Divine Emperor of Death

Chapter 3314 Swirling Vortex Of Death

”Donʼt be so shaken. I sacrificed thirty-five percent of my soul essence to increase the prowess of my trump card so that I could take you down. Otherwise, I wouldʼve burned to cinders.”

He chuckled. His eyes, that was pitch dark, abruptly flashed as they became swirling vortexes.

The heaven and earth energy went through another upheaval as the weather changed, heralding another descent of a Divine Technique.

”…!”

Ancestor Reselius Zenflame was finally able to extricate himself from the fear that made him freeze. However, his gaze locked with Davis, causing him to feel an icy sensation across his skin as though the surrounding temperature dropped. He didnʼt bother with it and hurriedly tried to use a defensive Divine Technique as he retreated.

However, without even him knowing, he diagonally descended and crashed onto the head of the cave, dropping down like a fly.

”!!!”

His eyes went wide as he felt his body uncontrollably tremble. He kept convulsing, not knowing what was happening, when he suddenly realized that his veins, meridian points, organs, blood, and even his soul were suddenly inflicted with death energy.

”Ah~”

An anguished moan escaped his mouth as he finally recalled whose Divine Technique was this.

ʼThe Soul-Devouring Doom Eyes… the one requirement for Ghost Tear Hallʼs Young Heir to be acknowledged…ʼ

Slowly, inexorably, he began to feel his soul collapse, the threads of his lifeʼs essence being severed bit by bit under the merciless gaze of the Emperor of Death. Each of his heartbeats seemed to herald the end of his time, causing his very soul to chill.

Davis appeared beside Ancestor Reselius Zenflame and kicked him to the side, making him look up to the skies.

As for his body, though, everything went pale and black as though he was poisoned. The deathly energy, swirling and pulsating, etched intricate patterns across Ancestor Reselius Zenflameʼs form, tracing the contours of his body with a sickly pale glow.

It was a harrowing sight, enough to make any person run away from this person as the instinct to live might overwhelm their senses.

However, it caused Davis to smile delightedly as he knew that although this technique was almost an instant kill for most people, it was not the case for people more powerful than him in prowess. To someone as powerful as Ancestor Reselius Zenflame, it was a slow burn, equivalent to placing them in a cooking pot and boiling them alive.

This was indeed none other than the technique Master Deathseeker painstakingly mastered by even going as far as sacrificing his eyes. After all, his eyes were always in the form of pupil-less swirling deathly vortexes.

But for Davis, he didnʼt need to make such self-mutilating sacrifices as he possessed extremely pure death energy to accommodate and unleash.

”Heh, youʼre done…”

Davis smirked as he raised his hand, a layer of reincarnation energy forming at the base of his palm.

”Iʼll thoroughly erase your soul from reincarnating or resurrecting as well…”

”Itʼs… useless…”

Ancestor Reselius Zenflame struggled to talk as blood swelled out of his mouth. The blood was fully black, appearing to have been corrupted by death energy mostly.

”Save… your… energy… for I have already… lost my ability to resurrect…”

”…”

Davisʼs lips curled.

He knew a Fire Phoenix could only resurrect once and could not hold multiple resurrection aspects unless they were King-Tier or Emperor-Tier. They could not stack that aspect by sleeping with many phoenixes, either. The resurrection factor stemmed from the soul, so only other phoenixes had the ability to resurrect Ancestor Reselius Zenflame, but for a normal phoenix, even that was limited as they could not resurrect endlessly as their soul would collapse.

Perhaps two or three times was the limit, and Davis did not doubt that Ancestor Reselius Zenflame couldʼve died one or two times already, making the latter count his lives and know that he was going to die this time for sure.

With that said, Davis didnʼt know how this person managed to recover his crippled cultivation, as that was almost impossible to do. After all, his blood had been fully corrupted back then, making him a Savage Beast-like existence. To have recovered from that and also recover his crippled cultivation shouldʼve not been easy, so he couldʼve been resurrected or helped by a Saint or Saintess with life energy at that time.

However, was such treatment possible even with life energy?

Life energy had made his life extremely easier, but at the same time, he didnʼt forget his life energy was more pure than any other life energy he encountered.

”Any last words?”

Davis abruptly came out of his thoughts as he still chose to make the Spear of Damnation for insurance. In truth, he was exhausted a bit after using five Divine Techniques, but that exhaustion still didnʼt hit him as he was still clad in Fallen Heavenʼs energy.

When he sacrificed his soul essence, Fallen Heaven ate it and increased its prowess, allowing him to match Ancestor Reselius Zenflameʼs prowess.

Of course, he could directly kill Ancestor Reselius Zenflame by erasing his soul imprint, and that would cost him nothing in terms of soul essence, but he liked to not do that as indirectly using Fallen Heaven, like allowing it to clad over his energy, was better for the future.

ƈοm

After all, this person was still a major factor of influence to a Lower Realm in the true immortal world. He could kill him, but that shouldnʼt be absolute, having some leeway for the bubble of fate to be able to adjust along with his actions.
Hence, he figured using Fallen Heaven indirectly was the best way to kill Ancestor Reselius Zenflame at the moment.

”Tribu… la… tion…”

”What?”

Ancestor Reselius Zenflame barely spoke as he was at deathʼs door, causing Davis to step on his forehead with his bare foot, connecting physically, which would allow Ancestor Reselius Zenflame to communicate using soul transmission.

”Do you know why I allowed my clan members to actively hunt Divergents?” Ancestor Reselius Zenflameʼs voice was calm in the soul transmission.

This kind of question made Davisʼs brows raise, ”Because the heavens donʼt punish whatever you do to them but even reward you?”

”Youʼre absolutely right. Iʼve taken many things from Divergent, but killing that Anarchic Divergent had rewarded me the most, even sending me a Heavenly Water Tribulation that finally cleansed my blood and allowed me to recover my cultivation even when resurrection didnʼt help.”

”What…? Heavenly Water Tribulation…?”

”What? You donʼt know.”

Pressed underneath the sole of Davisʼs foot, Ancestor Reselius Zenflame smirked.

”What do you mean?”

Davis asked with his eyes narrowed. However, there was no response for two seconds, causing him to take his foot off and see that Ancestor Reselius Zenflameʼs eyes were still and dull.

”Bastard died…”

Davisʼs lips curled as he raised his hand and formed a spear made out of iridescent energy.

The Spear of Damnation struck Ancestor Reselius Zenflameʼs forehead, causing his collapsing soul sea to explode. The physical souls were also struck, making sure that only the spiritual souls were left that popped out as a soul essence, which Davis thought was good to stab to spare him the concern.

However, he pulled the soul essence towards him using Fallen Heaven, causing his eyes to narrow as he saw a karmic thread extend to the distance with his karmic sight.

ʼWhat the… he still has a method to revive himself…?ʼ

Davisʼs gaze flickered with shock, unable to believe he was still in possession of an unknown method but also finally understanding that using the term Heavenly Water Tribulation was to make him stay his hand from making the killing blow quickly.

*Boom!~*

With an explosive sound, he rushed towards the distance, following the karmic thread as well as the soul essence that tried to escape from his grasp.
