Divine Emperor of Death

Chapter 3475  Conflicting Fondness

Davis couldnʼt believe the answer he arrived at. His voice expressed his disbelief as he blurted out, unable to comprehend how it could be like that.

”It is indeed ironic but works.” Myria wryly smiled, ”I, too, didnʼt think anything of Bing Luli and the others and kept them at armʼs length and was even harsh, so I wouldnʼt harm them too much until Ellia harped on how ridiculous I was when compared to you when it comes to treating them. I wasnʼt able to keep up appearances in the end and eventually created a spiral of bonds with them. And you… showed me that with you by my side, I donʼt have to keep to myself, scared that my people will die because of me, allowing me to treat them without fear of harming them.”

Myria strode forward, lightly hugging him as she seemed to have become emotional.

”…”

Davis was still dumbfounded.

The concept of abusing oneʼs loved ones so they would get to survive was pretty fucked up, but that seemed to be the way Anarchic Divergents found out that fate wouldnʼt remove them from their side.

He never had to think about this because rather than his divergence changing fates, it was Fallen Heaven who changed fates since it overpowered him. As far as he had seen, its passive fate-changing capabilities were neutral and didnʼt really invite calamity unless it was actively used.

However, the same thing couldnʼt be said about Anarchic Divergents, who were calamitous stars!

Myria stepped back and glanced at his complicated expression, causing her to smile lightly.

”Fairy Thunderblaze probably learned to live in this way. She abuses all the people she cares for, hoping… they wonʼt die. To her, youʼre no different. In fact, I would argue she canʼt act any different and intrinsically fears that you would be harmed if she treated you better.”

”...”

Davis came out of his reverie and finally nodded his head but shook it.

Seeing his halfhearted denial, Myria also shook her head.

”You used Heart Intent on her, didnʼt you? Then donʼt act like you didnʼt sense it.”

Once Myria said that, Davisʼs expression changed.

He thought back to how she glared at him, but her eyes... they were-

”She… she was hurt…” Davis answered with clenched fists, ”but I thought it was because she was forced to reveal about her father and became embarrassed of it. You truly mean to say that she loves me?”

”Thatʼs not the case.”

”…” Davis blinked, his line of thought once again crumbling.

Fairy Thunderblaze sure seemed to be complex! But still, Myria continued to explain.

”She holds a great amount of fondness for you. After all, you fulfill all the checks she would have for her future cultivation companion, like practicing almost the same cultivation method of the Blazing Thunderlight Kirin, and to top it off, youʼre a Saint and also an Anarchic Divergent who could probably overpower her own ill-fated life due to the number of Paragon Magical Beasts you summon in your tribulation but she would never look your way because she is extremely prideful and refuses to share. She might quickly snatch you up if you leave everyone, but since thatʼs not happening, she does something stupid like watching you from a distance while cackling to herself that sheʼs influencing you.”

”So thatʼs why she became somewhat tame with you…”

Davis recognized that Myria had seen through these eons ago, probably when she negotiated with him for his return from her imprisonment.

He couldnʼt help but let out empty air from a chuckle.

So the reason why she imprisoned him and refused to let him out was because she wanted to love him by abusing him while keeping him by her side? And what about the modified cultivation method she left in her inheritance in the Grand Beginnings Continent that he plundered from her? Was it also the same case of keeping her disciples safe by abusing them…?

”Hehe…” Davis could not believe this revelation.

He also saw some signs that Fairy Thunderblaze held some affection for him, but he always thought it was diabolically playful, like a wild cat looking at a rat with fondness until it ate it out of hunger or when the rat fattened up.

He thought she would murder him if she had the chance for maximum profit, but it turned out that she had a heavy crush on him but refused to even share a single hint of it.

Davis scoffed at this supposed truth he learned before gazing at Myria.

”And you hid this secret like youʼre protecting your own sister?”

Myria narrowed her brows, ”Not one of your wives had a good feeling about her. Besides, I had my own problems to deal with, and I simply donʼt know what she would do, but I guessed that she would destroy the peace you have here with your harem, so why would I care about what she feels for you?”

”Understandable… sorry for asking.” Davis apologized. His question may have sounded like he was doubting her when he was teasing her.

Myria and Fairy Thunderblaze did seem like they could understand each other most of the time while traveling in the Astral Forgeheart Minor Realm.

”Itʼs fine.” Myria lightly smiled as she looked away, ”If thereʼs something you donʼt understand, I will make you understand like you made me understand and didnʼt… let me… go.”

”…”

Davis stood frozen.

His Myria was simply an angel. Her innate nature was that of a Saintess, but the way she treated him simply pierced his heart, although the arrow was one of blinding love.

At this moment, Tanya came back with all the letters that were in Founder Alstreimʼs seclusion chamber. She seemed to have successfully retrieved it without inviting much suspicion, which spared Davis the trouble of having to explain what happened to their Patriarch.

He went through the letters, trying to find some clue if Founder Alstreim Windstorm truly did make this decision without being manipulated.

The next day, he took Evelynn and traversed all the way to the path before the barrier again, finding Fairy Thunderblaze in the same place he left her yesterday. It was as though she hadnʼt moved at all, confusing him lightly, but she also didnʼt care to speak and activated the formation.

Without a word, the three of them entered the iridescent vortex and passed through before they arrived at the other side of the barrier.

*Bzzz!~*

An all-powerful undulation brimmed from nowhere and suddenly placed a restriction on them, bringing down their cultivation all the way to the Level One Immortal Stage, which left Davis, Evelynn, and Fairy Thunderblaze speechless.

Nonetheless, they recognized the mortal air and instantly felt exhilarated as their efforts to enter were a success! They were finally in the Grand Beginnings Continent, causing Davis to storm off towards the Alstreim Family Territory!
