Divine Emperor of Death

Chapter 3320 Karmic Tribulations

”In any case,” Myria continued, ”The Heavenly Water Tribulation is extremely useful as it heals all kinds of injuries, and curses and provides shelter against the onslaught of heavenly attacks. While it encompasses you, the heavenly lightning strikes would be dispersed within the heavenly water, keeping you from being harmed. I imagine it would also be the same for defending against other heavenly tribulations until its energy disperses or the tribulation itself ends.”

”Woah~” The ladies were astonished, wanting to witness such a tribulation.

”Wait…” However, Davis interjected in confusion, ”Isnʼt the Heavenly Water Tribulation annihilative in nature for us?”

”No.” Myria firmly shook her head, ”These are special tribulations stemming from the karmic nature of our soul imprint. As far as I know, there are no other versions of them because they pertain to the level of karma one possesses.”

”But then… why is there an Annihilative Heavenly Flame Tribulation for Anarchic Divergents with karmic sin and even the lesser version of Destructive Heavenly Flame Tribulation for Divergents?”

”As I said, it pertains to the level of karma one possesses and doesnʼt need to go more than that for whatever reason it may be. The Annihilative Heavenly Flame Tribulation exists because it is punishment for karmic sin, and similarly, for karmic virtue, it is there to help people be rewarded for their efforts to be good and bring harmony to the universe.”

”With karmic virtue, thereʼs no special tribulation until you save a quadrillion worth of lives, but until then, isnʼt there a reduction in the difficulty of the tribulation? Was there any difference between the reduction of prowess in a tribulation between yourself and a normal cultivator when you have karmic virtue?”

”No…” Davis clenched his teeth.

As far as he remembered, he wasnʼt treated differently when it came to karmic virtue. The prowess that was reduced in a tribulation was the same as any others.

It was a blessing.

Suddenly, this gave him mixed feelings about the way the heavens acted, but ultimately, he shook his head.

”If there is Heavenly Water Tribulation, what is the counterpart for its karmic sin version?”

Davis now understood that with fourth-tier karmic virtue, he would get Heavenly Water Tribulation, so what about fourth-tier karmic sin…? Was it the same Heavenly Flame Tribulation but more powerful…?

”Heavenly Poison Tribulation…”

However, the response didnʼt come from Myria but from Evelynn, causing some to laugh.

”Sheʼs right.”

”!!!”

However, Myria affirmed Evelynnʼs answer, causing everyone to be dumbfounded, including Davis.

Indeed, Evelynn found vague mentions about this after scrolling through so many poisonous and hex records. At first, she couldnʼt understand, but after hearing about Heavenly Water Tribulation, she was able to connect the dots.

ʼWhy poison…? Because it is a liquid like heavenly water…? But it could be gaseous as well…ʼ Davis couldnʼt understand why the punishments and rewards were the way it was, but he very much liked this as he could envision his Evelynn gaining boons from it.

However, imagining that she could become an Anarchic Divergent from it and possibly go on a true slaughter spree if anything were to happen to him like last time, he didnʼt want to give it much thought as he always wanted her to be the innocent and clumsy woman he first loved even though she had long graduated from it.

”Well,” Myria pursed her lips, ”... acquiring karmic sin is relatively easier than acquiring karmic virtue. To get the Heavenly Poison Tribulation, one would have to kill trillions of lives or of equal worth, so at that point, they would deserve to die, in my honest opinion.”

”Indeed, dying from poison is well deserved.”

Davis couldnʼt help but nod.

Slaughtering trillions…? Just the thought of it made him shiver. He barely killed millions and wouldnʼt even think about billions but trillions…?

That was truly a scary number he couldnʼt wrap his head around.

For example, when roughly translated into seconds, a million was around eleven years, but a billion was thirty-one years!

But as for a trillion, that was thirty-one thousand and six hundred years! The magnitude of the difference in time with each scaling was truly off the charts!

ʼFourth-tier karmic nature is no game…ʼ

Davis inwardly shook his head. Playing with it seemed dangerous.

However, his gaze flashed as he couldnʼt help but almost reveal a grin.

From plundering the karmic nature of the heavenly geniuses to plundering Ancestor Reselius Zenflameʼs karmic virtue, both karmic natures were filled to the brim. The karmic sin of the young geniuses of the Six-Headed Hydra Upper Realm was already high, and the karmic virtue of other heavenly geniuses was also ridiculously high since it was difficult to gain karmic virtue.

As a result, his karmic sin and karmic virtue were both thirty-three meters tall and were in the third tier!

In fact, it had been long like this, even before he left the Astral Forgeheart Minor Realm, so he didnʼt know when both karmic natures would break through their bottlenecks and enter the fourth tier! However, he liked to imagine that it was near as Ancestor Reselius Zenflame had third-tier karmic virtue filled to the brim.

But would he still be able to convert fourth-tier karmic nature with Fallen Heaven?

That remained to be seen, causing him to bring himself down to earth as he temporarily abandoned his fantasies.

”Then I ask you.” His gaze went to Myria, ”Is there anything beyond Heavenly Water Tribulation and Heavenly Poison Tribulation?”

Myria nodded, ”There is, but I have no recollection of it, or I simply cannot recall it.”

”Then how would you know?”

”Because my instincts say there is, but who knows how many lives you would need to save to reach that level? If you did, it must be most likely Laws pertaining to… us….”

”…!”

An explosion went off in Davisʼs head as he imagined two Laws, the two Laws that he was most comfortable with in his soul.

ʼHeavenly Life and… Heavenly Death…ʼ

Thinking all this made him want to sleep, causing his eyes to roll back while his mouth remained open.

However, he closed his mouth and blinked, knowing that Fallen Heavenʼs energy wouldnʼt necessarily lose to the purity of heavenly essence.

In fact, since Fallen Heaven was also once the Tablet of Life and Death, a Primeval Law Treasure that held the purest essence of life and death and still does even after becoming the Grimoire of Fate after somehow merging with the Essence Thread of Karma, he imagined that it was far more superior to the heavenly essence of life and death because this treasure was the amalgamation of the Three-Layered Universeʼs Life Laws and Death Laws!

In fact, in the farthest of his fantasies, when he discovered the existence of Dimensions from talking with Nyoran and getting to know the existence of the Tablet of Life and Death from the World Master, he imagined this treasure had been the key to entering the realm of reincarnation, which is the reincarnation cycle!
