Divine Emperor of Death

Chapter 4114  Rescuing the Goldsun Clan

”So what if itʼs a Level Nine Empyrean or an Autarch? Canʼt we get rid of the kill mark all the same?”

Illumina reached out her hand, appearing as though she was going to torture him to death with the remaining time left as she moved to wake Aric Stormsong up.

However, King intervened.

”Donʼt. These idiots donʼt know the difference between an Empyrean and an existence above the Empyrean Stage.”

”How can that be?” Illumina frowned.

”This has to do with karmic burden and also growth. The human race is weirdly concerned about harming the future prospects of their young ones by revealing the wider world all in one setting. They think they arenʼt prepared unless theyʼve become Immortal Emperors or even Empyreans, but thatʼs bullshit. Usually, when these geniuses reach the Immortal Emperor Stage, they start to learn about the wider world, but this fool here still seems ignorant. Perhaps he really has been abandoned.”

”Doesnʼt that mean he wouldnʼt have a kill mark?”

Illumina knew kill mark was the broad term used for the immortal mark. After all, it would activate when the person under the markʼs protection was nearly killed or after being killed.

”He would still have one. Just because heʼs no longer being nurtured doesnʼt mean he isnʼt one of them. They have their face to hold. You, of all people, should know.”

King chuckled, causing Illumina to sigh.

She was an imperial guard, so of course, she knew what it meant to rattle the beehive by harming even a single member. Even killing one of them would induce a severe reaction where they would come out in droves to protect their face, enact justice, or have a justified reason for plundering like they were doing now.

”He might have someone who adores him despite his shortcomings as well.” Illumina nodded.

King nodded in agreement and continued, ”Besides, in the eyes of an Immortal Emperor and lesser beings, they wouldnʼt be able to differentiate between an Empyrean and an above existence as it becomes impossible to accurately sense their power unless those powerful beings directly unleashed their pressure, in which case, their only option would be becoming disabled from having their senses overwhelmed or die in an instant from their soul collapsing or body shattering. The world belonging to above Empyreans existences is not the world of immortals.”

He shook his head wryly, ”Back then, I had seen a huge battle from millions of kilometers away. Just the shockwaves alone ruined my dragon body, sending me flying hundreds of kilometers away. I had to run for my life. I didnʼt even consider it embarrassing and turned my tail to flee. I had to hide and recover for fifteen years because of it.”

He scoffed and took a deep breath before he smirked, ”Fortunately, the Lower Realms doesnʼt have that kind of battle. Here, I am King!”

”Do you wish to remain here?” Illumina cast him a perplexed glance.

”Of course not! As a dragon, I need to reach the apex or die trying!”

King raised his hand before he shot a grin at Illumina, ”Do you want to become my woman?”

”…” Illuminaʼs eyes narrowed, ”The next time you ask will be your death date.”

”Youʼre one prideful rabbit.” King chuckled before he shrugged, ”So youʼre after the Divine Emperor of Death? You two were hugging and all…”

”You-” Illumina instantly went red, her composure didnʼt seem to be holding up, her eyes darting as though searching for a reason to refute it but couldnʼt or couldnʼt bring herself to.

King grinned, ”I see. Then I better stay clear.”

Illumina almost stamped her feet from being cornered. She turned around and left.

”Mhmph~ My mood is not great. You deal with him.”

”Why me?” Kingʼs expression changed, ”Iʼd slap him to death without realizing and get the kill mark.”

”I donʼt care.”

Hearing Illuminaʼs voice that was already distant, he almost coughed blood.

He had a lot of love for crushing and eating geniuses, much less supreme geniuses. To leave Aric Stormsong here would be no different than feeding him.

”Well, for now, I guess Iʼll chop off his legs…”

Kingʼs gaze flashed. With a single finger, he slashed down.

*Ripp!~*

The fabric of space was torn apart ever so lightly, and so were Aric Stormsongʼs legs. It was severed near his thighs, awakening him into a rush filled with pain.

