Divine Emperor of Death

Chapter 4118  Verlight Clanʼs Matriarch

Matriarch Leora Verlight appeared in a white robe draped in flowing layers of silk that swirled around into beautiful embroidery. The fabric was lightly dyed a rich shade of golden, a color that spoke of regality and authority. Her green hair was arranged in an elaborate style, with delicate pins and combs holding it in place while the rest fell like a graceful waterfall. A single jade hairpin was tucked over her hair, making her appear even more grander.

However, Fenren knew that it was a Legacy Artifact that suppresses the bloodline of the Starlight Jade Wolves.

”A Starshard Luminous Wolf?”

Matriarch Leora Verlight narrowed her eyes. Her voice was tinged with a bit of disbelief regarding this strange situation where the Jadelight Clanʼs former Patriarch, Fenren Jadelight had become a Starshard Luminous Wolf.

It should be known that becoming a Starshard Luminous Wolf shouldnʼt be easy. Of course, Fenren was said to be a King-Tier Beast, so he would eventually become a Starshard Luminous Wolf but that was only after he became an Empyrean Beast and not before.

Did he manage to find a suitable resource to make the transition this quick? How was that possible?

She instantly felt that this had to do with the Divine Emperor of Death, but she couldnʼt wrap her head around it. Even for an Anarchic Divergent, he couldnʼt go around continuously making beasts evolve.

If mutating or evolving was so easy, then they wouldnʼt be having so much trouble making the transition. Hence, by remaining here and not finding compatible resources, their clanʼs beasts spend the rest of their life in the Immortal Emperor Beast Stage. It was not exactly a saddening thing, as it was their fate with bloodline limitation, but to see someone repeatedly breaking this so-called fate by allowing many beasts to evolve and even increase their tier was shocking, to say the least.

Just what kind of physique did the Divine Emperor of Death possess to make this possible? The Eternal Life Soul? She had heard about it but only the name and that its master wouldnʼt die. As for evolving…

Her pounding heart slowly calmed, and she was even enticed by what they possibly held. As the Matriarch, she was also nourished with King-Tier blood. However, it was diluted and couldnʼt make any difference in her current realm. Even if it wasnʼt diluted and was something pure, it would still fail to make a difference.

After all, a beast like Starlight Jade Wolf was only a Saint Magical Beast. The magical beasts in this rank more or less all had the effectiveness of their Laws fall.

Only an Emperor-Tier Starlight Jade Wolfʼs blood could possibly allow her prowess to increase in the Empyrean Stage.

”Iʼm a Starshard Luminous Wolf, indeed.”

Fenren didnʼt put on airs and cupped his hands towards Realm Master Leora Verlight. He blasted his King-Tier aura, directly causing incredible pressure to fall on Matriarch Leora Verlight and the Grand Elders behind her.

They all shuddered, receiving a tremendous urge to kneel in front of him as their bloodlines were roused.

But in the end, none of them moved.

That was because the jade hairpin over Matriarch Leora Verlightʼs head unleashed a sacred radiance. It directly suppressed the bloodline pressure unleashed by Fenren, causing him to look at it with some surprise.

”To think the Starlight Jade World Clan has something like that. Are you trying to go against the Starshard Luminous Wolf Clan in the Upper Realms?”

”What?” Matriarch Leora Verlight possessed an amused expression on her face, ”This Legacy Artifact is used to govern our people and also defend against arrogant geniuses who come from the Upper Realms to bully us. It is sanctioned by the Starshard Luminous Wolf Clan. Unlike the other powers, our wolf clans are much more just and efficient when it comes to governing. After all, we represent light and righteous notions.”

ʼThatʼs a huge fat lie…ʼ Fenren thought.

After seeing Nadia, he knew the wolf in the Paragon Magical Beast represented death, not light. However, who knows when the world and even the wolves started to claim that the wolf denoted Light?

That begged the question of whether the Phoenix didnʼt own Light.

After all, they represented seven different Laws in the Paragon Magical Beast factor and hence, the Seven-Colored Phoenix was very popular for reaching that level in the Grand Saint Magical Beast rank.

They knew that the wolf didnʼt represent Light in their hearts as their inherited memories never had such glorious memories, but it was the same for every other magical beast. They did not have ancestral memories stretching far more than their rank. Hence, it was difficult to tell which was the truth and which was false.

The Starshard Luminous Wolf Clan claimed that wolf represented Light in the Twelve Paragon Magical Beasts, so it became like that for the most part. Of course, the human race still held the view that the wolf represented death, but even now, that opinion is slowly changing with all the feats done by the Starshard Luminous Wolf Clan and other light-attributed wolf clans.

Similarly, there were also other wolf races that claimed that they represented Darkness, like the Dark-Winged Twilight Wolf and its evolutionary race, which stepped into the Grand Saint Magical Beast Rank. After all, they were the ones to receive the Eighteen Strike Punitive Tribulation and not the light-attributed wolves.

With conflicting views, it became harder to decide what exactly they represented.

Regardless, Fenren didnʼt hold too much pride on that matter. He knew the wolf represented death.

”What do you want?” Seeing her wait for something, Fenren narrowed his brows.

Was she buying time for reinforcements to arrive?

”The Starshard Luminous Wolf Clan wants you since youʼre a valuable king of our race, but with you having become a King-Tier Starshard Luminous Wolf, Iʼd be willing to guess that they would want you so much enough to trade one of their supreme geniuses for it.ʼ

”…”

Fenrenʼs lips lightly curled.

Of course, he knew that magical beasts were the lifeblood of any clan. If it werenʼt for their blood, how would humans and their feys get powerful? King-Tiers are valued greatly, and Emperor-Tiers donʼt even need to be approved. They could swing by and command anyone as they pleased within the clan.

The male magical beasts would fall into subordination of their own will, and female magical beasts would jump into their arms gladly ninety percent of the time. It was almost a given. Emperor-Tier wasnʼt just a rank. They carried the fate of their race within that generation. For one to be born mostly meant that they would carry their race further or die trying.

The bloodline rank and tier were everything within a magical beast clan. There was no going against it easily.

”Is that an offer, I hear? Arenʼt I a fugitive? Is the Starlight Jade Wolf Clan willing to betray the Heavenʼs Warriors and the human race?”

Matriarch Leora Verlight kept her expression calm, but the Grand Elders behind her couldnʼt. They looked furious, as though they wanted to rip Fenren apart for blasphemy, but unfortunately, with an elevated rank and tiered wolf in front of them, they could feel a bit of admiration for him.

To go against the norm and the ruling class was not an ordinary feat.

Matriarch Leora Verlight merely looked down at the Heavenʼs Warrior. He appeared to have fainted, but she didnʼt care, even if he heard them. She returned her gaze and moved her velvety lips.

”Of course, this chance only comes if youʼre willing to discredit the Divine Emperor of Death and expose his location. However, I donʼt think you will do it, so I didnʼt want to say it. You have a precious friend who will come to save you in that kind of situation. I donʼt know how to categorize that calamitous entity as Iʼve never seen a Divergent move for others and endanger themselves to that level.”

”Matriarch…” One of the Grand Elders eyed her to be cautious with her words.
