Divine Emperor of Death

Davisʼs sapphire pupils reflected the beauty of the three heavenly wind wisps.

Taking a deep breath, he reached out his hands to one of them using his life energy as he brought the heavenly wind wisp towards him. Admiring the countless blades that were tinier than a microbe on the light green body, he began to absorb its essence and start to refine it.

The greenish essence penetrated his palm as he slowly began to absorb it. However, he suddenly couldnʼt help but feel a slicing pain rumble through his palms. It was like countless blades were slicing him, causing him to grit his teeth and continue.

,m His goal wasnʼt to temper his meridians with it but tried to comprehend it, but for that, he needed to absorb a bit of its essence and feel it through his body first to get the hang of it. But before that, he wanted to know whether he was capable of assimilating it.

As the wind essence traversed through his meridians, making him feel the slicing pain that made his fingers inevitably twitch to reach the point of his dantian, his body suddenly couldnʼt help but jolt.

*Bang!~*

Davis threw up a mouthful of blood as he was sent flying a few meters away. His lower dantian rumbled, feeling it was going to explode before it slowly returned back to normalcy, seething with raging dark crimson flames and thundering black-silver lightning.

He sat up, his expression appearing numb, before he crossed his legs and tried again.

*Bang!~*

Without suspense, he was sent flying again, causing Davisʼs expression to turn unsightly as he groaned.

”What the hell... this isnʼt working...”

For some reason, his Tyrannical Heavenly Firestorm Physique was disallowing him to assimilate wind essence. He imagined that he would at least be able to take the wind essence into his lower dantian, but his lower dantian forcefully rejected it.

Just the slightest touch to the entrance when absorbing caused a chain reaction that aggravated his Tyrannical Heavenly Firestorm Physique as though they couldnʼt exist under the same sky. It was frustrating, causing Davis to grit his teeth.

He wasnʼt willing to give up just like this, but he didnʼt have a breakthrough in testing out new methods either. Of course, he could use the other two dantians, but the soul path was already taken while the martial path was waiting for the Chaotic Genesis Physique. He couldnʼt mess up the cultivation paths he had decided upon.

In fact, Davis knew that he was already taking it in an unknown direction and that just a slight misstep would cause his body to be blown apart.

Thatʼs why he couldnʼt afford to make any mistakes at this junction.

If this was the case, then even if he solely comprehended heavenly wind using the heavenly wind wisps, it was unknown if his Tyrannical Heavenly Firestorm Physique would allow him to conjure heavenly wind energy.

However, thinking that as long as he doesnʼt conjure heavenly wind within the dantian, he felt that it would be fine. After all, the lower dantian only reacted adversely upon contact with the heavenly wind and not before it.

But at this moment, he suddenly couldnʼt help but witness a stray woman loitering near the heavenly wind wisps.

He noticed that it was none other than Zephya, looking at the heavenly wind wisp with some reluctance as she bit her lips as though she had some unrequited emotions towards it.

Turning to look at what her mistress was doing, he saw Fiora pale as she hurriedly kept bowing her head to him. She made a face that seemed like she didnʼt want to disturb him, but Zephya also didnʼt listen to her words, making her appear pitiful.

He couldnʼt help but smile in all this frustration as he turned to look at the wind spirit.

”Do you want it, Zephya?”

Zephya shook as though she had come out of her reverie before gazing at Davis, her emerald eyes seemingly gazing at him with curiosity.

”Is master unable to absorb them? In that case, can I have a try?”

”No.”

Davis declined, causing Zephyaʼs expression to become crestfallen. However, she didnʼt say anything and obediently returned to her mistress.

”Wait.”

Davis squinted his brows, ”The consequences of absorbing heavenly wind are heavy and sinful according to the heavens. You wonʼt merely become a Divergent but chances are youʼll become an Anarchic Divergent. Consult with your mistress and come back.”

Fiora became stunned while Zephya revealed a faint smile.

”Fiora, I didnʼt want to drag you into this, but I need Zephyaʼs power to see if Iʼm able to assimilate heavenly wind into my Essence Gathering Cultivation. What do you think?”

”I...”

Fiora blinked once. She knew what heavenly wind was as she heard it was something Immortal Kings experience in their tribulations. However, to assimilate it into Zephya, doesnʼt that mean she would also obtain a part of the pie if she was fortunate and talented enough to comprehend the essence of the heavenly wind?

However, she wasnʼt thinking about that.

Davis said he needed Zephya to assimilate heavenly wind into his Essence Gathering Cultivation. For all she knew, it could fail and turn Zephya into an Anarchic Divergent with no benefits gained. She knew what the latter entailed as she knew bits and pieces of what being an Anarchic Divergent means. It really wasnʼt a good status to be in, and yet, that was what her husband was, causing her to clench her teeth.

”Forget Zephya, as her thoughts on this are already clear on this matter. Even Iʼm willing to venture fortune and misfortune together. If darling gives one of these heavenly wind wisps to me, I promise Iʼll have Zephya assimilate with it and learn it myself, even with the help of a tiny portion. I donʼt want to remain any weaker than I am. I want to become strong as my big sisters!”

”...”

Davis became stunned to hear Fioraʼs determined reply.

However, it wasnʼt like he didnʼt expect this before.

The only reason he didnʼt try giving Fiora heavenly wind was that he didnʼt want to make her into an Anarchic Divergent! Utmost, she could be considered a high-threat Divergent by the heavens if Zephya turned into an Anarchic Divergent due to the close connection and comprehension they share, but if Fiora became an Anarchic Divergent, then things wouldnʼt start looking good for her.

Even Nadia and Ellia werenʼt an Anarchic Divergent, after all!

Davisʼs expression became perplexed as he didnʼt know what decision to make. But in the end, he had to make a decision.

In a place somewhere other than the Aurora Cloud Gate, two entourages reconvened.

They were none other than the Earth Dragon Clan and the Fire Phoenix Clan, looking at each other with stern expressions amidst the round table.

”What happened in the Aurora Cloud Gate?”

”So far, it doesnʼt seem to be having any results. Three of our Immortal Kings were arrested and publicly flogged. As for the disciples we have, they havenʼt managed to reveal any trump cards. Our young characters inside the Aurora Cloud Gate have also not made contact with them as there wasnʼt any sign of Earth Dragon Immortal Inheritor Isabella.”

The Earth Dragon Patriarch, Klavius Rocksunder, nodded at the elder who reported on the activities before he turned to look at the other side.

”What about the Fire Phoenix Clan? I heard that your people were also arrested, but the disciples managed to make contact with the Fire Phoenix Immortal Inheritor Shirley. What did she say?”

”It is pretty similar indeed. As for our inheritor, she says that she detests us and wouldnʼt talk to us until... until the Fire Phoenix Patriarch publicly kneels and apologizes. How dare she!?”

One of the Fire Phoenix Clanʼs elders spoke with humiliation in his voice before he fumed.

”So she has the same opinion as the Earth Dragon Immortal Inheritor. What is wrong with both these characters who will stand atop our clan, leading us to victory? Is that Divergent really worth sharing for all the trouble he causes to them?”

The Earth Dragon Patriarch sighed, seemingly unable to understand the hearts of these two women.

But at this moment, the Fire Phoenix Patriarch, who was reading a scroll containing the list of disciples they could use, suddenly couldnʼt help but raise his head.

”Who is this woman called Zahara? Why have I never heard of this name before when she is designated to be powerful and registered as a core disciple in the Aurora Cloud Gate?”