”Ahhh!!!”

Aric Stormsong let out a painful howl as his eyes turned bloodshot, but a kick to his face sent him flying and caused him to faint again.

King captured him in mid-air and rushed back. He guessed they needed to leave as soon as possible or they could have met with a retaliatory move from the main branch of the Golden Crow Clan, the Sunborn Clan.

ʼIt should be fine as long as Arata Sunborn, their Realm Master, doesnʼt interfere…ʼ

King returned to the Goldsun Clanʼs settlement in the town and looked around. It was quite deserted already, which meant Soaren Goldsun was almost done taking them all into his life ring. It was taking time because they were allowed into the life ring only after various checks had been made.

There could be traitors among them. It was difficult to discover.

For that reason, nearly everyone was being knocked out.

Fortunately, Mingzhiʼs avatar was waiting for them with Stella, so they would be able to know if there were those who felt like backstabbing them with a wave of Heart Intent.

Soon, Soaren Goldsun and the others appeared.

”Itʼs bad.” Soaren Goldsun narrowed his eyes, ”A traitor already sounded an alarm when we appeared. It was a Grand Elder who secretly tried to marry off his granddaughter to the Sunborn Clan and succeeded. The Sunborn Clan should be arriving here any moment.”

”Did you kill him?” King raised his brows.

Soarenʼs gaze flickered, ”I let him go because he confessed but wouldnʼt have been so lenient if he had been silent.”

”He knows your temperament well. Youʼre being taken advantage of.” King chuckled.

The time he spent with Soaren was short, but he knew what kind of manly beast he was.

”Doesnʼt matter.” Soaren shook his head, ”If my people wish to be subservient to the Sunborn Clan, so be it. We were originally supposed to reunite and join as a branch clan after the Candidacy, anyway. It is the clanʼs original wish. I wonʼt sacrifice them for my gain. However, telling me that they want to join the Sunborn Clan after I brought them all back to our place would be akin to death.”

”Didnʼt you just knock them out before asking them? How will they consent?” King raised his brows again.

”…” Soaren appeared speechless.

King sneered, ”A bird is indeed a bird.”

”Fuck you! The Fifth Void Dust Sanctuary will be their final stop if they want to change their minds. Isnʼt that why Fairy Mingzhi is there?”

”Finally, you can think. Calm down and leave the fighting to us. You just leave as quickly as possible. As an Immortal Emperor Beast, you will only be a hindrance for us.”

”Heh, what do you think of me as?”

Soaren punched out, causing the color of heaven and earth to change as a terrifying blue-gold talon descended on King. The talon was made up of dark blue-gold yin-yang flames. They blazed with a terrifying heat.

King was alarmed. He waved his hand, easily shattering Soarenʼs punch, but the sheer power of the strike left him feeling dumbstruck for an entire minute, unable to believe how a mere King-Tier Level Nine Immortal Emperor Beast could reach eleven levels higher in prowess!

That was not something an Emperor-Tier Beast would be capable of!

ʼIs… is this the power of an Anarchic Divergent Beast…?ʼ His gaze shook.

He fancied this power, wanting to also be as powerful as Soaren. Otherwise, how could he continue to call himself to be King both in name and title?

”So, do we leave or stay?” Illumina raised her brows.

She wasnʼt scared of a battle. The more she killed, the more she felt she would be able to attract Davisʼs attention. After all, killing and bringing back corpses was also an achievement since it could be used for various things including strengthening herself and other magical beasts.

”We leave.”

Soaren Goldsun uttered. After boarding the flying ship they used, they left.

Exactly five minutes later, the Realm Master of the Golden Crow Clan, Arata Sunborn, descended. A few Heavenʼs Warriors also showed up later. Their soul senses scoured the land and the sky, seeking traces, but their expressions churned as they couldnʼt find any.

It was impeded by an illusion formation that they couldnʼt easily detect.
