full of question marks on her head, not expecting such a background for the Divine Emperor of Death or Mingzhi. It seemed like she wasnʼt aware of a lot of things about this family.

”Ellia, it should be nothing.” Evelynn walked to Ellia and took her hand, ”You need to stay strong. As our husband declared, he would do his best, resolve it one way or another.”

”But…” Elliaʼs lips curled downward, ”Reincarnators are known to ditch their lives for their next chance at reincarnation if things are not good for them… if we fail…”

”Itʼs fine.” Davis still hugged Ellia close from the side, ”If someone wants to die in my watch, theyʼd have to be powerful as well. My reincarnation powers arenʼt just for show. As long as space is sealed and I have my reincarnation energy encompass the sealed space, I could retrieve anyoneʼs soul, much less a non-immortalʼs.”

”Yes…” Ellia sniffled, ”Iʼm aware, but her astral arts are mystical to us. She could use the stars to escape with her soul and return to the reincarnation cycle to reincarnate.”

Davis considered her words, ”Hmm. You are right. Should we call Fairy Qiyra to seal the connection to the stars above us? However, I donʼt know if itʼs possible.”

”No, no…” Ellia shook her head, ”I donʼt want anyone interfering in this matter other than us. She might even help Lydia escape instead…”

Davis had no idea why Fairy Qiyra Darkstar would be inclined to do that, but he understood Elliaʼs worries.

”Alright, weʼll do it by ourselves. Iʼll talk to sweet little Lydia. No one makes a move, understood?”

Davis panned his gaze and had everyoneʼs agreement as they nodded their heads.

He turned to look at Mingzhi, ”Where is Lydia right now?”

”Since you came back, Iʼve had my avatar arrange for her to be in her class with others. Ancestor Cornelia should teach them a class about reincarnation since thatʼs also the domain of phoenixes. Quite ironic for it to happen today, but it is what it is.”

”Alright.” Davis considered for a moment before he nodded.

He took a step forward into the entrance when he was suddenly stopped.

”Thereʼs one more thing you need to know.” Evelynn uttered softly.

”What?”

Davis turned to look back but realized that their gazes had turned solemn. Even Ellia wiped her tears and made herself steady to pat Fioraʼs back as she comforted her.

”…?” It made Davis wonder as he turned to gaze at Evelynn.

”I put a ban on the spread of this information because we donʼt know its negative consequences, and Tia also said it was for the best. I also didnʼt want you to feel down because you returned to us victoriously and were enjoying the banquet.”

”What is it?” Davis felt his heart sink, ”Did something happen to Natalya?”

Evelynnʼs gaze shook, heart heavy, ”Struck by punishment lightning, Natalya has lost her vision.”

”…” Davisʼs expression went from solemn to panic as his pupils dilated.

”…!”

He instantly remembered back to the time when Natalya appeared in the soul realm when he had used Level Three Obscure Intent of Enigmatic Heart Laws to summon Natalyaʼs Will. He didnʼt necessarily go for her, but she had appeared, allowing him to break free from the Seraphim Ancestorʼs Harmony Law Technique, which had made Davis helpless.
